We are engaged in a battle of epic spiritual proportions.

This is why they use humans as batteries. Bloodlines/DNA is important because certain lines are easier to use for demonic possession.
They are attempting to pull the earth into a phantom black hole system to gain total control of the earth and it's stargate system. Earth also has stargates which leads to universal stargates.
