kitchen sink notables are a problem

wall of notes - wont' get read and hurts our rep (no good editor would let everything in)

ways to avoid:

  • more careful selection

  • checking qresear.ch for dups

  • shorter breads - @500 -

  • flexible bread lengths (longer during day, shorter at night) - would need bv's here to lock or bakers having the authority to lock

do bakers currently check qresear.ch for dups?

hard to make changes, there's no good way to make decisions on a board like this but could be done w/coop of both bakers and bo/bvs

is there any interest?

>BIGGEST SERVERFARM/DATACENTER OF EUROPE GOES UP iN FLAMES!!!

didn't just happen, was on Wed, this is an update

but it does look devastating

RTICLE EXCERPT:

An iconic picture: Europe's largest data center goes up in flames, a lot of data is lost forever. What does this mean for us internet users?

A devastating fire has now broken out at Europe's largest cloud provider OVH. For reasons that have not yet been clarified, a five-story high data center with space for 12,000 servers in Strasbourg on the banks of the Rhine burned down completely last Wednesday, and another building was half destroyed. The destroyed building also housed the sensitive "hosted private cloud" in which the data of large companies is stored. The French Internet service provider, which is the European market leader in hosting with more than 260,000 servers in more than twenty data centers, was forced to shut down all four halls. Hundreds of firefighters fought the fire, 3.6 million websites went offline, including government portals, banks, news channels and the government website data.gouv.fr.

This could now be dismissed as a spectacular accident without fatal consequences if the data were actually stored elsewhere, as the cloud rhetoric suggests, and could still be accessed via other data centers. This is also technically possible - but apparently a number of customers had dispensed with such safety nets for cost reasons, as they have to be booked with OVHcloud for a fee. Significant amounts of data are gone forever; how many is still to be determined. The first to report an irreversible total loss were the large law firm Leroi & Associés and the computer game provider Facepunch, which claims to have completely lost all servers in the European Union for its popular survival game "Rust" because there was no backup for them server-side data there.
