'Egg on their face': Media backpedals on Wuhan lab leak theory; journalists try to blame Trump

The mainstream media did some major backpedaling this week on the potential origin of the coronavirus. After months of brushing off the possibility that COVID-19 escaped from a laboratory, left-wing journalists now admit that they are taking the Wuhan lab leak theory seriously, even after they said the theory was "debunked" months ago. Backtracking journalists are blaming former President Donald Trump and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) for the media previously dismissing the now-feasible lab leak theory.

"I think a lot of people have egg on their face," ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jon Karl told Martha Raddatz on Sunday. "This was an idea that was first put forward by Mike Pompeo, secretary of state, [and President] Donald Trump, and look, some things may be true even if Donald Trump said them."

"Because Trump was saying so much else that was just out of control, and because he was, you know, making a frankly racist appeal talking about 'kung-flu,' and the 'China virus,' his notion … he said flatly this came from that lab, was widely dismissed … but now serious people are saying it needs a serious inquiry," Karl said on ABC's "This Week."

New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman also tried to blame Trump and Pompeo for the media's failure to take the lab leak theory seriously.

"I think it is important to remember that part of the issue is when this was first being reported on and discussed back a few months after the pandemic had begun, was that then President Trump and Mike Pompeo, secretary of state, suggested they've seen evidence that this was formed in a lab and they also suggested that it was not released on purpose," Haberman said on CNN last week. "But they refused to release the evidence showing what it was and so because of that made this instantly political."

Washington Post reporter Aaron Blake wrote an article titled, "The vexing 'lab leak' theory on China and the coronavirus," which blamed Trump for the media's immediate dismissal of the lab leak theory.

"Given everything we know about how Trump handled such things, caution and skepticism were invited," Blake wrote. "That (very much warranted) caution and skepticism spilled over into some oversimplification, particularly when it came to summarizing the often more circumspect reporting."

Last week, Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler posted an article titled, "How the Wuhan lab-leak theory suddenly became credible." The article stated, "The Trump administration's messaging was often accompanied by anti-Chinese rhetoric that made it easier for skeptics to ignore its claims."

However, a year earlier, Kessler told Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Twitter, "It is virtually impossible for this virus jump from the lab."

Once upon a time, not that long ago, the biggest outrage in the world of politics was the "shocking" revelation made possible by Edward Snowden's exposure of the NSA's deep state operations, that the Obama administration had a penchant for spying… on everyone, and especially its top allies such as Angela Merkel who BlackBerry was notorious breached by US spies (yes, even the ultra-partisan outlet CNN covered it "Obama administration spied on German media as well as its government").

Of course, the outrage eventually died down with nothing changing - after all, the US deep state can and will spy on anyone and everyone it chooses, and it's not like the president has any control over it, but over the weekend the story reemerged when in an investigative report on Sunday, Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio and other European media outlets "discovered" the the NSA had eavesdropped on Danish underwater internet cables from 2012 to 2014 to spy on top politicians in Germany, Sweden, Norway and France (we of course knew all this from Snowden's original NSA leak but let's pretend it's news).

The NSA was able to access (and accessed) text messages, telephone calls and internet traffic including searches, chats and messaging services – including those of Merkel, then-foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and then-opposition leader Peer Steinbruck, DR said.

This, too, was not news, but since most don't remember yesterday's news cycle let alone that from 2013, European leaders had no choice but to address, which they did when the leaders of Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said that they expected the US and Danish governments to present explanations over allegations of spying by Washington on European allies with Copenhagen's aid (the alternative would give the impression that the US can do whatever it wants without any accountability to anyone… which of course is the correct impression).

"This is not acceptable between allies, and even less between allies and European partners," said Macron after a French-German summit meeting held via video conference between Paris and Berlin. "I am attached to the bond of trust that unites Europeans and Americans," Macron said, adding that "there is no room for suspicion between us".

At this point the background laughter could be clearly heard.

If you’re among those of us who aren’t tribally invested in Covid politics but would like good information about when life will resume as normal, chances are you’re interested in herd immunity. You’re likely not interested in having to rely on the Internet Archive for good information on herd immunity. Alas, it’s become a go-to place for retrieving, as it were, previously published information on herd immunity that became inconvenient post-vaccine and then virtually Memory-Holed.

Over the past 15 months, the litany of Experts’ True Facts and Science regarding various aspects of SARS-CoV-2 has changed more often than the starting lineup of a bad minor league ball club. Covid-19 is spread by droplets, especially from asymptomatic people, until one day it was airborne all along and people who weren’t sick in all likelihood weren’t even sick. Stay at home, you’re safer indoors, even stay away from parks and beaches; well, actually, outdoors is the place to be. Masks don’t work against viruses and are actually unhealthy to wear if you’re not sick, then suddenly they did work and without one you might as well be shooting people. Everyone knows and PolitiFact verified that the virus couldn’t have been created in the prominent infectious disease lab doing gain-of-function research on coronaviruses in bats coincidentally at Covid Ground Zero until, one day, PolitiFact had to retract the entire “Pants on Fire!” article. And so forth.

Unfortunately, information about herd immunity has also not been immune to this kind of meddling. Until recent months, people readily understood that active immunity came about either by natural immunity or vaccine-induced immunity. Natural immunity comes from battling and defeating an actual infection, then having your immune system primed for the rest of your life to fight it off if it ever shows up again. This immunity is achieved at a sometimes very high personal price.

Vaccine-induced immunity is to prime your immune system with a weaker, non-threatening form of the invading infection, so that it’s ready to fight off the real thing should you ever encounter it, and without your having first to risk severe illness or death.

Those interested in herd immunity in itself likely don’t have a moral or political preference for one form of immunity to the exclusion of the other. Immunity is immunity, regardless of whether a particular person has it naturally or by a vaccine. All immunity contributes to herd immunity.

Others, however, are much less circumspect. They seem to have forgotten the ultimate goal of the public campaign for people to receive vaccination against Covid-19. It’s not to be vaccinated; it’s to have immunity. People with natural immunity — i.e., people whose immune systems have faced Covid-19 and won — don’t need a vaccine.

They do, however, need to be considered in any good-faith discussion of herd immunity. There are two prongs to herd immunity, as we used to all know, and those with natural immunity are the prong that’s being ignored. It’s not just mere oversight, however. Fostering such ignorance can lead to several bad outcomes:

People with natural immunity could be kept from employment, education, travel, normal commerce, and who knows what other things if they don’t submit to a vaccine they don’t need in order to fulfill a head count that confuses a means with the end

The nation could already be at herd immunity while governors and health bureaucrats continue to exert extreme emergency powers, harming people’s liberties and livelihoods

People already terrified of Covid — including especially those who’ve already had it — would continue to live in fear, avoiding human interaction and worrying beyond all reason

People could come to distrust even sound advice from experts about important matters, as they witness and grow to expect how what “the experts” counsel diverges from what they know to be wise counsel while it conforms to and amplifies the temporary needs of the political class

Foreign Reporters to Be Tracked, ‘Managed’ by GPS at Tokyo Olympics

Foreign reporters covering the Tokyo Olympics will be tracked by GPS and their behavior “managed” by organizers, the event president said Tuesday, before adding passes could be “revoked” for any rule infractions.

Organizers say the unprecedented controls on what journalists can cover and where they can go are part of measures to reassure a sceptical Japanese public the mega-event can be held safely while coronavirus continues to ravage the country.

Some 6,000 reporters are expected to visit and cover the Tokyo Olympics, according to AFP, and they must account for their planned movement over their two weeks in Japan, from sports venues to local accommodation.

Tokyo 2020 chief Seiko Hashimoto said tracking technology would be used to make sure they only go where they are supposed to.

“To make sure that people don’t go to places other than the places where they are registered to go, we will use GPS to strictly manage their behaviour,” Hashimoto said before a Tokyo 2020 executive board meeting.

Reporters will be urged to stay in designated hotels rather than private lodgings, she added, while athletes will also face tight restrictions on their movements as well as being tested daily for the virus.

Overseas fans have already been banned from attending the event, and organisers will decide later this month how many domestic spectators — if any — can attend in person.

The tight restrictions come as the event struggles to capture the imagination of the host country, with many polls showing the Japanese people want it canceled altogether.

As Breitbart News reported, roughly 10,000 volunteers have also withdrawn their help over concerns surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.

Organizers said they “need 80,000” volunteers to properly run the games, but are “now short 10,000,” Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK, reported on June 2.

“The withdrawal of volunteers began in February after then organizing committee chairman Mori Yoshiro came under criticism for his remarks taken as derogatory to women,” NHK noted last Wednesday.

“Even after Mori resigned from the post to take responsibility for his remarks, more volunteers continued to withdraw, citing other factors such as fears of infection [from the Chinese coronavirus] or changes in their own working environment.”

Last month it was reported the Centers for Disease Control was investigating potential heart problems in young adults and adolescents following Covid-19 vaccination.

The CDC said the mRNA ‘vaccines’ produced by Pfizer-BioNTech are ‘potentially’ causing the problem.

The FDA authorized the Pfizer gene therapy jabs for children as young as 12 earlier this month and now there are reports of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) in teens.

The reports of myocarditis in teens is more common in males and typically occurs after the second dose of the jab.

Vaccine advisors to the CDC are now saying there are a “higher-than-expected” number of cases of heart problems in young adults following Covid vaccination.

Of course the CDC is pushing back and said benefits from Covid-19 vaccination outweigh the risks “including risk of myocarditis or pericarditis.”

Vaccine advisers to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say there has been a higher-than-expected number of cases of a heart ailment among young people, most often males, who’ve recently received their second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines.

The advisers’ statement, posted June 1 on the CDC website, strikes a different note from their statement about two weeks earlier, which said that the rates of myocarditis — inflammation of the heart muscle — were not higher among vaccinated people than among unvaccinated people. 

The June 1 report by a work group of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices states that within 30 days of receiving the second dose of either Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, “there was a higher number of observed than expected myocarditis/pericarditis cases in 16-24-year-olds.”

Dr. Cole recently sounded the alarm on Covid jabs during a radio interview.

“We’ve seen more deaths from this shot than all vaccines in the last 20 years combined — and that’s just in the first 4 to 5 months,” the Idaho doctor said during an appearance on Rose Unplugged 1320 WJAS.

Ms Markson scorched the WHO team which visited Wuhan earlier this year to investigate the origin of the pandemic.

“People like Peter Daszak insisted that it was a conspiracy theory – he used the term in a tweet from December 2020 – that it was a conspiracy theory to say that there were bats in the lab,” she said.

“He’s an official WHO, World Health Organisation, investigator who went into Wuhan to supposedly investigate the origins of the virus earlier this year and it was completely false.

“This new footage shows that there were bets being kept in the Wuhan Institute of Virology and it’s something Peter Daszak has had to admit, has had to correct just this month.

“There’s so much that he didn’t and the WHO team didn’t ask when they went into Wuhan.”

Ms Markson said the WHO team failed to even ask what happened to a colossal database of coronaviruses at the lab.

“They didn’t ask if there were bats at the laboratory, they didn’t ask where the virus database was, this is such a crucial thing, the virus database with some 15,000 or 17,000 bat samples suddenly disappeared from the internet in September 2019 just prior to the outbreak of COVID-19,” she said.

“People like Peter Daszak who went into to supposedly investigate this were riddled with conflicts.

“Anthony Fauci, as well, should not be advising the president on the origin of coronavirus given it was his organisation that funnelled money through a subgrant through to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

“He can issue all the denials that he likes. The scientific papers say that they were funded with NIH.”

Data has been manipulated by scientists carrying out a real-world study for the CDC to show that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for use during pregnancy, however an analysis of the actual findings shows that 4 out of 5 pregnant women vaccinated suffered a miscarriage.

The study entitled ‘Preliminary Findings of mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine Safety in Pregnant Persons’, has been published on the New England Journal of Medicine. From December 14, 2020, to February 28, 2021, data from the “v-safe after vaccination health checker” surveillance system, the v-safe pregnancy registry, and the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) was used to characterise the initial safety of mRNA Covid-19 vaccines in pregnant persons.

The authors conclusion of the study is as follows –

‘Preliminary findings did not show obvious safety signals among pregnant persons who received mRNA Covid-19 vaccines. However, more longitudinal follow-up, including follow-up of large numbers of women vaccinated earlier in pregnancy, is necessary to inform maternal, pregnancy, and infant outcomes.’

The authors of the study, which include the ‘CDC v-safe COVID-19 Pregnancy Registry Team’ were able to conclude this due to way they presented their findings which were as follows –

‘Among 827 participants who had a completed pregnancy, the pregnancy resulted in a live birth in 712 (86.1%), in a spontaneous abortion in 104 (12.6%), in stillbirth in 1 (0.1%), and in other outcomes (induced abortion and ectopic pregnancy) in 10 (1.2%).’

The authors of the study also made the following claim based on the above numbers –

Although not directly comparable, calculated proportions of adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in persons vaccinated against Covid-19 who had a completed pregnancy were similar to incidences reported in studies involving pregnant women that were conducted before the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, when reading the small print of table 4, in which they claim just 104 / 12.6% of 827 completed pregnancies resulted in miscarriage (spontaneous abortion), we can see that the numbers they have presented are extremely misleading.

This is because of the 827 completed pregnancies, 700 / 86% of the women had received a dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccine during the third trimester of pregnancy. The third trimester of pregnancy is from week 27 – 40, and it is therefore impossible to suffer a miscarriage due to the fact they are considered as occurring prior to week 20 of a pregnancy.

This means just 127 women received either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccine during the first / second trimester, with 104 of the woman sadly losing their baby.

Therefore the rate of incidence of miscarriage is 82%, not 12.6% as presented in the findings of the study.

It is impossible for anyone vaccinated during the third trimester to suffer a miscarriage in respect of the parameters set in the study. A pregnancy loss in this case would be considered a still birth, occurring after week 20 of pregnancy.

The authors of this study have manipulated the data to show that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for use during pregnancy. The actual findings show that they are far from it. Their actions are now having dire consequences for women throughout the United Kingdom.

As of the 23rd June 2021 a total of 289 women have reported the loss of their baby due to the Covid-19 vaccines. However, the actual number could be eye-wateringly higher due to only 1% – 10% of adverse reactions being reported to the scheme.

153 reports of miscarriage, 1 report of a premature baby sadly dying, 5 reports of foetal death, and 4 reports of stillbirth have been reported as adverse reactions to the Pfizer vaccine.

113 reports of miscarriage, 1 report of foetal death, and 2 reports of stillbirth have been reported as adverse reactions to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

7 reports of miscarriage have been reported as adverse reactions to the recently emergency approved Moderna vaccine.

WASHINGTON D.C., July 9, 2021 (Judicial Watch) – Judicial Watch announced today that it received 301 pages of emails and other records from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) officials in connection with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, revealing significant collaborations and funding that began in 2014. These new records reveal that NIAID gave nine China-related grants to EcoHealth Alliance to research coronavirus emergence in bats and was the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) top issuer of grants to the Wuhan lab itself.

These records also include an email from the Vice Director of the Wuhan Lab asking an NIH official for help finding disinfectants for decontamination of airtight suits and indoor surfaces.

Additionally, a World Health Day announcement lists “successful activities” of the U.S.-China collaboration that included “detailed surveillance throughout China and in other countries on the emergence of coronaviruses” and NIH’s receipt of influenza samples from China to “assess risks associated with emerging variants for pandemic and zoonotic threat.”

The records further show that, in 2018, Dr. Ping Chen, the NIAID Representative in China, learned of a “type of new flu vaccine using nano-technology from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology,” and discovered that the Chinese had blocked all Internet links to reports on the new technology. This led Chen to write an urgent “night note” to U.S. Government officials. The note said, “The intranasal nano-vaccine can target broad-spectrum flu viruses and induces robust immune responses.”

The documents also include a picture of the Wuhan facility building taken by Dr. Chen.

The documents were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for records of communications, contracts and agreements with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 1:21-cv-00696)). The lawsuit specifically sought records about NIH grants that benefitted the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The agency is only processing 300 pages records per month, which means it will take until the end of November for the records to be fully reviewed and released under FOIA.
