Tanzania: President Disappears, Fueling Coronavirus Rumors

Tanzanian President John Magufuli is allegedly in India receiving medical treatment for the Chinese coronavirus, Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu told Reuters on Thursday.

Magufuli was “flown to Kenya’s Nairobi Hospital at the start of this week and then on to an unknown destination in India,” Lissu told Reuters on March 11.

“He’s comatose since yesterday morning,” the politician claimed, without providing further details.

Lissu did not provide Reuters with evidence for his claims, instead citing unidentified medical and security officials in Kenya as his information sources.

Magufuli was last seen in public on February 27 during a ceremony at the Tanzanian State House in Dar es Salaam. His nearly two week-absence from the public eye since then sparked speculation he may be ill.

“We’re informed when [former Tanzanian President Jakaya] Kikwete had prostate surgery. We’re told when [former Tanzanian President Benjamin] Mkapa went for hip replacement … What’s it with Magufuli that we don’t deserve to know?” Lissu, who lost Tanzania’s last presidential election in 2020 to Magufuli, wrote in a Twitter statement on March 9:

Biden Can Trigger a Regional War by Reviving the Nuclear Deal

Governments in the Middle East have a valid reason to be concerned about the nuclear deal. They have already witnessed its negative consequences.

[T]his would have not been the outcome if Israel and other regional powers had been part of the negotiations.

The composition of the current negotiating team, similar to the previous one, completely excludes those on Iran's doorstep. In an approach reminiscent of the bygone colonial era, it remains a policy set by governments thousands of miles away.

Arab nations have already seen the consequences of the previous attempt at striking a nuclear deal. The Iranian-armed Houthis simply ratcheted up efforts to cause death and destruction in Yemen, and Hezbollah escalated its involvement and control of large swathes of Syrian territory.

By returning to a deal which brought nothing but heightened destruction and instability to the region, the Biden administration would be abandoning old allies such as Israel and Saudi Arabia – which at least has begun instituting reforms – and instead empowering a regime that remains an existential threat to the entire Middle East.

Illinoisans Are Over-Taxed, New Study Confirms

Two separate 50-state comparisons of state and local tax burdens released this week confirm Illinoisans pay some of the nation’s highest taxes.

WalletHub, the personal finance company, calculated that Illinoisans pay the highest effective tax rates in the country. A more comprehensive study by the Tax Foundation, a non-partisan think-tank, says Illinoisans pay the nation’s 10th-highest tax burden.

Either way, their findings validate what Illinoisans instinctively know: they’re overtaxed.

According to WalletHub, Illinois’ effective state-local tax rate is 15.01 percent. The median amount an Illinois household can expect to pay is $9,488 in taxes. Illinois beat out Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Kansas to take the top-taxing position in the country.

Foreign Ministry: The EU responsible for suffering and bloodshed of the Syrian people

Damascus, SANA -Syria has affirmed that the EU is responsible for suffering and bloodshed of the Syrian people and their livelihood through its support for terrorism with all its forms in addition to the economic terrorism, affirming that the EU has no right to pretend caring about the Syrians, and it has no capacity to undertake any positive role.

An official source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that the EU issued a statement about Syria which is full of fallacies and allegations that ignore the situation, and this stresses its continued hostile policies towards Syria.

The source went on to say that the participation of EU in the aggression against Syria through supporting terrorist groups and the economic terrorism of unilateral coercive and illegitimate measures, makes the EU responsible for suffering and bloodshed of Syrian people.

“The colonial dreams of some members at the EU have become part of the past, and the Syrian people, who expelled the French occupation, will not allow it to return again or intervene in Syrian affairs, and they must realize that the national decision will be only Syrian,” the source added.

It noted that Conferences held by the EU regarding Syria, which gather enemies of the Syrian people, are continuation of its incorrect approach towards Syria and its attempts to target the Syrian national sovereignty.

” Passing ten years upon the unjust war on Syria is an occasion to condemn the hostile policies of the EU against Syria,” the source concluded.

Massive $1.9T covid “relief” bill is nothing more than a massive money laundering operation to pay back Democrat donors and supporters

If you’re an American who was hard hit economically by lockdowns, stay-and-home orders and mandatory business closures and restrictions and you believe that the COVID-19 ‘relief’ bill currently winding its way through the Democrat-controlled Congress will finally bring some respite, you’re going to be very disappointed.

Because in reality, while spending that kind of money solely on businesses and Americans who need the help would be more than enough to make up for what many have lost, the bulk of those funds aren’t going to hard-working Americans.

No, the vast majority of that money has already been earmarked — for Democrat-controlled cities, states and special interests.

Again, the bulk of nearly $2 trillion in 100 percent deficit spending isn’t going to help you, Mr. and Mrs. Ordinary American.

But of the money going to Americans, federal workers (already a huge Democrat constituency, by the way) are being rewarded with more than Americans who aren’t federal workers and instead are busy toiling away in the private sector.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” Monday morning, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) dissected the bill in a way that few others have, revealing things that were previously hidden inside the hundreds of pages of legislation that, frankly, should infuriate the vast majority of Americans.

For one, the bill calls for a one-time $1,400 payment to most Americans, but gives $1,400 per week to federal workers whose kids are still being kept out of in-person classes.

There are also hundreds of billions in payouts to deep blue cities and states that were in debt long before COVID-19 came over from China because they have long been run by Democrats who couldn’t manage a lemonade stand without driving it into bankruptcy.

Also, Cotton said, most of the money isn’t even spent right away (we thought it was for pandemic relief!?). And, he said, there there’s a major reason why Joe Biden and Democrats are engaged in a full-court press to get this trillion-dollar boondoggle passed: The pandemic is waning as is the urgency for new ‘relief.’

“One reason I think Joe Biden thinks there’s no time to waste is that Democrats can see cases have plummeted since early January,” Cotton said.

“They can see that we now have three effective vaccines, and vaccination rates are surging, so I think they’re worried they won’t have the coronavirus as an excuse to pay off all their clients and patrons in a $1.9 trillion blowout bill,” he noted further. “As you said, less than a dime of every dollar goes to coronavirus,” the Harvard-educated lawyer and multi-combat tour former Army infantry officer added.
