AG Paxton: Alaska, Florida, Montana, Nevada and Puerto Rico Join Texas-Led Bipartisan Antitrust Lawsuit Against Google

Attorney General Ken Paxton filed an amended complaint alleging antitrust violations and deceptive acts by Google in its lucrative online display advertising business. Attorneys General from Alaska, Florida, Montana, Nevada, and Puerto Rico joined the lawsuit originally filed by a coalition of 10 states, led by Texas, bringing the total number of plaintiffs to 15 states and territories in this landmark case.

“I’m proud to welcome Alaska, Florida, Montana, Nevada, and Puerto Rico to our multistate lawsuit against this monopolistic tech giant. Today’s filing underscores the broad consensus that Google’s practices require review and swift action under antitrust and consumer protection laws,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Google collects thousands of data points about people and uses that information for its own gain while lying to advertisers, publishers, and consumers about their conduct and underlying motives. We will not allow this unprecedented, unlawful conduct to continue. Our coalition looks forward to holding Google accountable for its illegal conduct and reforming Google’s practices in the future. And we are confident Google will be forced to pay for its misconduct through significant financial penalties.”

Like the original Complaint filed in December 2020, the Amended Complaint that was filed yesterday alleges multiple violations of federal and state antitrust and consumer protection laws, including anticompetitive conduct, exclusionary practices, and deceptive misrepresentation in connection with Google’s role in the multi-trillion-dollar online display advertising industry. Google’s monopolization includes an anticompetitive agreement with Facebook, making misrepresentations to users and customers, and suppressing competition. Google demonstrably diminished publishers’ ability to monetize content, increased advertisers’ costs, and directly harmed consumers.

Facebook Needs To Be Broken Up – Benny Thomas, Facebook Global Planning Lead

Facebook Global Planning Lead reveals in an undercover sting video that Facebook needs to be broken up and requires Government intervention. “No king in the history of the world has been the ruler of two billion people, but Mark Zuckerberg is — and he’s 36. That’s too much for a 36-year-old. You should not have power over two billion people. I just think that’s wrong,” he said.

Facebook Needs To Be Broken Up - Benny Thomas, Facebook Global Planning Lead

In a new undercover video released by Project Veritas, Benny Thomas, Facebook’s Global Planning Lead revealed a lot about Facebook.

He revealed that Facebook has become so much powerful that government action is not only warranted but required to limit the damage it does to society. He reveals the necessity for government intervention.

He said ‘The Single Biggest Thing is this Company Needs to be Broken Up’…‘No King in the History of the World has been the Ruler of Two Billion People, but Mark Zuckerberg is’

“I would break up Facebook, which means I would make less money probably — but I don’t care. Like that’s what needs to be done. Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Oculus, WhatsApp — they all need to be separate companies. It’s too much power when they’re all one together,” he said.

As per the interview, people are not aware of the excessive power of Facebook. People don’t think about it as they do not understand such things. Most people are not paying attention to it.

“No king in the history of the world has been the ruler of two billion people, but Mark Zuckerberg is — and he’s 36. That’s too much for a 36-year-old. You should not have power over two billion people. I just think that’s wrong,” he said.

“He [Zuckerberg] owns a controlling stake in the company. So, you can’t do it the usual way that you do in corporate, which is the board can just fire you, right? The board can’t do that to Zuck. The board can’t do that to Larry Page and Sergey Brin [Google] because they own too much of the company. They’re too powerful. So, these are not companies anymore. These are countries,” he said.

As per his revelation, the algorithms of Facebook are subject to human biases.

He said: “There’s always built-in [algorithmic] bias…Guess what? Human beings wrote that code,” he said.

“We’re re-looking at the algorithms, but it’s such a massive and complicated thing that it takes time to fix it. Honestly, I think we need to bite the bullet and do it quicker, but you lose a lot of money as well if you do that,” he said.

“AI [Artificial Intelligence] is essentially evolving to become like human intelligence. Then, it’s going to go beyond human intelligence and at that point, humans are expendable…If you ever went to a picnic — we would not spend one minute thinking about the ants that we stepped on the grass, right?”

“From AI, we will become like those ants…So, I might be killing hundreds of ants when I walk in the park, I don’t know, and I don’t care. It’s not a thing that I care about. We will be like those ants,” he said.

Putin vows to take down Twitter: Service will be blocked in Russia in 30 days if it does not delete 'banned content' related to porn, suicide and Alexis Navalny protests

Russia has vowed to remove Twitter in a month in a row over 'banned content'

Watchdog says site failed to remove content about suicide, drugs and child porn

But critics say move is designed to stop opposition leaders organising protests

Comes a day after Alexei Navalny posted his first update from inside jail

Russia has threatened to block Twitter within 30 days unless the site acts to remove what the government refers to as 'banned content'.

Vadim Subbotin, deputy head of watchdog Roskomnadzor, said on Tuesday that the ban would come into effect unless Twitter removed the content, which he said includes child porn and information on child suicide and drugs.

But critics say the crackdown is actually an attempt to stop Putin's political opponents organising rallies, as they did in a number of cities earlier this year.

Subbotin issued his threat just a day after Putin's main critic, Alexei Navalny, posted his first update from inside jail - sharing an image of himself with a shaved head.
