The vast majority of the human population is controlled without their awareness or comprehension it is even possible to be so influenced. A lot of it is ordinary people have no reason to suspect intelligence agencies would take an interest of them, but they are very frequently manipulated, often for the basest and pettiest reasons.
For example, suppose someone is a very qualified candidate for a position. But the person they're competing with for the position is a favorite niece of someone well-connected. Mysteriously, the highly qualified candidate suffers a rare, debilitating illness. Unable to follow through with the interview process, the favorite niece is awarded the position. And the only person who ever realizes manipulation occurred is the well-connected person.
It happens all the time. Most people never realize. For most, they experience it as a sudden disruption to their lives, then they recover and get on with their lives.
Explains why so many massive mediocrities are in positions of prestige and influence. Explains why the children of politicos and insiders always get sweetheart jobs making six figures in "philanthropy."
Probably the overwhelming majority of humanity has been manipulated at some point by someone at an intelligence agency. Lots of little manipulations, little sabotages, little harms, which total up to a near comprehensive invisible tyranny imposed on everyone.
The focus on "sexy" injustices like baby eating and human trafficking overlooks the collective assault on everyone living and breathing. It's the "small" injustices committed against humans the people deserve to know about, too. Probably those "small injustices" are the thing which would actually get everyone so riled up they would go full-out lynch mob on DC…
