24 hours before the apparent shooting in Atlanta a local news station here featured a brief story about the arrest of a black guy for attacking two people "in the street": attacker was a black male, victims were Asian (though whether from Pakistan or Korea or Turkey we were not told) and they made a point of stressing that despite this there was no indication this was a racially-motivated crime.
