No one wanted him for the Daily Show. Even Jon told everyone to calm down and give him a chance.
That said, I firmly believe Jon is a good guy, fading into the ether except to fight for 9/11 workers' medical expenses.
Colbert is a plant imo. Good guy acting like he's not.
