Vladimir Putin and his staff sought the almost ritualistic humiliation of then-Vice President Joe Biden, who commanded very little respect on the world stage during his tenure as veep. If it can be believed, he commands even less, now. Ever since that moment I witnessed, Joe Biden and his staffers – with the help of Washington’s press corps – have been spinning the story 180 degrees away from how it actually happened.

After Biden lied about his prowess with Putin in a sickly sweet interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Putin pulled his ambassador out of Washington. It’s a pretty big move from Putin out of the blocks. Usually, if you fear a nation and its leader, you don’t start by pulling your ambassador. This is Putin’s telling the Biden regime: “We don’t need you, and we don’t fear you.”

It’s quite a stark difference from the Trump administration, which sanctioned Russia while engaging in diplomacy. The media chastised Trump for attempting to avoid a pointless conflict with Russia. That’s the same press that is now fawning over Joe Biden’s kowtowing to the Chinese Communist Party.

As an aside, Stephanopoulos never pressed Biden on how his son Hunter Biden was compromised by a Putin-friendly Moscow woman’s $3.5 million money transfer, as reported by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee last September.

Head Of ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ Org Arrested For Child Porn.

Brett Blomme – a former head of the Cream City LGBTQ+ Foundation which runs a Drag Queen Story Hour program – was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography.

Blomme, 38, was taken into custody “following an investigation into multiple uploads of child pornography through a Kik messaging application account in October and November 2020,” according to a statement.

A 44-page search warrant filed Friday by a Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) special agent said investigators found Blomme, using the name “dommasterbb,” uploaded 27 videos and images containing child pornography. Two of the files were uploaded at a Milwaukee County government building, the search warrant said,” a summary notes.

Blomme formerly served as the President of the Cream City Foundation from 2017 to 2020, which describes itself as “mobilizing philanthropic resources by harnessing the pride, passion, and commitment of LGBTQ+.”

The foundation also runs a Drag Queen Story Hour program, an event that “captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.”

“In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real” a description adds.

Report: Emails show how Biden will implement Green New Deal agenda through 'backdoor'

Who needs a Congress when you have administrative agencies?

Newly reported emails appear to show how state Democratic attorneys general are conspiring with far-left climate activists on a plan to implement the Green New Deal through the "backdoor."

President Joe Biden has called for a "clean energy revolution," proposing $2 trillion in federal spending over four years on clean energy initiatives, infrastructure projects, and new climate regulations. Among his first actions in office were several executive actions implementing aspects of the Green New Deal — a progressive legislative agenda designed to fundamentally transform the U.S. economy to meet far-left climate standards.

The more radical elements of the Green New Deal, including reducing CO2 emissions by regulating the greenhouse gas (which every person on this planet exhales as they breathe) as a "pollutant," do not have enough support in Congress to become law. But Democrats and climate activists have strategized on how to use the Biden administration's Environmental Protection Agency to circumvent Congress and implement their agenda through regulation.

Emails obtained by Chris Horner at Energy Policy Advocates and reported by the Wall Street Journal show how in 2019 Democratic state attorneys general consulted a Biden administration bureaucrat on strategies to regulate CO2 through the "backdoor" without Congressional approval.

Here's the background:

The Supreme Court ruled in 2009 that the Clean Air Act's general definition of "pollutant" covers greenhouse gases.

The Obama administration interpreted that ruling to mean the EPA could regulate certain greenhouse gasses, listing six such gasses — nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, lead, carbon monoxide, ozone, and particulate matter — as "criteria pollutants" that directly harm human health and can be regulated by National Air Ambient Quality Standards.

Climate activists want a seventh greenhouse gas, CO2, to be regulated as a "criteria pollutant," but the difference between CO2 and the other gasses is CO2 doesn't directly harm human health. It doesn't cause disease, and standards regulating CO2 emission are difficult to implement because those emissions are hard to measure locally.

The Obama administration concluded it was not "advisable" to regulate CO2 as a "criteria pollutant" and the idea was abandoned.

But climate lobbyists did not give up.

Biological male wins female beauty pageant in Nevada

'A celebration of womanhood and diversity'

A transgender person is now one step closer to being crowned Miss USA.

Kataluna Enriquez, a biological male, won the Miss Silver State USA pageant this week, an event considered the biggest preliminary competition for the Miss Nevada USA pageant, KVVU-TV reported.

The outlet called it a "monumental win" for Enriquez, who will now move on to the statewide competition in the pageant circuit that leads to Miss USA and, eventually, the Miss Universe competition.

The pageants, collectively run by the Miss Universe Organization, were once owned by former President Donald Trump and are widely recognized for awarding among the most coveted crowns in the pageant world.

In an interview with the local news outlet after the victory, Enriquez called the experience "a celebration of womanhood and diversity and this celebration of being your true self."

But Enriquez noted that she has not always been so well liked in the pageant world. She recalled at a previous pageant, which she chose not to name in the report, when event organizers found out she was a transgender, they required her to provide medical documents to prove she was female. The organizers also allegedly refused to assign her a roommate.

"I was asked to provide documents that were invasive in my opinion physically asking me to get a letter from my doctor," Enriquez said. "It brought me back to a time where I felt like I was not welcome."

But according to KVVU-TV, Enriquez said instead of shying away from her transgender identity based on past experiences she has decided to make "awareness of the transgender community" her pageant platform.

That message evidently resonated in the Miss Silver State USA pageant and may prove to benefit Enriquez in upcoming competitions, especially as transgenderism gains popularity in progressive circles and pressure mounts to avoid even the slightest appearance of discrimination.

Over the last few years, pageant organizations have started to receive entries from more and more biological males and have been hit with backlash upon denying the participants from competing.

In 2018, Angela Ponce, winner of that year's Miss Universe Spain pageant, was at one point the favorite to be crowned Miss Universe.

The Miss Nevada USA pageant is scheduled for June, according to the report.

Credit Suisse is still reeling from the collapse of Greensill Capital, a firm which it championed by helping to sell its financial products (created by ensconcing trade invoices in a complex securities wrapper). 8 months after the first reports emerged about the bank's potential involvement in a risky "circular financing scheme" involving SoftBank and Greensill (which the bank pledged to investigate at the time), CS and its clients have been left holding the bag (after CS gated some $10 billion in funds stocked with Greensill products, claiming that, without insurance coverage, the assets had become impossible to value). And now the bank is understandably eager to scapegoat some employees, in accordance with the Wall Street scandal playbook.

According to the FT's latest report on the scandal, Credit Suisse is overhauling its asset management business (separating it out from its broader wealth management unit for fear of the red ink) and suspending bonuses for certain senior executives. The decision comes as CS warned Thursday that some of its clients had threatened litigation. Between the lawsuits and furious clients pulling their money, CS executives are worried that the impact on its operating results could be "material." What's even worse (for CS and its shareholders, at least), is that Swiss financial regulator Finma has imposed higher capital requirements on the bank, essentially capping the bank's potential earnings by limiting the money it can put to 'economically productive' use.

Moscow Court Sentences Banker in ‘Russian Laundromat’ Case

A court in Russia sentenced banker Oleg Kuzmin on Monday to nine years in prison and ordered him to pay a one-million-ruble (US$13.574) fine for his part in a major money-laundering operation known as the “Russian Laundromat” or the “Moldovan Scheme,” Kommersant reported.

The operation that lasted from 2010 until 2014 may have been the largest of this kind in Eastern Europe, with more than US$20 billion of illicit money transferred from Russia to Moldova and Latvia through a complex series of intermediaries, a 2014 OCCRP investigation revealed.

Implicated in it were not just members of organized crime groups, but politicians, finance and industry leaders and even judges.

In Moldova, the project was supported by major political figures, such as Renato Usatii, president of Moldova’s “Our Party” and ex-head of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc.

According to Kommersant, the court found that Kuzmin had knowingly allowed his bank, “European Express” to transfer the money out of the country and into foreign banks.

Though the court was originally seeking 10 years for Kuzmin, they cut it down by one in recognition of the fact that he complied with all pre-trial requirements and turned witness against his fellow conspirators in the scheme.

Nonetheless, his attorney still derided the sentence as overly strict and said he will appeal.

Norwegian Doctor Claims To Find Link Between AstraZeneca Vaccine And Rare Blood Clots

As we wait for the EMA's decision, a top Norwegian health official tasked with investigating a series of three high-profile cases of health-care workers under the age of 50 being hospitalized for similar cases of rare blood clots after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine have proposed a theory that's bound to infuriate AstraZeneca, along with the EMA and WHO.

Chief physician and professor Pål Andre Holme told Norwegian papers on Thursday, just hours before the EMA was set to release the findings of its promised "safety review" (which was conducted even more hastily than the initial vaccine studies), that he has a new theory about what caused the reactions in the health workers, and unfortunately, per Holme, the AstraZeneca jab acted as the trigger.

"The reason for the condition of our patients has been found," chief physician and professor Pål Andre Holme announced to Norwegian national newspaper VG today.

He has lead the work to find out why three health workers under the age of 50 were hospitalized with serious blood clots and low levels of blood platelets after having taken the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine. One of the health workers died on Monday.

The experts have worked on a theory that it was in fact the vaccine which triggered and unexpected and powerful immune response - a theory they now believe they have confirmed.

"Our theory that this is a powerful immune response which most likely was caused by the vaccine has been found. In collaboration with experts in the field from the University Hospital of North Norway HF, we have found specific antibodies against blood platelets that can cause these reactions, and which we know from other fields of medicine, but then with medical drugs as the cause of the reaction," the chief physician explains to VG.

Nolte: Joe Biden Breaks Promise to Not Raise Taxes on ‘Anybody’ Making Less Than $400K

As a candidate, His Fraudulency Joe Biden pledged not to raise taxes on “anybody” making $400,000 or less. On Wednesday, the White House basically announced Biden had lied. Akshually, the number is more like $200,000.

Back in August, during an interview with far-left ABC News, Biden declaratively said, “I will raise taxes for anybody making over $400,000.”

“So no new taxes for anyone under $400,000?” the interviewers asked. Biden responds, “No new taxes. There’s no need for new taxes.”

Naturally, Biden was responding to a question about Trump warning people that Biden would raise their taxes — a warning that is now proving to be 100 percent accurate.

My, my, what a difference an election makes…

On Wednesday, Press Secretary Lyin’ Ginger informed the world what Biden reeealllyyy meant was that he would raise taxes on pretty much everyone making $200,000:

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday clarified that President Biden’s proposed tax hike would apply to people who earn $200,000 per year if they are married to someone who makes the same amount.

Psaki said at her daily press briefing that the proposed $400,000 threshold for tax increases applies to “families” rather than individuals.

But-but-but His Fraudulency said “anybody,” said he would not raise taxes on “anybody” making less than $400,000. He did not say families. He said “anybody,” which is singular, which includes those who are part of families.

In fact, during his first major television interview this week, which was naturally done with George Stephanopoulos, a lifelong Democrat and Clinton loyalist, His Fraudulency again repeated the “anybody” lie.

“Yes, anybody making more than $400,000 will see a small to a significant tax increase,” he said.

Then he added this: “If you make less than $400,000, you won’t see one single penny in additional federal tax.”

But then, within hours, Lyin’ Ginger has to clarify when His Fraudulency says “anybody” he doesn’t really mean “anybody” and when His Fraudulency says “$400,000” he doesn’t doesn’t really mean “$400,000.”

Listen, I could not care less if Biden soaks these rich assholes for every penny. While I personally have always believed that taxing the rich is morally wrong and terrible economics, now the rich are all voting Democrat, I’m all in favor of them getting exactly what they voted for.

Report: WHO Granted China Authority To Veto Scientists On Wuhan Mission

The Chinese government maintained tight control of a World Health Organization investigation in Wuhan into the origins of the coronavirus, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, which said that Beijing was granted veto power over which scientists were allowed to take part in the mission.

According to the Journal, the constraints placed on the WHO team rendered the scientists unable to conduct a thorough investigation into the virus’ origins.

A team of more than a dozen scientists, including one American, visited Wuhan last month, where they met with Chinese authorities and scientists to figure out how the coronavirus first infected humans.

A report of the investigation is expected to be released next week, after Chinese authorities have had a chance to review it and make edits, according to the Journal.

Some members of the WHO team, including Peter Daszak, the lone American on the mission, have dismissed one prominent theory that the virus originated from an accident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which studies coronaviruses.

Most of the scientists have said that they believe that the virus jumped from an animal species in Western China to humans, possibly at one of Wuhan’s outdoor food markets.

Daszak has come under criticism from some within the scientific community who say he has a conflict of interest because his organization, EcoHealth Alliance, has worked closely with the Wuhan Institute. Daszak also organized a group of scientists in February 2020 to release a letter that called the lab leak hypothesis a “conspiracy theory.”

Officials in both the Trump and Biden administrations have criticized the Chinese government for withholding information from the WHO team.

“We have deep concerns about the way in which the early findings of the COVID-19 investigation were communicated and questions about the process used to reach them,” National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement on Feb. 12.

Police will begin recording offences believed to be motivated by misogyny as hate crimes in the wake of Sarah Everard’s apparent murder, Boris Johnson’s government has confirmed.

Speaking for the Johnson administration in the House of Lords, Home Office junior minister the Baroness Williams of Trafford said that from the autumn of 2021, “we will ask police forces to record and identify any crimes of violence against the person, including stalking and harassment and sexual offences, where the victim perceives it to have been motivated by a hostility based on their sex, which, as I have said, can then inform longer-term decisions.”

Prime Minister Johnson, who describes himself as a feminist, according to his new White House style press secretary, former Guardian and BBC journalist Allegra Stratton, told the House of Commons that “We have to address the fundamental issue of the casual everyday sexism and apathy that fails to address the concerns of women – that is the underlying issue.”

Netherlands Changes Rules Mid-Election to Allow Rejected Postal Votes

The Netherlands has changed its postal voting system mid-election, which could result in thousands of votes previously considered invalid to be counted.

Dutch Interior Minister Kajsa Ollongren announced the changes this week after it emerged that as many as five to ten per cent of the postal votes cast appeared to have errors making them invalid. In previous elections, the total number of rejected votes is usually around 0.3 per cent.

Algemeen Dagblad explained that postal voters were given two envelopes: a voting envelope and a return envelope. Voters were instructed to put their ballot in the voting envelope, and then their voting pass and the voting envelope in the return envelope for mailing. This method keeps the ballot secret by allowing staff to validate the vote as legitimate without actually seeing which candidate the voter selected.

The Dutch newspaper said the invalid ballots were generally a result of people mistakenly putting their voting pass in the voting envelope with the ballot, rather than separately within the return envelope. The paper also claims that most postal voters are over the age of 70.

Under the new rules, polling station workers will be able to open the envelopes containing the ballot papers to retrieve the voting pass, a practice that was not allowed previously due to concerns over vote secrecy.

Ollongren said that voter secrecy concerns were not an issue and that the folded ballot paper would not be looked at or unfolded by the polling staff.

‘Safe & effective’: EU drugs regulator backs AstraZeneca Covid-19 jab, though 'can’t definitively rule out' blood clot link

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is continuing to study reports of rare blood clot events potentially linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine, but said on Thursday that the jab “is safe and effective in preventing Covid-19”.

Following a review of the vaccine and reported rare incidents of blood clots among recipients, the EMA did not find a link to an overall risk of blood clotting, but will continue its investigations.

The regulator’s findings come after 13 EU member states halted their rollouts of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company developed with Oxford University.

Speaking at a press conference to discuss the agency's review, EMA chief Emer Cooke said the regulator’s Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee had come to a “clear scientific conclusion” after reviewing reports of blood clotting.

Cooke added that despite days of in-depth analysis of numerous evidence, the EMA “still cannot rule out definitively” a link between cases of blood clotting and the vaccine.

The regulator has therefore recommended highlighting the possible risks in updated product information and will launch additional investigations and studies into blood clotting, she said.

“This is a safe and effective vaccine, its benefits in protecting people from Covid-19 with the associated risks of death and hospitalization outweigh the possible risks,” Cooke said.

The committee also concluded that the vaccine is not associated with an increase in the overall risk of thromboembolic events or blood clots.

Cooke did stress, however, that during the EMA probe and review, officials saw a “small number of cases of rare and unusual but very serious clotting disorders” that had led to a more focused review, which is underway.

About 7 million people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine in the EU and 11 million in the UK, and the jab is being rolled out in other countries.

The benefits of using the AstraZeneca vaccine “outweigh its risks”, the World Health Organization and the UK’s drugs regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, said in statements Thursday.

Concerns about the AstraZeneca vaccine arose earlier this month when Austria paused its rollout of the jab after one person who received it died from thrombosis and a second was hospitalized with pulmonary embolism. Last week other EU nations followed in temporarily suspending their use of the jab, with Germany, France and Italy becoming the latest to pause their rollouts on Monday.

Spain was among those to suspend its vaccination drive with AstraZeneca, but on Thursday its interregional council for the Covid-19 response is set to meet and discuss resuming use of the jab.

Papers Please: European Union Unveils Coronavirus Vaccine Passport Scheme

The European Commission unveiled its proposal for a coronavirus vaccine passport scheme on Wednesday, with the hopes of opening up travel within the bloc by the summer.

The so-called Digital Green Certificate will be a QR code-based system that will provide individuals with proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from the Chinese coronavirus, or the results of a COVID-19 test. The certificate will be available either as a paper hard copy or through a smartphone application.

The Commission claimed that the scheme will be temporary and that it will be suspended once the World Health Organization (WHO) declares an end to the Chinese coronavirus world health emergency.

Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová, said: “The Digital Green Certificate offers an EU-wide solution to ensure that EU citizens benefit from a harmonised digital tool to support free movement in the EU. This is a good message in support of recovery.

“Our key objectives are to offer an easy to use, non-discriminatory and secure tool that fully respects data protection. And we continue working towards international convergence with other partners.”

The announcement comes just a little over a week after Communist China became the first country in the world to roll out a vaccine passport.

Releasing COVID-Untested Migrant Teens into Texas Was a ‘Mistake,’ Says DHS Secretary

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told members of the House Judiciary Committee that releasing migrants into Texas border communities without testing them for COVID-19 was a mistake.

Mayorkas, in his first appearance before the committee since being confirmed as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said he did not know how many people had been released without being tested, the Washington Times reported.

Mayorkas avoided questions from Republican members of the committee who tried to nail down the numbers and if the mistake had been corrected.

“There have been times when we have not met our responsibility as well as we should have,” the DHS secretary told the committee. “Those instances are brought to the attention of leadership, and they are addressed and we improved based on the mistakes made.”

He said it is their policy to hope communities and charities are able to conduct the testing when Border Patrol agents release the migrants, the Times reported.

Lawmakers repeatedly pressed the secretary on whether his department is executing on its policy to have migrants tested before they are released.

After being pressed several times by multiple Republican congressmen, Mayorkas finally said they are “doing the best we can.”

The agency has also been unclear on quarantine procedures for those who test positive. Local authorities have put some into hotels for quarantine, but admit they have no authority to hold them if they want to leave.

Advisors who have visited the border have provided President Joe Biden with detailed briefings 'with photos' on the conditions inside government holding facilities at the border, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday.

She provided the detail amid an uproar over a flood of unaccompanied children at the border – with the government holding more than 3,000 of them beyond the three days set by law inside Customs and Border Patrol facilities.

Psaki was asked at her daily press briefing why Biden did not have plans to visit the border amid the immigration surge. 'Because his focus is on action,' said Psaki, a day after Biden said he didn't have plans to go 'at the moment.'

She said Biden has been briefed on conditions by his team, including officials who traveled there in recent days.

'He talks to plenty of officials. He also has received a briefing with photos, and directly from his team that went and visited the border,' she said.

She then confirmed to DailyMail.com that Biden has specifically been shown photographs from inside facilities where unaccompanied children are being held upon arrival. The administration has confirmed in some cases they are held for more than the three days that federal law limits for such facilities

“Because I believe that we are in the late stage of this Big Debt Cycle … I believe cash is and will continue to be trash (i.e., have returns that are significantly negative relative to inflation) so it pays to a) borrow cash rather than to hold it as an asset and b) buy higher-returning, non-debt investment assets,” Dalio wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Tax changes will play a massive role in dealing with the debt problem going forward, he elaborated. And more importantly, there might be restrictions in terms of where investors could move their capital.

“Policymakers who are short of money will raise taxes and won’t like these capital movements out of debt assets and into other storehold of wealth assets and other tax domains so they could very well impose prohibitions against capital movements to other assets (e.g., gold, Bitcoin, etc.) and other locations. These tax changes could be more shocking than expected,” the founder of the world’s biggest hedge fund said.

Dalio’s analysis is based on how things have worked in the past and what is happening with debt now.

“I am confident that tax changes will also play an important role in driving capital flows to different investment assets and different locations, and those movements will influence market movements,” he said.

As an example, Dalio reminded investors that during the 1930-45 period, the Fed was able to control yields by “outlawing gold and the movement of capital elsewhere.”

Mayor Lori Lightfoot launches investigation after 72 employees of Trump's Chicago tower jumped the line to be vaccinated thanks to a hospital boss who lives in a $2.7m condo in the building

An investigation has been launched after it emerged the Chief Operating Officer of a Chicago hospital was able to get the vaccine for 72 employees at the building where he lived, almost three weeks before they were officially eligible for the shot.

Dr. Anosh Ahmed, the COO of Loretto Hospital, located in the city's Oak Park neighborhood, purchased a condominium on the 43rd floor of the Trump building in downtown Chicago in October last year for $2.7 million.

Ahmed, 37, is said to have told acquaintances that he vaccinated Donald Trump's son, Eric, an executive at the Trump Organization and sent a picture around of himself posing with Eric Trump.

Soon after the meeting, 72 workers at the building where Ahmed resides were all treated to the shot weeks ahead of others in more vulnerable categories, reported Block Club Chicago.

Eric Trump is an executive vice president and trustee of the Trump Organization, which owns the Trump Tower hotel and residence, but the millionaire would not have been eligible to be vaccinated in Chicago.

The workers from the Trump Tower in Chicago had its workers receive the shot on March 10th despite city guidelines saying the employees of hotels and residential buildings would not be eligible until March 29th.

At the time, Chicago vaccination centers were limiting the vaccine to vulnerable populations, including people over 65, prisoners, teachers and first responders, not hotel workers or those in hospitality.

The action for the 72 injections was approved by the hospital's chief executive, George Miller who justified the injections by noting that the employees were 'predominantly black and brown,' and the event had been requested by Trump employees who live on Chicago's West Side, near the hospital according to Block Club Chicago.

The small 122-bed hospital is nine miles from the luxury tower block in downtown Chicago and situated in a mainly black neighborhood where people have been hit hard by coronavirus and few have been vaccinated.

~4,300 publicly reachable servers are posing a new DDoS hazard to the Internet

DDoS-for-hire services adopt new technique that amplifies attacks 37 fold.

Criminals are upping the potency of distributed denial-of-service attacks with a technique that abuses a widely used Internet protocol that drastically increases the amount of junk traffic directed at targeted servers.

DDoSes are attacks that flood a website or server with more data than it can handle. The result is a denial of service to people trying to connect to the service. As DDoS-mitigation services develop protections that allow targets to withstand ever-larger torrents of traffic, the criminals respond with new ways to make the most of their limited bandwidth.

Getting amped up

In so-called amplification attacks, DDoSers send requests of relatively small data sizes to certain types of intermediary servers. The intermediaries then send the targets responses that are tens, hundreds, or thousands of times bigger. The redirection works because the requests replace the IP address of the attacker with the address of the server being targeted.

Other well-known amplification vectors include the memcached database caching system with an amplification factor of an astounding 51,000, the Network Time Protocol with a factor of 58, and misconfigured DNS servers with a factor of 50.

DDoS mitigation provider Netscout said on Wednesday that it has observed DDoS-for-hire services adopting a new amplification vector. The vector is the Datagram Transport Layer Security, or D/TLS, which (as its name suggests) is essentially the Transport Layer Security for UDP data packets. Just as TLS prevents eavesdropping, tampering, or forgery of TLS packets, D/TLS does the same for UDP data.

DDoSes that abuse D/TLS allow attackers to amplify their attacks by a factor of 37. Previously, Netscout saw only advanced attackers using dedicated DDoS infrastructure abusing the vector. Now, so-called booter and stressor services—which use commodity equipment to provide for-hire attacks—have adopted the technique. The company has identified almost 4,300 publicly reachable D/LTS servers that are susceptible to the abuse.

The biggest D/TLS-based attacks Netscout has observed delivered about 45Gbps of traffic. The people responsible for the attack combined it with other amplification vectors to achieve a combined size of about 207Gbps.

Skilled attackers with their own attack infrastructure typically discover, rediscover, or improve amplification vectors and then use them against specific targets. Eventually, word will leak into the underground through forums of the new technique. Booter/stressor services then do research and reverse-engineering to add it to their repertoire.

Cuomo's office is blasted for launching 'deeply troubling' SHADOW investigation into his sixth accuser who claims governor fondled her at his executive mansion

Andrew Cuomo's office has opened its own inquiry into allegations by an aide that he groped her last year - sparking anger and concern about a 'shadow inquiry', while the New York attorney general's team continue its work.

The woman's attorney said the inquiry by Cuomo's team, at the same time as AG Letitia James's prosecutors investigate the same allegations, was deeply troubling.

'It's absurd. Why would you be doing that?' he said.

'It's not appropriate, and obviously we're concerned with the ramifications and the effect on witnesses and the quest for the truth.'

It is one of three now being carried out: James' inquiry, one launched by Carl Heastie, the state Speaker of the House, and the internal one.

Heastie's inquiry, into a possible impeachment of Cuomo, was rejected on Wednesday by one of the accusers, Lindsey Boylan.

The internal investigation concerns claims the embattled New York governor groped a female staff member inside the Executive Mansion.

The unnamed female aide, who is said to be much younger than Cuomo and is still employed by the state, claims the 63-year-old governor summoned her to his residence in the Executive Mansion, where he put his hand under her shirt and fondled her.

She said she was summoned by the governor who told her he needed help with his cellphone.

He characterized it as a 'shadow investigation.'

Border Patrol officials have been told to deny all media requests for “ride-alongs” with agents along the southern land border; local press officers are instructed to send all information queries, even from local media, to the press office in Washington for approval; and those responsible for cultivating data about the number of migrants in custody have been reminded not to share the information with anyone to prevent leaks, the officials said.

Multiple news organizations, including NBC News, have requested access to or photos from inside overcrowded border processing facilities holding unaccompanied migrant children; they have been denied. The DHS press office released one photo late Tuesday of a mother and child undergoing a health screening inside a border facility, but no wider shots to show conditions or sleeping arrangements.

At the height of the Trump administration’s child separation policy in June 2018, it allowed media to tour facilities where separated children were held.

Google Wants to Monitor Your Sleep and Health Through Nest

The digital revolution that our nation is currently experiencing is still too present to be fully understood, which makes our willy-nilly embrace of certain aspects of the transformation a bit premature as well.

For instance, the algorithmic ability of some of these companies to unlock patterns of human behavior that would previously go unnoticed otherwise. The question is whether or not everyone who has access to this sort of behavioral data is using it for the most sincere of purposes, and, the larger the corporation, the more room there is for hidden danger.

That’s why some are now bristling at the idea that Google wants to watch us sleep.

Google’s Nest unit is expanding into health technology with a feature that tracks sleep patterns, offering a potential new revenue stream but also raising privacy concerns.

The company unveiled the second-generation model of its Nest Hub smart display in a blog post Tuesday, and this time it comes with a function called Sleep Sensing that monitors the breathing and movement of a person sleeping next to the screen — without a camera or needing to wear a device in bed.

The system also detects disturbances such as coughing and snoring, along with light and temperature changes using the Nest Hub’s built-in microphones and ambient light and temperature sensors. Over time, it learns the user’s sleep patterns and gives personalized recommendations.

Privacy experts have long feared that this technology could someday be turned against us, either by Nest or via some complex hacking routine, which is precisely why the nation at large must begin to keep as keen an eye on Google as they are keeping an eye on us.

Biden Says Leaving Afghanistan By May Would Be ‘Tough’

Biden said he is in the process of deciding when troops will leave and said the US-Taliban deal was not 'very solidly negotiated'

President Biden said in an interview that aired on Wednesday that withdrawing from Afghanistan by the May 1st deadline set by the US-Taliban peace deal will be “tough.”

“I am in the process of making that decision now as to when they will leave,” Biden said of the remaining US troops in Afghanistan. He said the deal signed between the US and the Taliban last year in Doha was not “very solidly negotiated.”

“And so we’re in consultation with our allies as well as the government, and that decision’s in process now,” Biden added. When asked if the process will take longer than May 1st, the president said, “I don’t think a lot longer.” He said a withdrawal by May 1st “could happen, but it is tough.”

The US appears to be trying to buy more time in Afghanistan. The Biden administration presented the Taliban and the US-backed government with a power-sharing deal for an interim government, which both sides are now deliberating on.

Russia is hosting an Afghanistan summit on Thursday and is pushing for the warring sides to accept Washington’s proposal. A Taliban delegation, representatives from the Afghan government, and US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad will meet in Moscow.

Sailor Assigned to Navy Fast-Attack Submarine Dies by Apparent Suicide

A 23-year-old sailor died Monday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound while on duty at a Hawaii shipyard.

Torpedoman's Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer Manuel H. Julian Jr., of California, died at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Navy officials announced Wednesday. Julian was assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine Charlotte, which is moored at the shipyard while it undergoes maintenance.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the submariner's death.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of a Shipmate," a Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, statement says. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sailor’s family, friends and shipmates."

Resources have been made available to support the Charlotte's crew and families, officials added. That includes a chaplain, Fleet and Family Service Center counselors, the command ombudsman, and mental health-care teams.

"Every member of our Navy team is important; this is a painful time for our local community and the U.S. Navy," the statement says.

Julian joined the Navy in 2016. The fast-attack sub has been at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard since April 2019.

A 22-year-old sailor assigned to the fast-attack submarine Columbia shot and killed two Defense Department employees and injured a third person at the same shipyard in 2019. The sailor shot and killed himself using a Navy-issued M9 pistol as law enforcement officials responded.

Three sailors assigned to the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush died by suicide in 2019 while that ship was undergoing maintenance in Virginia. The carrier's commanding officer held an all-hands meeting to get suggestions on how to combat the problem and stressed that seeking help would not harm sailors' careers.

Biden to send surplus AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Mexico, Canada

President Biden’s administration plans to send millions of doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Mexico and Canada, the White House confirmed Thursday, a development that comes as the U.S. faces a surge of migrants at the southern border with Mexico.

Press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the plans, which were first reported by Reuters and The Washington Post, but said that they were not yet finalized.

"Our first priority remains vaccinating the U.S. population, but the reality is the pandemic knows no borders,” Psaki told reporters. “Ensuring our neighbors can contain the virus is mission critical to ending the pandemic.”

Psaki said that officials are working to finalize plans to give Mexico 2.5 million doses and give Canada 1.5 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which has not yet been approved in the United States. She said that the U.S. has 7 million “releasable” doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in total and suggested the administration could share extras with other countries in the future.

"Balancing the need of letting the approval process play out of the AstraZeneca vaccine as it is taking place in the U.S. with the importance of helping stop the spread in other countries, we are assessing how we can loan doses,” she said. “That is our aim, it is not fully finalized yet but that is our aim and what we’re working toward.”

The plans coincide with an effort by the administration to get a handle on the surge of migrants at the southern border. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement early this week that the number of attempted crossings there is on pace to reach its highest level in two decades.

Asked Thursday whether the vaccine announcement had anything to do with conversations about addressing the border crisis, Psaki suggested the two issues were not related.

“There have been expectations set outside of, unrelated to any vaccine doses or requests for them that they would be partners in dealing with the crisis on the border. And there have been requests, unrelated, for doses of these vaccines. Every relationship has multiple layers of conversations that are happening at the same time,” she said.

The agreement is not expected to impact Biden’s plan to make the vaccine available to all U.S. adults by the end of May.

It comes after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau requested vaccine doses from the U.S. Mexico and Canada will be expected to pay back the U.S. with doses later this year, according to Reuters.

On the border issue, Mexico has vowed to take back more Central American families “expelled” while the U.S. has an emergency health order in place, the Post reported.

McConnell: Pelosi trying to 'overturn a state-certified election' in Iowa

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) lashed out at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday over an investigation into a razor-thin House election.

“Right now as we speak, Speaker Pelosi and Washington Democrats are literally trying to overturn a state-certified election here in Congress. That’s exactly what they’re doing over in the House right now,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

McConnell’s comments come as the House Administration Committee is digging into the election results in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District where Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) won by six votes.

“The outcome was certified. That’s the magic word, certified, that we heard over and over again in November and December. … the process played out in a way that every liberal in America spent November, December and January insisting was beyond question,” McConnell said.

Miller-Meeks’s victory was certified by Iowa in late November and she was sworn in in early January.

But the Democratic candidate, Rita Hart, is challenging the results, arguing that there are 22 ballots that were tossed that should be counted. She is using language in the Constitution that allows Congress to “judge” its own elections to try to make her case in the House.

Pelosi has defended the House action, telling ABC News that it was “very narrow” and that the panel was taking “next step” to “see where it goes from there.”

“This is not unique,” she added.

McConnell is accusing Democrats of hypocrisy after they criticized Republicans who refused to recognize President Biden’s election win for weeks and dozens subsequently tried to throw out election results from key states.

“Democratic leadership is trying to use brute political power to kick her out and replace this congresswoman with a Democrat whom she defeated. You don’t often see hypocrisy this blatant and this shameless so quickly,” he said.

None of the presidential battleground states were decided by six votes. Trump claimed that the election was “rigged” and launched unsuccessful legal challenges in several states.

Pelosi, speaking to ABC News, accused Republicans of hypocrisy.

“For them to call anybody hypocritical about elections when two-thirds of them in the House voted against accepting the presidency of Joe Biden is — well, it's just who they are,” she said.

The premier made the comments during a meeting with senior law enforcement officials in charge of tackling violent crime in the Arab community, the Haaretz daily reported.

“There is a point in a battle where you break the will of the enemy to fight, when you break their spirit,” he said in a video from the event in Tuba-Zangariyye.

“You’ll catch, incarcerate, maybe kill some of them, and the rest will disperse when they realize the battle is lost,” Netanyahu said.

“I want you to keep telling the criminal organizations: Who do you think you are? We will bring all the power of the State of Israel, and all the technology. We will fight you with a war of attrition,” Netanyahu said.

Arab leaders have accused police of years of neglect and a failure to properly enforce the law in their communities, as well as racism.

Truth Is An Endangered Species: Support It

During the 20th century Cold War with the Soviet Union, there were US Soviet experts who were concerned that the Cold War was partly contrived and, therefore, needlessly dangerous. Stephen Cohn at Princeton University, for example, believed that exaggerating the threat was as dangerous as underestimating it. On the other hand, Richard Pipes at Harvard believed that the CIA dangerously underestimated Soviet military power and failed to grasp Soviet strategic intentions.

In 1976 President Gerald Ford and CIA Director George H.W. Bush commissioned an outside panel of experts to evaluate the CIA’s National Intelligence Estimates. This group was known as Team B. Under Pipes’ leadership Team B created the perception that the US faced a dangerous “window of vulnerability.”

In conventional wisdom, in order to close this window of vulnerability President Reagan began an American arms buildup. On this point conventional wisdom is wrong. The Reagan military buildup was as much hype as reality. Its purpose was to bring the Soviets to the negotiating table and end the Cold War in order to remove the threat of nuclear war. Reagan’s supply-side policy had fixed the problem of worsening trade-offs between employment and inflation, thus making an arms buildup possible. In contrast, Reagan regarded the Soviet economy as broken and unfixable. He reasoned that a new arms race was more than the Soviets could afford, and that the threat of one would bring the Soviets to the table to negotiate the end of the Cold War.

The Soviet Union collapsed when hardline communists, convinced that Gorbachev was endangering the Soviet Union by giving up too much too quickly before American intentions were known, placed President Gorbachev under house arrest. The Yeltsin years (1991-1999) brought the dismemberment of the Soviet Empire and was a decade of Russian subservience to the United States.

Putin came to power as the American neoconservatives were girding up to establish US and Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. As General Wesley Clark told us, seven countries were to be overthrown in 5 years. The American preoccupation with the Middle East permitted Putin to throw off American overlordship and reestablish Russian sovereignty. Once Washington realized this, the American establishment turned on Putin with a vengence.

Stephen Cohen, Jack Matlock (Reagan’s ambassador to the Soviet Union), myself and a few others warned that Washington’s refusal to accept Russian independence would reignite the Cold War, thus erasing the accomplishment of ending it and resurrecting the specter of nuclear war. But Washington didn’t listen. Instead, Cohen and I were put on a list of “Russian agents/dupes,” and the process of trying to destabalize Putin began. In other words, once an American colony always an American colony, and Putin became the most demonized person on earth.

Today (March 17) we had the extraordinary spectacle of President Biden saying on ABC News that President Putin is a killer, and “he will pay a price.” This is a new low point in diplomacy. It does not serve American interests or peace.

Deagel Forecast For USA – Population Drops 70% by 2025

Deagel.com is apparently some sort of global military intelligence site. They have had an online presence since 2003. They report on high-level military equipment assets and keep track of military expenditures by country “with nearly impeccable numbers”.

One additional aspect of their site is to “forecast” financial outlooks for countries around the world. They track GDP (gross domestic product), defense budgets, and even population (forecasts) for each country.

No one knows for sure, but I’ve read that their sources are “the ‘deep state’ with the CIA, US Department of Defense, US Department of State and World Bank contributing data for their forecasts.”

According to their own website, Deagel provides news and intelligence on international military aviation and advanced technologies.

Little is known about the real owner(s). The site name is registered in France. All online information about them is “redacted for privacy”. The site hosting company is located in Old Tappan, New Jersey.

I just thought I’d first mention the mysterious aspect of Deagel. I came across their site years ago. Many of you may already know about it.

EXCLUSIVE: A New York City nursing home director tells Fox News that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s order last year requiring such facilities to take in COVID-positive patients released from hospitals was "ridiculous" and that he warned state officials "we can’t be doing this."

Michael Kraus, the administrator of the Silver Lakes Specialized Care Center in Staten Island, said he immediately raised the alarm after first hearing about the March 25, 2020, order in a conference call with other directors, hospital leaders and state officials.

‘You parade around in a mask for show’: Rand Paul tells Fauci during hearing

National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci and CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky testified Thursday with other federal officials on the COVID-19 response.

In an exchange at a hearing on the nation’s coronavirus response, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul pushed back against Fauci’s claim that masks should be required for every American, including those who are already immune from COVID-19.

“There have been no reports of significant numbers of reinfections after acquiring COVID-19 naturally,” Sen. Paul said.

Paul went on to cite numerous studies that had significant evidence of long-term immunity after COVID infection.

“So rather than being pessimistic towards people gaining immunity after they’ve had COVID, or had a vaccine, studies argue for significant optimism,” Paul told Dr. Fauci. “In fact, there have been no scientific studies arguing, or proving, that infection with COVID does not create immunity.”

“Given that no scientific studies have shown significant numbers of reinfections of patients previously infected, or previously vaccinated, what specific studies do you cite to argue that the public should be wearing masks well into 2022?” Paul asked Fauci. “If we’re not spreading the infection, isn’t it just theater? You have the vaccine and you’re wearing two masks, isn’t that theater?”

“Here we go again with the theater,” Fauci replied growing frustrated.

Fauci argued that the variants of the disease which are now circulating require every American to wear masks.

“What proof is there that there is significant reinfections with hospitalizations and deaths from the variants? None in our country. Zero,” Paul replied. “You’re making a policy based on conjecture.”

“You’ve been vaccinated and you parade around in a mask for show. You can’t get it again!” Paul exclaimed. “You’re defying everything we know about immunity by telling people to wear masks who have been vaccinated.”

Fauci responded, “Let me just state for the record masks are not theater. Masks are protective.”

Texas Lt. Gov.: Biden is Sending Migrant Children Into Sex Trafficking

TEXAS LT. GOV. DAN PATRICK: Let me tell you what, MSNBC, CNN, the Biden administration and the president himself, they are doing something I think is just as bad as what Cuomo did when he sent people with COVID in nursing homes … they are sending children into this country, having no idea where they’re going to end up. And some of these children are going to end up in sex trafficking. When they take these kids and send them to Uncle Bob in New Jersey, wherever it may be.

They don’t have the staff to watch them, to track them. They don’t know where they’re going. We have children being brought over with the drug cartels in charge, not the families. The President of the United States is sending children from Mexico and Central America into sex trafficking operations in this country. We don’t know how many, but we know what’s happening. We arrested nine thousand people on the border the first week of February. Twenty-two thousand just in Texas. The numbers are out of control. This is a design disaster. But the President of the United States should be ashamed of himself to put the children in harm’s way. And that’s what happened. This is not humane.
