Elon Musk Denies Tesla Vehicles Used for Spying in China

Elon Musk responded to concerns that Tesla cars might be used for espionage at the China Development Forum Saturday.

The world’s wealthiest man denied his company was a conduit for international espionage during remarks made at the China Development Forum Saturday. Hours before, Chinese social media spread a screenshot of what appeared to be an order banning Tesla vehicles from a military accommodation complex. An unnamed source “familiar” with the matter said officials were “very concerned” prior to Musk’s visit.

Musk’s response was blunt, pointing out the risks. “If Tesla used cars to carry out espionage activities in China or anywhere, we will get shut down,” he said. “There’s a strong incentive for us to be confidential.”

Musk used the controversial Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok as an example. “Many people were concerned over TikTok but I think this was an unnecessary concern. We should learn lessons from this,” he said.

Musk is historically popular in China, having called it “the future,” effusing about the “smart” and “hard-working” citizens of the PRC, while complaining that Americans are “entitled” and “complacent.” In January, Musk suggested China might be “more responsible” than the U.S. in regard to the safety of their people.

“It seems ironic, but even though you have sort of a single-party system, they really actually seem to care a lot about the well-being of the people,” Musk said during the Business Insider interview. “In fact, they’re maybe even more sensitive to public opinion than what I see in the U.S.”

The multi-billionaire has good reason to make nice. As the world’s largest electric vehicle consumer base, China is an important market for electric vehicles like those produced by Tesla. According to statistics from the China Passenger Car Association, 30% of the company’s global sales come from China. The CPCA reported Tesla produced 23,600 vehicles, and delivered 18,300 to China last month.

Defiant US Soldiers Openly Questioning Why BLM Riots Weren't Treated Like Capitol 'Insurrection'

Soldiers "from every echelon" of the US military have been openly questioning why last year's violent BLM and Antifa riots weren't treated like the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a comparison which has flown sideways up the ass of the military's top enlisted leader, Chief Master Sergeant Ramón "CZ" Colón-López.

In a Thursday briefing at the Pentagon, Colón-López (CZ) told reporters that some troops have asked "How come you're not looking at the situation that was going on in Seattle prior to that? [Jan. 6 riot]"

"This is coming from every echelon that we're talking to," CZ added.

According to Military.com, CZ told reporters that he is "concerned about the way that some people are looking at the current environment."

Colón-López said the confusion some younger troops have expressed shows why the training sessions on extremism are needed.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered the stand-down Feb. 5 and gave units across the military 60 days to discuss extremism in the ranks with troops.

The military's policies are clear, he said: Troops are not to advocate for, or participate in, supremacist, extremist or criminal gang doctrine, ideology or causes. -Military.com

Others are wondering why leadership's view is so disproportionate.

CZ claims that the military 'remains an apolitical organization,' and that it doesn't matter if extremist groups are far left or right, adding "both are off limits."

"If it's an organization that is actually imposing harm, threat, destruction, criminal activity and so on, then we don't condone that behavior," he said, adding "We're focusing on letting people know exactly what the oath tells us to do when it comes to obeying lawful orders, remaining apolitical and basically being good stewards of society."

But as the training sessions took place, some themes emerged that worried leaders.

Those conducting the sessions wanted "to make sure that military members understand the difference between Seattle and [the Jan. 6 riot in] Washington, D.C.," Colón-López said. "But some of our younger members are confused about this, so that's what we need to go ahead and talk to them about and educate them on, to make sure that they know exactly what they can and cannot do." -Military.com

According to CZ, 'younger troops need to be educated' on the difference between the broad (Marxist-organized) BLM and Antifa movement and extremists within said movements.

Nothing to see here - just a group waving a communist flag that wants to disband the country's law enforcement and usher in a state of lawlessness. Totally different from the January 6 'insurrection.'

TRUST THE SCIENCE: Peer Reviewed Study Suggests CDC Inflated COVID-19 Fatalities

Newly released study reveals the CDC initiated new date reporting protocols that dramatically increased reported COVID deaths

A peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of Science, Public Health Policy & Law last October reveals that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) disregarded federal laws and regulations in changing how the government counts deaths from COVID, inflating the mortality numbers as a result.

“All federal agencies are required to submit notification for data collection, publication, or analysis to the Federal Register BEFORE gaining approval from the US Office of Management and Budget’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OMB/OIRA) to ensure they are in compliance with the Information Quality Act (IQA) and the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) and therefore, approved to implement the proposed changes,” the authors of the peer-reviewed study said.

“Based upon the complete absence of Federal Register records for ‘Proposed Data Collection Submitted for Public Comment,’ at no point, did the CDC inform the OMB/OIRA or allow for 60 days of public comment in the following unilateral decisions that attempted to bypass Federal oversight,” the study charges.

“We allege that the complete absence of the appropriate Federal Register records is evidence that the CDC knowingly and willingly violated the IQA & PRA. As a direct consequence of implementing the two documents below without OMB approval, there was significant inflation of COVID-19 case and fatality data,” the authors said.

The authors of the study, ten in number, compared fatality counts compiled using the unauthorized system endorsed by the CDC in a March 24, 2020 alert, 2020, early in the national lockdown phase of the pandemic, and the authorized and established procedures used by the CDC and all state and local public health officials since 2003. The 2003 standards are outlined in two handbooks, one for physicians and a second for medical examiners and coroners.

“These handbooks have been used successfully for 17 years without need of update. They remain in use today for all causes of death except where involvement of COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed. When involvement of COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed, the March 24th, 2020 COVID19 Alert No. 2 guidelines are used instead,” the study notes.

The study concludes that based on data for all recorded deaths in the United States through August 23, 2020, the new CDC system counted 161,392 deaths attributed to the virus. Using the older system, the death total was 9,684.

The difference between the old CDC morbidity classification guidelines and the new accounting system was the latter’s inclusion of multiple co-morbidities along with the virus and the deceptive practice of listing the virus as the cause of death and the co-morbidities as “contributing conditions.”

Former DNI John Ratcliffe previews UFO report, reveals many sightings 'difficult to explain'

'There are a lot more sightings than have been made public'

Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe revealed Friday that an upcoming report will disclose that government officials have recorded more unidentified flying objects that are "difficult to explain."

Ratcliffe's remarks boost expectations for an upcoming government report about UFOs put into motion by the second pandemic-related stimulus bill.

The law, signed into law by former President Donald Trump last December, forced U.S. spy agencies and the Pentagon to disclose what they know about UFOs to the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees within 180 days.

What did Ratcliffe say?

Speaking with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Ratcliffe explained what the government report could disclose.

"There are a lot more sightings than have been made public. Some of those have been declassified," Ratcliffe said. "And when we talk about sightings, we are talking about objects that have seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery that, frankly, engage in actions that are difficult to explain. Movements that are hard to replicate that we don't have the technology for or traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom."

Ratcliffe added that government officials have attempted to find a "plausible solution" for the UFOs — but admitted "there are instances where we don't have good explanations for some of the things we've seen."

"There have been sightings all over the world," Ratcliffe explained. "When we talk about sightings, the other thing I will tell you is, it's not just a pilot or just a satellite, or some intelligence collection. Usually we have multiple sensors that are picking up these things, and some of these are unexplained phenomenon, and there is actually quite a few more than have been made public."

Russia Ready to Address UK Security Concerns at Negotiating Table, Ambassador Says

Russia prefers to deal with UK accusations and security concerns through dialogue and debate, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrei Kelin told London’s LBC radio.

Earlier this week, the UK presented its long-awaited integrated review of its foreign and security policy, which described Russia as "the most acute direct threat to the UK" and China as a potential threat to the country’s economic security. The document also unveils the UK’s plans to increase the limit of its nuclear warheads from 180 to 260.

The Russian ambassador stressed that while the UK review mentions Russia as a threat over a dozen times, "there is no single proof or explanation to any kind of formulation."

Kelin said that Russia has been accused of being a threat because of "cultural influence."

"I was amazed by all of this. Besides all the other accusations, they boiled down to the story of Skripal, which is three years old and which has no substance under it," the ambassador said, adding that "it is all false."

He reiterated what Russia has offered on numerous occasions: to discuss all issues with the UK through dialogue.

"We prefer to deal with this type of accusations by way of dialogue. We suggested several times a dialogue on cyber issues because we have a special cybercenter. Let’s sit down and talk about that but - no response. If other things are worrying Britain, let us sit down at the table and discuss what it is, what are the concerns," Kelin said.

Israel Lobby Group Calling on Supporters to Urge US Senators to Ditch Original Iran Deal

As the Biden administration has signaled a possible revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected the idea of renegotiating the deal, saying it must be preserved in the current format.

American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is calling on its supporters to urge US senators to seek a broader nuclear agreement with Iran, media reported on Saturday.

According to a text message cited by Press TV, AIPAC says that Iran “Israel's and America's greatest threat in the Middle East,” and asks its supporters to convince US lawmakers to sign the Menendez/Graham draft letter that opposes reviving the 2015 agreement in its current form.

“Please urge your senators to sign a bipartisan letter to President Biden… expressing the bipartisan consensus that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a grave threat to US national security interests and our allies and partners,” said the group.

While this call is not rejecting the idea of reviving the deal, AIPAC has also launched a campaign against the deal itself.

The Senate letter, led by Democrat Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and senior Republican Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), reportedly says that Washington must “reach an agreement that prevents Iran from ever acquiring nuclear weapons and meaningfully constrains its destabilizing activity throughout the Middle East and its ballistic missile program.” It also calls on the Biden administration to consult Israel and the Gulf states - that are not part of the current deal - before engaging in talks with Iran.

“We believe it is critical you consult with our European allies, Israel, and [the] Gulf security partners on a path forward with Iran,” the letter reportedly reads.

Nearly a decade ago, Graham actually said that the time for talks with Iran “is over.” Prior to that, he also claimed the United States must start a war against Iran if the Islamic Republic does not cease its nuclear program, and even pushed efforts in the Congress for authorizing war against the Middle Eastern nation.

"I hope the Biden Administration will understand the true nature of the Iranian regime before they engage with them a second time," Graham tweeted in January.

US Nonprofit With Ties To Wuhan Lab Violated Federal Law By Failing To Disclose Taxpayer Funding, Complaint Alleges

The nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance violated federal law by failing to disclose that its work was supported by taxpayer funds, according to a complaint filed Monday.

“Virtually all of EHA’s press releases reporting its taxpayer-funded experiments over the last three years violate the Stevens Amendment,” the White Coat Waste Project wrote in the complaint.

Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst said she will demand the Department of Health and Human Services enforce the Stevens Amendment in light of the complaint.

“This isn’t Communist China; the law isn’t optional,” Ernst said.

A U.S. nonprofit with close ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology violated federal law by failing to disclose that taxpayer funds supported its work, according to a complaint a taxpayer watchdog group filed Monday.

EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) diverted $600,000 in taxpayer funds to the WIV in the form of National Institutes of Health subgrants between 2014 and 2019 as part of a research project studying coronaviruses from Chinese bats. But press releases from EHA describing the project failed to disclose that the project was backed by federal dollars, an omission that, according to the White Coat Waste Project, is a violation of a federal law known as the Stevens Amendment.

“Virtually all of EHA’s press releases reporting its taxpayer-funded experiments over the last three years violate the Stevens Amendment,” the White Coat Waste Project wrote in its complaint filed Monday with the National Institutes of Health Office of Management Assessment. “The releases fail to acknowledge federal funding, and/or fail to report the amount of taxpayer money spent, and/or fail to report the percentage of the project paid for with taxpayer funds.”

The Stevens Amendment requires that any group that receives funding from the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education disclose the percentage of costs financed with federal funds and the federal dollar amount in any statements, press releases, bid solicitations and other documents describing a project supported by those agencies, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Nicola Sturgeon political future in balance as she awaits judgment on inquiries

James Hamilton QC to reveal results of probe into if she broke Ministerial Code

Politicians now calling for her resignation or face a motion of no confidence

Nicola Sturgeon’s political future was on a knife-edge last night as she faced three make-or-break days that could end her career.

Scotland’s First Minister is awaiting the judgment of two inquiries, which will rule on whether she broke strict parliamentary rules.

Tomorrow, James Hamilton QC is set to reveal the results of his probe into whether she broke the strict Ministerial Code – a resignation offence.

Then on Tuesday, a Holyrood committee is expected to rule that she misled parliament over the way harassment complaints about former SNP leader Alex Salmond were handled.

The Scottish Conservatives have said that if she does not resign by Tuesday, they will table a motion of no confidence on Wednesday – the same day that her former mentor Mr Salmond is said to be preparing to release a new statement.

China is the Greatest Existential Threat to the US – Biden’s Actions with Russia Were “Childish” – Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

President Trump’s Secretary of State had much to say about Biden’s ‘childish’ actions with China this past week.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo shared some thoughts this past week about China:

Allowing China to host the 2022 Winter Olympics would give the communist nation a boost in credibility similar to the 1936 Summer Games in Nazi Germany, according to former Secretary of States Mike Pompeo this week.

“We know the history and those of us who have worked with our friends in Israel and have worked on anti-Semitism have talked about never allowing what happened in the 1930s to happen again …” Pompeo told Fox News’ “America Reports” on Thursday.

“Well, what’s happening in the 1930s is happening in western China today. There are eerie, eerie similarities between the two, and hosting the Olympic Games — as the Germans were able to do in 1936 — gave great credibility to that regime,” Pompeo continued. “We ought not to permit that to happen. The International Olympic Committee has a responsibility to make sure that host for these games deserve it. This regime certainly does not.”

Pompeo added that he thought the Biden’s actions with Russia were “childish” and he shared that: “China presents “the greatest existential threat” to the United States”.

FDA grants emergency authorization to ‘machine learning-based’ COVID detection device

Machine will use signs from blood flow to estimate potential COVID infection.

The Food and Drug Administration this week gave emergency-use authorization to a "machine learning-based" device that will reportedly work to detect COVID even in cases in which no immediate symptoms are evident.

The device, manufactured by Tiger Tech Solutions, "identifies certain biomarkers that may be indicative of SARS-CoV-2 infection … in asymptomatic individuals over the age of 5," the FDA said in a press release.

The device works by reading signals of a patient’s blood flow using an armband. "The sensors first obtain pulsatile signals from blood flow over a period of three to five minutes," the FDA said.

"Once the measurement is completed," the statement continued. “The processor extracts some key features of the pulsatile signals, such as pulse rate, and feeds them into a probabilistic machine learning model that has been trained to make predictions on whether the individual is showing certain signals, such as hypercoagulation in blood."

Hypercoagulation "is known to be a common abnormality in COVID-19 patients," the FDA also says.

The device will also reportedly be able to detect "other hypercoagulable conditions (such as sepsis or cancer) or hyper-inflammatory states (such as severe allergic reactions)," the agency noted.

Feds spent more than $1 billion on bioweapons detection system that mostly doesn't work

The BioWatch program was devised following the 2001 anthrax attacks, but after 18 years and more than $1 billion it can't detect most known threats and its alarms are often disregarded by localities because of false alerts.

The Golden Horseshoe is a weekly designation from Just the News intended to highlight egregious examples of wasteful taxpayer spending by the government. The award is named for the horseshoe-shaped toilet seats for military airplanes that cost the Pentagon a whopping $640 each back in the 1980s.

This week, our award goes to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for spending more than $1 billion over two decades on a bioweapons detection system that does not work.

The BioWatch system was introduced in 2003 by President George W. Bush in response to the anthrax attacks that killed and seriously sickened a number of Americans in the days following 9/11. BioWatch was supposed to be a system that surveils aerosolized biological agents. The system is comprised of hundreds of machines that collect air from public places around the country’s most populous cities and send samples to a lab that tests for harmful pathogens.
