I live in US red state..mandate lifts to zero masks in a few days. I have a great deal more freedom than you describe in your life. No matter, I still wake up (very little sleep is the norm now) in sadness & worry wondering if this will ever go away completely. I think governments see how easy it is to control the masses & will never back away from the over-reach of power. Unhappiness, breaking our backs & spirits is their goal I think. Easier to control us after being beaten down. I never want to hear the spin phrase of "Stay safe" ever again.
