New York Times deletes tweet after claiming 'role of declaring the winner' falls on the media

'The Times seems to think it runs the country, rather than report on the country,' William A. Jacobson said

The New York Times was forced to correct a tweet on Tuesday after the paper initially claimed that “the role of declaring the winner” in the presidential election "falls to the news media."

“The role of declaring the winner of a presidential election in the U.S. falls to the news media. The broadcast networks and cable news outlets have vowed to be prudent. He’s how it will work,” The Times’ verified account tweeted to accompany a link to an article about how the media will report election results.

Professor Says Conservatism May Be ‘Euphemism for White Supremacy’ During ‘Religion of White Rage’ Panel

Louisiana State University recently held a panel discussing the “Religion of White Rage,” during which a guest Syracuse University professor stated that conservatism is a “euphemism for white supremacy.”

The comment was made by Biko Gray, a religion professor at Syracuse University.

Campus Reform reports that during the live panel, Gray stated that “maybe conservatism away from being a financial and economic and political policy is just a euphemism for white supremacy and its affective variant; white rage.

The three militant leftist speakers on the panel wrote a book titled The Religion of White Rage: Religious Fervor, White Workers and the Myth of Black Racial Progress. Their thesis is that “it is not economics but religion and race that stand as the primary motivating factors for the rise of white rage and white supremacist sentiment in the United States.”

Iran Threatens Attacks on DC Army Base and Generals

Iran has upped the ante in its hostile relationship with the United States as an intercepted communication revealed that the Islamic Republic made threats against Fort McNair and the Army’s vice chief of staff.

As first reported by the Associated Press, the National Security Agency (NSA) intercepted messages in January from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In the messages, IRGC members discuss attacking Ft. McNair, an Army base located on the Potomac River just about a 10-minute drive from the White House.

The Iranians discussed using a boat loaded with explosives, killing the Army’s Vice Chief of Staff General Joseph Martin while infiltrating and surveilling the base. The method harkens back to al-Qaeda’s attack on the USS Cole.

Biden plans $3 trillion climate boondoggle

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House said on Monday that a New York Times report that President Joe Biden will consider spending $3 trillion for infrastructure and other priorities was premature and did not reflect administration thinking. The Times reported that Biden advisers were preparing to recommend he spend as much as $3 trillion on boosting the economy, reducing carbon emissions and narrowing economic inequality, beginning with a giant infrastructure plan.

California homebuyers discover that the government is their enemy

A nightmare facing a couple who purchased a home for cash perfectly illustrates why having the government over-involved in the rental market is a disaster even for people who never meant to lease their property but are plagued by a squatter. A couple who bought a house in good faith now find themselves mired in California's labyrinthine tenants' laws, exacerbated by the new COVID rules.

Riverside is a large suburban area located about 50 miles east of downtown Los Angeles — although it's still considered part of the Greater Los Angeles area. Tracie and Myles Albert, a young couple in Riverside, found what they thought was the perfect home: a four-bedroom that they could buy quickly, for cash.

On January 31, 2020, the Alberts scraped together $560,000 in cash and gained title to the property. They have yet to move in.

Despite having pocketed $560,000 and given up title, the original owner refuses to leave. Even under normal circumstances, this would be a problem for the new homeowners because California landlord-tenant laws are so hostile to the landlord. While the former owner isn't technically a tenant — because there is no lease and no landlord-tenant relationship, and he owes no rent — it's notoriously difficult to oust even squatters from properties in California.

Army announces gender-specific fitness test score percentiles after women’s high fail rates on gender-neutral test

The U.S. Army announced Monday that it will use keep the events on the third version of the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT 3.0) gender-neutral, but male and female soldiers will be evaluated on separate gender-specific percentile tiers, amid concerns female soldiers are scoring lower and disproportionately failing the test compared to their male counterparts.

Gen. Lonnie Hibbard, the Commanding General for the U.S. Army Center for Initial Military Training, told reporters the ACFT 3.0 “establishes an evaluation system with gender-informed performance categories that may be used now to tier the soldier’s points or score according to their gender.

She's got a smile that it seems to me

Reminds me of childhood memories

Where everything

Was as fresh as the bright blue sky

Now and then when I see her face

It takes me away to that special place

And if I stared too long

I'd probably break down and cry
