20-year-old man met teen on Instagram, lived under her bed for 3 weeks and raped her, police say

Police allege that he also took nude photos of the girl

Police say a 20-year-old man lived under a teenage girl's bed for three weeks after meeting her on Instagram, and in that time he raped her and took nude photos of her.

The shocking incident unfolded in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Police allege that Jaret Wright of Barberton met the unidentified victim on Instagram and began living under her bed in February, unbeknownst to her parents. It was unclear if the two were in a relationship or if she invited him to live under her bed.

The girl was reported to be aged between 13 and 18 years old according to the Associated Press.

Police said that Wright raped the girl and took nude photos of her.

Eventually the teen's mother discovered Wright and called the police to arrest him. He was charged with three counts of sexual assault and a single count of producing child pornography.

Wright is being detained on a $50,000 bond.

Psychologist Dr. Ed Connor told WXIX-TV that predators are using social media in order to gain the confidence of their victims and take advantage of them.

"Perpetrators, especially when they're older than the victim, are quite good at grooming and convincing the victim that they're simply a friend and out for their best interests," Connor said.

He recommended that parents be proactive about monitoring what their children are doing on social media and on computers.

"Parents have to be intrusive," Connor continued. "They have to be more involved with what their child is doing on social media or the internet."

In another social media child abduction case in February, police rescued a 14-year-old from his 38-year-old abductor in Arkansas when they were spotted at a McDonald's. The man shot at police and tried to escape, but turned the gun on himself after crashing in the ensuing chase. Law enforcement officials said he had been contacting almost a dozen other children through the internet.

Blumenthal: Republicans Are ‘Complicit in All These Shootings’

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said Tuesday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Republican lawmakers were “complicit” in all the mass shootings that take place in the United States, given their opposition to gun legislation.

Blumenthal said, “In Boulder, that shooter is a deeply disturbed man who became a mass killer because he had an assault weapon that can kill people with the efficiency and speed meant for the battlefield. So guns make all these problems more fatally and deadly, especially for domestic violence victims who then can be killed, five times more likely to be killed in those situations. That’s why we need to make sure we adopt these common-sense measures.”

He added, “We should not be putting aside Republicans. They bear responsibilities as well. That was the whole point of my exchange this morning with Senator Cruz because they’re the ones who are ducking that responsibility and become complicit in all these shootings. It is not just Boulder, and it is 100 killings a day and not to mention the emotional traumas and injuries that result, the eight children that are lost every day of guns that are stored unsafely. I think my Republican colleagues are going to be put on record. We’ll have a vote. We have a president who’s committed to this cause, both House of Congress and most importantly we have a popular political movement, a grassroots movement led by a new generation like the Parkland students and March for Our Lives.”

‘Bat Lady’ Denial Of Chinese Military Involvement In Wuhan Lab Has Put China On Crash Course With US Intelligence

Chinese Dr. Shi Zhengli said Tuesday that the U.S. government is wrong to say the Wuhan Institute of Virology has engaged in secret projects with the Chinese military.

The State Department issued a fact sheet on Jan. 15 stating that the WIV has engaged in research on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017.

World Health Organization advisory committee member Jamie Metzl told the Daily Caller News Foundation that if the State Department can prove that the WIV is working with the Chinese military, the lab leak hypothesis would “become to be seen as the most credible hypothesis.”

“If the Chinese military was doing secret animal pathogen research at or with the WIV and Chinese government/WIV officials were lying about this to the WHO, media, and world, the case for an accidental lab leak followed by a cover up would grow significantly stronger,” Metzl said.

The Chinese scientist responsible for overseeing research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology said Tuesday that the U.S. government is incorrect in stating that her lab engages in secret projects with the Chinese military.

Dr. Shi Zhengli, known as the “bat lady” in China for her work on bat-based coronaviruses, gave the comments in response to a question from World Health Organization advisory committee member Jamie Metzl during a seminar Tuesday hosted by Rutgers University.

Metzl told the Daily Caller News Foundation following the seminar that Shi’s credibility would be destroyed if the U.S. government can prove that the WIV was indeed collaborating with the Chinese military. Metzl added that since the Chinese government’s assertion that COVID-19 did not leak from the WIV rests almost entirely on Shi’s credibility, the lab leak hypothesis would “become to seen as the most credible hypothesis,” if the U.S. government produces receipts.

“Did you have knowledge of all of the research that was being done by everyone at the WIV and the full repository of viruses that were being held there by everybody, all the laboratories?” Metzl asked Shi during the seminar, according to audio obtained by the DCNF. “To your knowledge, are the U.S. government claims of classified Chinese military research being carried out at the WIV correct, and if so, did you have full awareness of and access to all aspects of this research?”

Shi said in response: “From my knowledge, all our research work is open, is transparent. At the beginning of COVID-19, we heard the rumors that claimed our laboratory would have some project blah blah with army blah blah … but this is not correct, because I am the director and responsible for research activity. I don’t know any kind of research work performed in this lab.”

IAF strikes targets in Gaza after rocket lands near Beersheba - Watch

Earlier this week, attempted infiltrations and incendiary kites and balloons were reported along the Gaza border.

The IDF struck targets belonging to terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night in response to a rocket that was fired from the Strip towards Israel earlier in the evening and fell in an open area near Beersheba, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

The strikes targeted sites near Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip and near Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian reports. According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the strikes targeted a site for manufacturing rockets and a military position.

"The Hamas terrorist organization bears responsibility for what happens inside and outside of the Gaza Strip, and will bear the consequences of terrorist acts against Israeli citizens," said the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was delivering a speech as the IDF struck Gaza and was in Beersheba when the rocket was fired towards the southern city, with video shared on social media showing him being removed by a restaurant in the city by security guards after the rocket fire.

Rocket fire has targeted Netanyahu's campaign events in the past, with two separate events in Ashkelon being disrupted by rocket fire from Gaza in recent years.

After the rocket fire, Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz stopped his campaign efforts and conducted security consultations.

"Bibi [a nickname for Netanyahu] is weak in front of Hamas," said former defense minister Naftali Bennett. "I wish Netanyahu had fought Hamas like he fought me. Hamas is laughing at Netanyahu's weakness. They shot a Grad rocket near Beersheba while Bibi was visiting there.

"Bibi is submissive to Hamas," he said. "Bibi is submissive to the Bedouin gangs in the Negev. Bibi is submissive to the justice system. A strong right is only Yamina with the letter Bet [the letter on Yamina's ballot slip]."

In response to the rocket fire, New Hope leader Gideon Sa'ar pointed to promises by Netanyahu in 2009 to overthrow Hamas. "Now he has given Hamas vaccines even without demanding for a sign of life from our illegally held civilians in Gaza and without receiving the bodies of our martyrs who fell in Operation Protective Edge. Is it a wonder that they make fun of him and us?"

On Sunday, two Palestinians were arrested by the IDF after they crossed the border from the south of the Gaza Strip into Israel armed with knives, the military reported.

Netanyahu urges rivals to join him in coalition, warning 5th elections otherwise

After yet another apparent election deadlock, PM stops short of declaring victory, pleads with opponents to partner with him — a year after he persuaded Gantz to do so

Recognizing that he may fall short of the votes he needs to build a viable coalition after a fourth indecisive election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refrained from declaring victory in a speech in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and instead pleaded with members of rival parties to put aside personal differences and partner with him to avoid yet a fifth rapid-fire election.

“A clear majority” of the newly elected 120 Knesset members share his overall policies, he said, and he thus intended to spend the next few days “talking with all MKs” who might be willing to help build a stable government. The only alternative to a coalition under his leadership, he said, would be another national vote.

As ballots were being counted through the night, updated exit polls suggested neither Netanyahu nor any of his rivals had a clear path to a Knesset majority. After a similar deadlock in elections a year ago, however, Netanyahu persuaded his main challenger at the time, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, to join him in an “emergency unity government.” His speech this time appeared to mark the opening move in a similar effort to persuade political rivals to ally with him.

Netanyahu’s coalition deal with Gantz collapsed last December, however, when the prime minister failed to pass a state budget and the Knesset automatically dissolved for these elections. Gantz has vowed never again to partner with Netanyahu. The prime minister may be hoping, however, that he can woo defectors from Gantz’s and/or other parties that have vowed not to sit in government with him, including the New Hope party led by former Likud minister Gideon Sa’ar.

Bernie Sanders Says He Does Not Feel 'Particularly Comfortable' About Trump's Twitter Ban

The former US president, Donald Trump, saw his Twitter account banned after being accused of inciting the deadly 6 January Capitol building attack. Despite denying the accusations, his 88 million-follower account has been permanently suspended from the platform.

Senator Bernie Sanders, who has never felt warmly toward Trump, appeared to move closer to his side in the issue of Trump's Twitter ban, when speaking to New York Times columnist Ezra Klein on Tuesday.

Despite criticizing the former president, Sanders nevertheless said that he did not feel "particularly comfortable" the idea of deplatforming Trump.

"Look, you have a racist, sexist, xenophobe, pathological liar, an authoritarian […] a bad news guy," Sanders noted, adding, "But if you're asking me do I feel particularly comfortable that the then-president of the United States could not express his views on Twitter? I don't feel comfortable about that."

While maintaining that social media should not serve as a platform for "authoritarian purposes and insurrection", Sanders pondered the idea of possible censorship and giving "that much power to a handful of high-tech people.

"Do you want hate speech and conspiracy theories traveling all over this country? No. Do you want the internet to be used for authoritarian purposes and an insurrection, if you like? No, you don’t. So how do you balance that? I don’t know, but it is an issue that we have got to be thinking about. Because yesterday it was Donald Trump who was banned, and tomorrow, it could be somebody else who has a very different point of view", the senator said.

Earlier in the week, a Trump communication strategist, Jason Miller, confirmed to Fox News that the former president plans to return to social media with his own platform in a couple of months.

Trump was banned from Twitter after being accused of inciting the deadly 6 January Capitol insurrection, allegations he denied.

The move to permanently suspend Trump's Twitter account caused heated debate, with platform CEO Jack Dorsey arguing that Twitter was forced to do so, and Trump allies slamming the decision as a restriction of free speech.
