May 1948, David Ben-Gurion wrote: "At 4PM, Jewish independence was declared and the state was established and its fate is in the hands of the security forces."

In these words, the first prime minister of the State of Israel entrusted the Israel Defense Forces with the security of State of Israel.

The actions attributed to those sitting here tell the IDF’s story. An army of the people, which leaves its footprints throughout this land, guarantees its existence to this day

The IDF bows its head in loss &looks up proudly at its achievements.It ’s a moral army that carries with it the memory of its past &is committed to a future of security &quiet

It’s an army that in every generation knew a complex reality and did not stop or rest on its sword.

All of us have the responsibility - soldiers and commanders - to prepare for the challenges in our borders and beyond.

The proliferation and complexity of the various arenas, the strengthening of our enemies & Iran’s attempts to assert itself close to our borders -

all of these require us to take initiative, to be determined & to strengthen our readiness for any scenario.

The IDF will continue to act responsibly, with discretion and with our commitment to ensuring the security of the State of Israel.

There are many challenges ahead - but I know that we will be able to respond to them mainly thanks to our people, spirit, technology, and creativity.

Thanks to you and to your leaders - the IDF's strength will be on our side.

My friends of all generations, commanders and fighters, I thank you for your commitment and am convinced that we will face every challenge.
