The title of the article, while true conjures up a false image of a nation wide mandate for police to start heading into homes and confiscated guns. That's not how these things work nor the Biden's admins goal. What they are trying to do is establish precedent for warrantless gun confiscations in order to make it a regular thing for future generations. It's a long game of boiling the frog. In 1928 in Olmstead v. United States, SCOTUS ruled that the wiretaps attached by law enforcement to the phone lines of prohibition conspirators, including Roy Olmstead, were constitutional because there had been no physical trespass.
Chief Justice William Howard Taft asserted that a person who connects a phone to lines that extend outside of a home with the intent to project his or her voice outside has no expectation of privacy with regard to the ensuing conversations. However, he argued for judicial restraint when he suggested that Congress could make wiretaps inadmissible by passing legislation prohibiting or regulating their use.
Now almost a hundred years later everyone accepts their 4th amendement rights being trampled over. Whether that's Google selling you out to the Feds or the NSA intercepting your communications, it's regarded as, "oh well that's just the way it is "
This is what is happening now with this warrantless gun confiscation. Get SCOTUS to go along with it now, use the granted the powers permitted by SCOTUS here and there for a generation, then down the road gun confiscation will just be, "oh well that's just the way it is "
