MANCHIN CHAIRS FIRST CYBERSECURITY SUBCOMMITTEE HEARING OF 117TH CONGRESS
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services’ Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, led the first subcommittee hearing of the 117th Congress. The Subcommittee on Cybersecurity oversees policies and programs related to cyber forces, operations, and capabilities.
“America faces threats both seen and unseen at home and abroad, and our military must be prepared to combat any cybersecurity threat against our great nation,” said Senator Manchin. “As Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Cybersecurity Subcommittee and the senior Senator representing one of the most patriotic states in the nation, supporting our brave servicemembers is always a top priority for me. As Cybersecurity Subcommittee Chairman, I will work closely with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure America’s military is informed and ready to confront any cybersecurity risk to keep Americans safe.”
In February, Senator Manchin was named Chairman of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee after previously serving as the Ranking Member of the subcommittee. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Manchin has been outspoken on the need to keep America’s military strong and capable of confronting cybersecurity threats.
