MLBPA Open to Pulling All-Star Game from GA Due to Election Reform Bill

Tony Clark, the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) executive director, says that he wants the league to discuss pulling the All-Star Game from Georgia now that the state’s election integrity bill has become law.

The 91st MLB All-Star is scheduled for July 13 at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Though, with the new election law enacted, Clark thinks it is time to discuss possibly punishing the Peach State.

“Players are very much aware” of the Georgia voting bill, Clark told the Boston Globe. “As it relates to the All-Star Game, we have not had a conversation with the league on that issue – if there is an opportunity to, we would look forward to having that conversation.”

The new law was praised by Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson, who said, “Reforms to make voter ID requirements and early voting access more consistent statewide, modernize the state’s voting rolls, and ensure robust oversight of voting and elections will protect Georgia’s votes and make the state a model for the rest of the country.”

However, liberals have attacked the state’s new law aimed at tightening the overly loose rules governing state elections that sent the state into chaos during the 2020 elections. The left is riling supporters by mischaracterizing the law as “voter suppression” and even calling it “white supremacy.”

If Major League Baseball removes the All-Star Game from Georgia, it would not be the first time that a professional sports league punished a state for its politics. In 2017 the NBA pulled its All-Star Game from the state of North Carolina when that state passed a law preventing biological men from using female restrooms. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver demanded that the state reverse the law — which it did not do — and then moved the game to New Orleans when the state refused to comply.

US Appeals Court Rules Bump Stocks Are Not "Machine Guns"

The federal ban on bump stocks, put in place by the Trump administration, was ruled unlawful by a divided federal appeals court on Thursday, according to Bloomberg. This is a significant win for gun owners who have observed overreaching government clamp down on guns in recent years.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) first issued the ban on plastic bump stocks that transform semiautomatic firearms into rapid-fire weapons. In December 2018, the ATF classified bump stocks as "machine guns." The move came after former President Trump ordered his Attorney General to initiate the ban following the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.

No Surge In COVID Two Weeks After Mask Mandate Lifted In Texas

After two weeks of lifting its mask mandate and allowing businesses to open at full capacity, Texas is not seeing a surge of new COVID-19 cases.

Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, issued an executive order (pdf) that went into effect on March 10 to loosen COVID-19 restrictions. Although the government’s statewide mask mandate was lifted, individual businesses were still able to “limit capacity” or impose mask mandates at their own choosing.

But in Austin and Travis County, residents 10 years or older still have to wear a mask outside their home after a district judge refused to grant Attorney General Ken Paxton a restraining order that would have ended a mask mandate enforced by Travis County and Austin city officials. The trial is set to take place on March 26.

Texas had been witnessing a downward trend in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations prior to Abbott’s announcement ending the restrictions.

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) posted on Twitter yesterday that Texas saw a seven-day average decrease in the daily number of new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.

At the time the executive order was issued, March 2, new COVID-19 cases in the state stood at 7,240 cases, with a seven-day average of 7,259 cases. That number dropped to 5,350 cases by March 10 when the executive order came into effect and the economy fully opened.

Two weeks later on March 24, the number of daily new cases stands at 3,827, with a seven-day average of 3,401 cases.

Hollywood Celebrities Melt Down over Georgia’s Election Integrity Law: Racist, ‘Straight Up’ Evil

Hollywood celebrities are expressing their rage over Georgia’s sweeping new voter integrity law, which implements voter identification requirements and limits ballot drop boxes. Left-wing stars — the vast majority of whom don’t live in Georgia — are condemning the law as racist, “straight up” evil, and a form of “voter suppression.”

On Thursday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed into law Senate Bill 202, which passed along party lines by the state’s General Assembly. The legislation gives the Georgia State Elections Board the ability to take over county election boards in areas that may require oversight.

It also removes Georgia’s Secretary of State from chair of the State Elections Board.

Stars including Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, Rosanna Arquette, Padma Lakshmi, and Billy Eichner are voicing their anger over the bill’s passage.

Edward Norton called Georgia Republican leaders “racists” for signing the bill into law. The People vs. Larry Flynt actor also retweeted the Lincoln Project, the anti-Trump Republican group mired in a sexual misconduct scandal involving young men.

Nation’s first ‘vaccine passport’ coming to New York

The nation’s very first “vaccine passport” is coming to the Big Apple.

The program, dubbed the “Excelsior Pass,” is an app that will allow New Yorkers to prove their vaccination status, or recent history of a negative COVID-19 test, in order to gain entry to events and businesses, Governor Cuomo announced in a news release Friday.

“Similar to a mobile airline boarding pass, individuals will be able to either print out their pass or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app,” the news release explains.

“Each Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues can scan using a companion app to verify proof of COVID-19 negative test results or proof of vaccination. An individual’s data is kept secure and confidential at all times.”
