Dominion Voting sues Fox News for $1.6bn over election fraud claims

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6bn (£1.2bn) defamation lawsuit against Fox News, arguing it promoted baseless claims of vote-rigging.
Conservatives and Trump campaigners had claimed last year that the US company had altered its voting machines to deny re-election to Donald Trump.
The false claim of a stolen election was promoted by Mr Trump and helped fuel the 6 January attack on Congress.
Fox News said it would fight the "baseless lawsuit in court".
The lawsuit argues that Fox News, which hosted guests touting anti-Dominion conspiracy theories during the 2020 election, "recklessly disregarded the truth" because "the lies were good for Fox's business".

“CBO projects that the Navy will experience maintenance delays throughout the next 30 years because the demand for labor will exceed the shipyards’ supply of it in 25 of the next 30 years,” the report reads. “CBO projects a 4.6 percent annual shortage in labor, on average—that is, the Navy will need 295,000 more days of labor than the shipyards can supply. That amount is roughly equivalent to falling behind each year by the number of days of labor required to complete an [extended docking selected restricted availability] for a Virginia class submarine.”
“Even if one or more of the options are pursued, CBO projects that maintenance delays will continue, through the 2020s for Options 2 and 3 because it takes several years to hire and train workers at shipyards, and through the 2020s or 2030s for Option 4, depending on whether the Navy reduces fleet size sooner by retiring old submarines or later by building fewer new submarines,” according to the report. “In the meantime, delays will continue, pushing a wave of unfinished work into the future.”

The Biden administration is prioritizing the Gateway Rail Tunnel Project between New York City and New Jersey.
A new railroad tunnel would allow for twice as many Amtrak and New Jersey Transit commuter trains to run under the Hudson River.
It would also allow the crumbling existing tubes to be closed to repair the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.
“We’re here at the Weehawken shaft where we’ve had a real problem, quite frankly, with water infiltration, one of the most problematic areas here, and that’s what we’re working to remediate,” Amtrak spokesman Craig Schulz said.
Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg says the department hopes to complete the Gateway Project’s long-delayed environmental impact statement by the end of June.
