I have some experience with boats. Canal boats and locks mainly. What we did to release boats that had beached in the silt beds was to create a temporary blockage/damn upstream, then when the damn was removed the sudden surge of water would lift and release the beached boat from the silt.

I get itโ€™s not on the same scale but the theory is sound. They will be there for a month of sundays with tug boats trying to pull that free but a temporary damn could be done in days if the right people got involved and took charge of the situation. The Suez Canal is really not that wide.

Well it always worked on the canal boats and the hull on them is only 1/4 inch steel sheeting.

You may be right anon with your observation but one thing I know for certain is the tugs will never pull it free. Not in a million years.
