Giant container ship stuck in Suez Canal FREED after blocking vital waterway for nearly a week

The skyscraper-sized container ship has been refloated nearly a week after it lodged sideways in the Suez Canal, bringing all traffic to a screeching halt, maritime services provider Inchcape reported.

The long-awaited liberation of the ship sparked raucous celebrations at the port. The vessels trapped by the giant 'beached" vessel for almost a week were blowing their horns as they rejoiced at the news.

Earlier on Monday, the Suez Port Authority reported that 10 tug boats would pull and push the Panama-flagged ship from four different directions at dawn, hoping to get advantage of high tide.

Australian politicians propose drug testing and breathalyzers to make parliament ā€˜best possible workplaceā€™

A proposal by two Australian politicians to conduct drug and alcohol testing in parliament has caused controversy on social media as critics fling accusations of ā€˜whatabouteryā€™, while supporters say itā€™s about time!

Speaking on the need to ensure safe work environments for women, Liberal party MPs Katie Allen and Sarah Henderson on Sunday floated the idea of instituting limits on alcohol in parliamentary workspaces and mandating regular drug testing and breathalyzers while working.

ā€œMPs and senators are not that special. We are here to serve the community, and Iā€™ve heard a few rumours about drugs,ā€ Henderson said, appearing on ABCā€™s Insiders program on Sunday.

Clarifying that she had not heard allegations against anyone in particular, the senator from Victoria added that parliament needs to be ā€œthe best possible workplace.ā€

Meanwhile, Allen, a first-time MP from Victoria, proposed an outright ban on alcohol at Parliament House, after having witnessed an ā€œunderlying lack of professionalismā€ in the building.

Meanwhile, Liberal party deputy leader Josh Frydenberg said he expected the issue of alcohol would be covered in a review of parliamentary culture being conducted by Australiaā€™s sex discrimination commissioner.

ā€œParliament is an unusual working place. Itā€™s had long hours, itā€™s particularly intense and we have very important work to undertake,ā€ Frydenberg said.

ā€œBut the behaviour and the conduct and the culture that we have seen exhibited by revelations of what has taken place in the Parliamentā€¦ falls well below community standards and it has to change and it has to change fast,ā€ he added.

The leader of the opposition, Anthony Albanese, said his Labor party was open to any constructive proposals to improve the functioning of Parliament.

Exchange Server attacks: Microsoft shares intelligence on post-compromise activities

If you're cleaning up a infected Exchange server, you need to look for traces of multiple threats, warns Microsoft.

Many on-premises Exchange servers are being patched, but Microsoft warns that its investigations have found multiple threats lurking on already-compromised systems.

Microsoft is raising an alarm over potential follow-on attacks targeting already compromised Exchange servers, especially if the attackers used web shell scripts to gain persistence on the server, or where the attacker stole credentials during earlier attacks.

Microsoft released patches for Exchange on-premises systems on March 2. Four Exchange bugs were already under attack from a state-sponsored hacking group called Hafnium.

Microsoft earlier this week said that 92% of vulnerable Exchange servers had been patched or had mitigations applied. However, cybersecurity firm F-Secure said "tens of thousands" of Exchange servers had already been breached.

In a new blog post, Microsoft reiterated its warning that "patching a system does not necessarily remove the access of the attacker".

"Many of the compromised systems have not yet received a secondary action, such as human-operated ransomware attacks or data exfiltration, indicating attackers could be establishing and keeping their access for potential later actions," the Microsoft 365 Defender Threat Intelligence Team notes.

Where systems have been compromised, Microsoft urges admins to practice the principle of least privilege and mitigate lateral movement on a network.

Least privilege will help address the common practice where an Exchange service or scheduled task has been configured with a highly privileged account to perform tasks like backups.

"As service account credentials are not frequently changed, this could provide a great advantage to an attacker even if they lose their initial web shell access due to an antivirus detection, as the account can be used to elevate privileges later," Microsoft notes.

Using DoejoCrypt ransomware, aka DearCry, as an example, Microsoft notes that the web shells used by that strain write a batch file to C:\Windows\Temp\xx.bat. This was found on all systems hit by DoejoCrypt and may offer the attacker a route to regaining access where infections have been detected and removed.

"This batch file performs a backup of the Security Account Manager (SAM) database and the System and Security registry hives, allowing the attackers later access to passwords of local users on the system and, more critically, in the LSA [Local Security Authority] Secrets portion of the registry, where passwords for services and scheduled tasks are stored," Microsoft notes.

Deja Vu? 'Evergreen' Truсk Paralyses Car Traffic in China

The notorious 400-meter container ship Ever Given ran aground last Tuesday and completely blocked traffic in the Suez Canal. The absurd situation, which amused netizens throughout the world, dealt a major blow to world trade as almost a third of all container traffic in the world is carried out through the canal.

Photos posted on Saturday on China's Weibo social media platform depict a crashed truck on the Changchun-Shenzhen highway that has paralysed car traffic, stopped perpendicular to the roadway.

Similarly, on 23 March, a huge transport vessel owned by the Japanese company Shoei Kisen KK and leased from the Taiwanese transport company Evergreen Marine got stuck in the Suez Canal. Emergency services managed to re-float the ship on 29 March, but it's unknown yet when canal traffic will resume.

Despite the fact that the container on the Chinese truck is labelled Evergreen, the same company responsible for the stranded ship in Egypt, itā€™s not related to the Suez Canalā€™s blocking. However, netizens worldwide quickly noticed the coincidence, poking fun at the situation and posting memes.

Some Twitter users drew attention to Ever Givenā€™s damaged reputation. "I hope this company does not own planes?" a user commented.

Satanic Rapper Lil Nas Threatens to Rape ā€˜Gun Girlā€™ Kaitlin Bennettā€™s Father During Twitter Spat

Satanic rapper Lil Nas threatened to rape Kaitlin Bennettā€™s father during a spat on Twitter.

The exchange began when Bennett tweeted that she was happy to be blocked by the rapper, who made headlines this week for Satanic sneakers containing human blood and a music video in which he gives Satan a lap dance.

Things escalated quickly from there, as Lil Nas tweeted ā€œi still see ur tweets shitty pants,ā€ referring to a cruel internet meme in which ā€œfeministsā€ on the left have spread a photo of a half naked girl that had anā€¦ accidentā€¦ and claimed that it is Bennett. Yes, you read that correctly, the same group that claims to defend and believe women has used revenge porn of some unknown girl passed out at a party to shame Bennett for her politics.

Not one to back down from a fight, Bennett fired back saying ā€œthe guy that takes it up the ass from Satan wants to talk about ā€˜shitty pants?'ā€

Bennett followed up by asking the rapper if he still sees his dad.

ā€œLil Nas just threatened to rape my dad. Sounds about what Iā€™d expect,ā€ Bennett tweeted with a screenshot.

Just a couple of months before going full on Satanic ā€” and now threatening to rape peopleā€™s fathers, Lil Nas was celebrating the fact that his fan base is mostly children during an interview with NPR.

Lil Nas recently wrote a childrenā€™s book he wrote called ā€œC is For Country,ā€ apparently based off his hit song ā€œOld Town Road.ā€

That wasnā€™t the musicianā€™s only attempt at making sure he had a young fan base.

In January, NPR reported in an article titled ā€œLil Nas X Says Children Are His Core Audience Right Now, And Thatā€™s OK,ā€ ā€œReaching kids on their level has been a big part of the public persona of Lil Nas X in the past year. Last spring he did an appearance on The Not-Too-Late Show, singing the theme along with its host, Elmo. Leading into the holidays, he did a virtual performance on the online video game platform Roblox, reminiscent of the Travis Scott Fortnite concert in April. But Roblox has a huge younger audience ā€” the company says over half its users are under 13 ā€” and the Lil Nas X concert alone drew in over 30 million visits.ā€

Kamala Harris MIA during border crisis: Where is she?

The vice president is reportedly frustrated with ongoing mansion renovations

The Biden administration is putting out a call for government volunteers to report for duty amid the significant surge at the border, but many are asking ā€“ where is the person deputized to 'fix' the line in the sand crisis?

As the immigration mess at the southern border gets more and more out of hand, Vice President Kamala Harris still remains inexplicably silent.

Even after President Biden officially tapped the VP Wednesday to lead in response to border challenges, there arenā€™t any plans for her to travel south or even address the issue. According to the Office of the Vice President, Harris had no events this past weekend and no mention of border-related activity.

This comes as the Biden administration is now asking for government volunteers to help manage the migrant surge. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has sent memos to agency heads seeking "volunteer deployments" for up to 120 days, Fox News confirmed.

"We are actively working to screen, process and deploy these volunteers while continuing our recruitment efforts and exploration of other avenues to bolster staff resources at the border," an OPM spokesperson said.

Meantime, while government officials are preparing to volunteer their time to help keep our borders safe, according to CNN, Harris is currently frustrated with the ongoing renovations being made to the vice presidentā€™s mansion ā€“ forcing her and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff to temporarily stay at Blair House, the presidentā€™s official guest quarters.

The administration provided no explanation for renovation delays, leading to the vice president having to reportedly live "out of suitcases" while the nation questions why she hasnā€™t packed those bags for a border visit.

Harris, in fact, laughed while responding to a question from a reporter Monday who asked if sheā€™d be heading south soon. She replied with what some called a cackle, "Not today."

The VP's communications director Ashley Etienne accepted Foxā€™s phone call but refused to answer questions over the phone. Instead, she told Fox News to email her and she would respond. But as of Sunday evening, still no response.

The White House also did not respond following request for comment.

Peter Philips accused of breaking lockdown to visit married woman in latest palace scandal

Princess Anneā€™s son Peter Phillips was quizzed by police for allegedly driving 740km to visit a married mum during the UKā€™s tough COVID lockdown ā€“ and itā€™s not his first scandal.

Itā€™s a good thing the Queen has two new adorable corgi puppies to cheer her up right now because sheā€™s going to need something to put a smile on her face as a new controversy involving an errant grandson hits the palace.

(Fun fact: The pups names are Fergus, after Her Majestyā€™s uncle who was killed in World War I, and Muick, the name of a favourite loch on her Scottish estate.)

Yesterday, it was revealed that Peter Phillips, Princess Anneā€™s son and the oldest Windsor of his generation had been quizzed by police after he drove 740km from his home in Gloucestershire to Aberdeenshire in Scotland to visit married mum Lindsay Wallace, 40, who is a school chum of his sister Zara. (National COVID-related lockdowns are still in place in much of the UK.)

The Sun has reported that ā€œangry localsā€ in the village of St Cyrus had called authorities and that ā€œofficers decided he was not in breach of any COVID lockdown rules after he explained he was on a business tripā€.

Another report quoted a source as saying: ā€œPeter is besotted with her. They have known each other for quite some time. This latest trip isnā€™t the first time he has been to Scotland to visit her. They have been keeping things under wraps. Only the inner circle knew about this friendship.ā€

After the drama of the past month, which saw Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussexā€™s claims of royal cruelty and racism engulf the palace in the biggest crisis in decades, this latest imbroglio is just what the royal house does not need.

However, this is far from the first time the 43-year-old has found himself in hot water.

See, while most people wouldnā€™t be able to pick Peter out of a line-up of ruddy-faced upper crust men who know their way around a thoroughbred, he has managed over the years to create an out-size number of headaches for Buckingham Palace that qualify him for wild child status.

His arrival in 1977 made history ā€“ not only was he Her Majestyā€™s first grandchild but his mother, the formidable Princess Royal, refused a title for her wee bub. (Four years later she did the same when daughter Zara was born.)

Unlike the Phillips kidsā€™ cousins, Princes William and Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, there was not a stray clutch of letters (HRH) or any semblance of a fancy appellation anywhere near their names.

The consequence of this is that while Peter and Zara are indeed members of the royal family and their blood might be far bluer than most, they are not royal, per se.
