The military is conformist by design. If you tell them to hate minorities or love minorities because that is what leadership wants, they will do it. Being a patriot has nothing to do with what happens in the military ranks until they tell you to start killing US civilians, and even then most will go along. Following orders and all that. Only the top makes a difference. Look at how the German military followed Hitler down the path of destruction, even through many if not most German patriots thought much of how the war was prosecuted was crazy. You can not have people who think for themselves in a military, otherwise they would never run headlong into certain death just because some elite asshole said it was important.
