Our military is not law enforcement and can take NO actions with out civilian authority.
The authority comes from POTUS and the authority of those in designated posituions below him.
This prevents civil war, and is a big part of why the Roman Empire collapsed. If the military decides what is right or wrong there is no end in sight. If the military acted on its own, anyone who didnt go along is a Patriot or Traitor? North or South?
