LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas lawmakers have rejected an effort to end the emergency declared in the state because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Arkansas Legislative Council made the move on Monday, effectively voting to allow the governor to keep his emergency powers to curb the virus’ spread for another two months. Gov. Asa Hutchinson urged lawmakers to allow him to continue the emergency declaration, saying ending it would send the wrong message.

Hutchinson last month lifted most of the restrictions issued because of the virus and has said the state is on track to end its mask mandate on March 31.

Last Thursday, Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed the “Election Integrity Act of 2021,” Senate Bill 202, into law. The 95-page bill adds ID requirements for mail-in ballots, halts the acceptance of absentee ballots within 11 days of an election, and prohibits third-parties from providing gifts to voters waiting in line at a polling place.

“Significant reforms to our state elections were needed,” Kemp said upon signing the bill. “There’s no doubt there were many alarming issues with how the election was handled. And those problems, understandably, led to a crisis of confidence in the ballot box here in Georgia.”

Yet the legislation leaves out critical election security provisions that had been in two omnibus bills that moved through the House and Senate in March. Under pressure by Democrats and corporate media, Republican lawmakers ditched proposals to repeal no-excuse absentee voting and kept voting dramatically expanded in ways that helped fuel election chaos in 2020. Both proposals that were left out instead aimed to ensure Americans participate in an election day—not an election season.

Memphis police are searching for a gang of thugs who brutally attacked a 14-year-old staffer at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park.

As many as five black women beat the child after she told them they had to leave the park.

Police say a 14-year-old girl was attacked and robbed by five women after asking them to leave the trampoline park where she worked. Police say the women pulled the victim’s hair, punched her and robbed her of her iPhone and Airpods.

Evita Johnson told television station WREG that she was stunned how the grown adults attacked her daughter.

“She’s defending herself, and then you seen the other ladies surrounding her and attacking her,” said Johnson.

She told the television station it was her daughter’s second day on the job.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday denied efforts to require former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to face a deposition over her unsecured email setup while she served in the Obama administration.

In an unsigned order issued with no comment, the justices denied an appeal from the conservative legal group Judicial Watch, mainly keeping in place a federal appeals court ruling from last August which stated that Clinton could not be forced to sit for a deposition.

Judicial Watch had wanted to depose Clinton, her aide Cheryl Mills, and other State Department employees over Clinton’s use of an unsecured personal email server — even for classified information — in a case seeking public access to State Department emails.

Clinton’s emails were subject to multiple investigations, including an FBI investigation which declined to charge her with violating federal record-keeping requirements or other crimes, despite clear evidence of violations.

Clinton’s emails were a major political issue in her failed 2016 bid against former President Donald Trump.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued a statement accusing the court of upholding a “double standard” and undermining faith in public institutions.

“Hillary Clinton ignored the law but received special protection from both the courts and law enforcement,” he said. “For countless Americans, this double standard of justice has destroyed confidence in the fair administration of justice.”

This case is Judicial Watch Inc. v. Clinton, No. 20-1051 in the Supreme Court of the United States.

The new diversity and inclusion chief for the U.S. military’s Special Operations Command, Richard Torres-Estrada, has been reassigned pending the results of an investigation into politically-charged social media posts he made before he was hired, a spokesman told Breitbart News on Monday.

“Mr. Torres-Estrada has been assigned other duties at USSOCOM pending the results of the investigation,” said SOCOM spokesman Kenneth McGraw in an email.

He also confirmed the commander of SOCOM, Army Gen. Richard Clarke, has initiated an investigation into the social media posts, which included a meme comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

As Breitbart News reported Friday, Torres-Estrada’s postings on Facebook gained widespread public attention after SOCOM announced his hiring on Thursday.

Fernando Boiteux who served as an acting chief lifeguard earned the most, notching $391,971 for the year. His base salary was $205,619. On top of that, he earned $60,452 in "perks" and $125,900 in benefits, according to OpenTheBooks.com CEO Adam Andrzejewski.
