VIDEO- 'Ndrangheta: fugitive Marc Feren Claude Biart extradited from Santo Domingo
The fugitive from 'Ndrangheta Marc Feren Claude Biart, born in Rome in 1967, who was arrested just touched on national soil: this is a new important result of the 'I - CAN' (Interpol Cooperation Against 'Ndrangheta) project, promoted by the Central Criminal Police Directorate, led by Prefect Vittorio Rizzi, together with Interpol, which is the largest multilateral police cooperation agency to which 194 countries around the world belong.
The fugitive Biart was arrested last Wednesday, March 24, in the city of Boca Chica thanks to the meticulous research on open sources of the joint pool of 'I CAN' - where the State Police, Arma dei Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza work - with the collaboration of Interpol of the Dominican Republic and the work of the Italian Security Expert in Santo Domingo: he was subjected to an order of custody in prison issued in 2014 by the investigating judge of the Reggio Calabria court, as part of the 'Mauser' operation for criminal association aimed at drug trafficking in favor of the Cacciola di Rosarno clan, following the operation followed by the operational department of the investigative unit of the Carabinieri of Reggio Calabria, under the aegis of the district management of Reggio Calabria directed by the public prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri.
In Boca Chica, Biart was known simply as Marc: of a reserved nature, very shrewd in his movements and frequentations, for many, and especially for the large Italian community present in that tourist resort (near the capital Santo Domingo), I was a foreigner. Precisely these cautions made it possible that once he arrived in the Dominican Republic, over 5 years ago from Costa Rica, he remained a ghost for those looking for him. In Boca Chica, however, he had created, together with his wife, an Italian cuisine site on YouTube, where numerous recipe videos were posted in which there was a man, never taken in the face. The love for Italian cuisine has made it possible to follow the traces left on the web and on social networks, while that for tattoos to recognize in the fugitive that cook framed in the videos but always without a face.
And just today, the Interpol operational summit arrives in Italy for three days between Rome, Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria just under a year after the launch of 'I - CAN': a project that involves the Italian police forces and those of 10 countries around the world (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Switzerland, Uruguay, USA), which, like Italy, have set up operational units dedicated to the fight against the 'Ndrangheta. Stephen Kavanagh, Interpol Executive Director Police Services - who is the deputy to Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock - will arrive in Italy today, accompanied by Cyril Gout (Director Operational Support and Analysis) and Roraima Andriani (Director Global Outreach and Regional Support) to the Steering Committee of 'I CAN' and for a visit to Calabria where they will meet, in addition to all the police forces,Giovanni Bombardieri and Nicola Gratteri, respectively head of the prosecutors of the District Anti-Mafia Directorates of Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro. Prefect Rizzi has the task of leading the delegation and offering an overview of how - at the intelligence, operational and judicial level - Italy is fighting the 'Ndrangheta enemy, with a global strategy born from the experience of blood and attack on institutions and the legal economy.with a global strategy born from the experience of blood and attack on institutions and the legal economy.with a global strategy born from the experience of blood and attack on institutions and the legal economy.
