Building a 3rd Temple would be useless at this point in time because God now resides in human hearts. It was destroyed (defiled) finally by the Romans in 70 CE during the Siege of Jerusalem.
Actually, the Pharisees and Sadducees defiled the temple long before the Romans arrived. God allowed it to be destroyed by the Romans BECAUSE of the defiling by the religious bankers.
Jesus cleansed the temple by driving out the money changers and it was finally destroyed after nearly a generation of defiling by the religious sect which was actively seeking its messiah in Abraham/Issac tradition.
