Two women arrested for forcing girls into prostitution, eight rescued

DAMAK, March 31: Police have arrested two women from Damak Municipality for forcing women into prostitution by confining them in a house.

The arrestees are Urmila Nembang, 38, of Pathari Shanishchare Municipality-3 of Morang and Nandita Limbu, 38, of Chulachuli Rural Municipality-4 in Ilam.

Police arrested them while acting on a special tip-off that the two women were running a brothel in a rented house at Damak Municipality-6.

Similarly, police also rescued eight women aged between 17 to 30 years from the house. All the rescued women were handed over to their families.

The women were arrested on March 28 and a case of human trafficking was fioled against them. Further investigation into the case is underway, said Rakesh Thapa, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa.

Police rescue 14 women in raids targeting London sex trafficking ring

undreds of women are being trafficked into London to be made to work as prostitutes, the Met warned today as it rescued 14 victims of sexual slavery in the capital.

Scotland Yard said the victims were found at three addresses in Harrow and had been brought here from Romania by a “well-established organised criminal network” to be forced to sell their bodies.

One of the properties raided has been identified as a brothel, the force said, and the four men and two women had also been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences.

The alleged crimes committed by the suspects, who are aged between 22 and 37, include holding a person in slavery, human trafficking, controlling prostitution and money laundering. All 14 women rescued are receiving support from specialist officers.

Announcing today’s successful operation, acting detective inspector Nick Bland warned that there were many similar cases across the capital with hundreds of women being forced into sexual exploitation in London each year.
