Columbia Sentences Killer of El Comercio Journalists

A Colombian court found a former member of a guerilla group guilty of participating in the kidnapping and the murder of a journalist crew and sent him behind bars for nearly 29 years, the country’s Prosecution Office announced on Tuesday.

Reporter Javier Ortega, photographer Paúl Rivas and driver Efraín Segarra were reporting for the El Comercio newspaper when they were detained in 2018 in the Ecuadorian province of Esmeraldas by members of “Oliver Sinisterra,” a faction that split from the FARC guerrillas in 2016, the year that rebel group signed a peace deal with the Colombian government.

The court sentenced Jesús Vargas Cuajiboy, alias Reinel, a member of the “Olivier Sinisterra,” to 28 years and 8 months in prison, Javier García Trochez of the Prosecution Office’s organized crimes department said at a press conference.

Reinel guarded the victims during the abduction until alias Guacho, the then leader of the dissident structure, ordered their killing. The bodies of the three were found days later.

Faced with overwhelming evidence, Reinel accepted his responsibility for the murders and appologized to the victim's families from the Cómbita maximum security prison in Boyacá.

The case will likely see more suspects in court, including Gustavo Angulo Arboleda, alias Cherry, and Gustavo Ospina Hernández, alias Barbas.

Famed businessman Sir Ronald Brierley pleads guilty to possessing child abuse material

A millionaire businessman who helped turn Woolworths into an iconic juggernaut has admitted to a vile crime involving children.

Millionaire businessman Sir Ronald Alfred Brierley has pleaded guilty in court to possessing graphic sexual images, with court documents saying they involved girls as young as two years old.

The elderly knight’s barrister Lisa-Claire Hutchinson asked that he not be required to stand in the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday “due to his age” as she entered guilty pleas to three counts of possessing child abuse material.

The court heard that Brierley still disputes the number of images police allege in those charges.

An additional 14 counts of the same charge laid upon the famed corporate raider were withdrawn and he has been committed to the District Court for sentence.

The offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years prison.

Now 83, Brierley was stopped by Australian Border Force officers at Sydney Airport after jetting in from Fiji in December 2019.

Australian Federal Police alleged at the time that he was caught with thousands of images and videos on electronic devices found in his carry on bags and at his Point Piper mansion.

According to court documents, he had photographs stashed on storage devices showing young girls aged “approximately between 2 years to 15 years of age in sexually suggestive poses”.

Court documents state that officers found 1615 images on a storage device at his eastern suburbs home during raids in 2019, although Brierley disputes this.

When Brierley was searched at the airport earlier that morning he was in possession of “one computer image” of child abuse material on a storage device, court documents state.

The charges that have now been withdrawn alleged the possession of tens of thousands more files discovered during the two searches, at the airport and at Brierley’s luxury home.

Aliens Will Get Yearly ‘Renewable’ Amnesty And Social Security Card

The Biden team is reportedly granting thousands of illegal border crossers one-year renewable permits to stay in the United States to apply for asylum, a process that can take multiple years.

According to a new CIS (Center For Immigration Studies) report, aliens will be allowed to receive Social Security cards, paving the way for potential government taxpayer benefits and jobs.

Immigration expert Todd Bensman revealed in a new report that an estimated 34,000 recent border-crossing aliens have already been distributed all around the continental United States.

Bensman stated that if the migrant qualifies to stay, and most do under Biden’s rules, they are tested for COVID and then given documents to stay. Afterward, they are guided to a privately run bus service that disseminates them across America.

According to Bensman, these steps happen after the COVID test:

DHS then provides many immigrants with an administrative document titled “Order of Release on Recognizance,” which grants them the legal right to be present inside the United States, according to two such documents that immigrants on the buses agreed to share. These require the immigrants to self-report to a deportation officer in their destination cities by a specific date provided.

One Nicaraguan migrant showed CIS a DHS document titled “Interim Notice Authorizing Parole,” which grants him a renewable one-year term to live legally inside the country.

Most will likely use their time to apply for asylum, a lengthy, back-logged process that allows for work authorization and Social Security cards during an adjudication process that can drag on for years.

Before the Biden team’s occupation of the White House, 45th President Trump strengthened border security and lessened the importing of unskilled labor by requiring asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while their papers were processed. This was a deterrent that sent many people back home.

Now that the Obama-like system is back, migrants are being sent to major cities again.

“On the bank of the Rio Grande in Del Rio recently,” Bensman wrote, he “happened across a family of four who had just crossed and turned themselves in to a Border Patrol agent. They were seated on the ground next to his agency truck. Asked where they were from and where they expected to go next, the parents answered that they were from Venezuela and were on their way to join relatives in Florida.”

US Forces in Syria Transfer 40 Daesh Militants to Base in Hasakah Province, State Media Report

The Biden administration appears to be following the policies of former President Donald Trump, as there are no signals so far that Washington will cease its military presence in oil-rich east Syria - even though its deployment to the Arab Republic was never invited by Damascus, nor authorized by the UN Security Council.

The US military has airlifted approximately 40 Daesh* terrorists from al-Houl prison to its al-Shadadi base in Hasakah province's southern countryside, Syrian state news agency SANA reported on Wednesday.

Citing its sources, the agency stated that "three US military helicopters and three attack helicopters landed on Tuesday evening in al-Shadadi base." Among those on board the helicopters were two Iraqi terrorists, who are reportedly held responsible for the atrocities committed at Deir Ez-Zor.

According to the report, the al-Houl prison east of Hasakah city is run by the Syrian Democratic Forces, a coalition of mainly Kurdish militants backed by Washington.

According to media reports, in January, US military helicopters regularly transported batches of Daesh terrorists from the Hasakah prisons of Ghuwayran and al-Sena'a to American bases in Iraq. More than 100 militants were reportedly airlifted and provided with weapons before release.

There have been several reports over the past years of the US military contingent assisting terrorists in the region with transportation, allegedly counting on increasing numbers of terrorist attacks in Syria and Iraq as a result of the transfers in order to justify the involvement of US forces in both countries.

Biden Infrastructure Plan Erodes ‘Right-to-Work’ Laws, Includes ‘Card Check’

A provision of President Joe Biden’s proposed $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan, the American Jobs Plan, would erode “right-to-work” laws in states that do not force workers to join a union, and would include a controversial “card check” system.

As described by the White House, the plan will “promote union organizing and collective bargaining,” in part through the “Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act,” a Democrat bill that passed the House of Representatives earlier this year.

In the event that workers vote not to join a union, the PRO Act allows the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to set aside the results if an employer is found to have interfered in any way. The union will then immediately become certified if “a majority of the employees in the bargaining unit have signed authorizations designating the labor organization as their collective bargaining representative” in the year preceding the election.

Those “signed authorizations” are a system called “card check,” in which union members can approach workers — even at their homes — and ask them to sign that they want to join the union.

“Card check” does away with the secret ballot, and it could allow union organizers to intimidate workers — which is why even former Democratic Party presidential nominee George McGovern opposed the idea in 2008. Then as now, Democrats claimed they were helping workers’ rights, calling “card check” the “Employee Free Choice Act.”

As Fox Business notes, the PRO Act also includes a provision that reclassifies many independent contractors as employees. That repeats the policy enacted by California’s Democrat-dominated legislature in 2019 in AB 5, which caused havoc in the “gig economy,” including ride-sharing companies. Female workers who prefer more flexible schedules were particularly badly affected. California voters passed Proposition 22 in 2020 to limit AB 5, and other changes to it are also being debated.

Currently, 27 states have passed “right-to-work” laws that “that no person can be compelled, as a condition of employment, to join or not to join, nor to pay dues to a labor union,” according to the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. Many of these are governed by Republicans; many have also experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, and have attracted workers who have left Democrat-governed states with strict unionization laws.

Biden’s infrastructure plan would make Democrats’ approach the national norm, and would include a “card check” system that was once too radical for President Barack Obama, with a Democratic House and a filibuster-proof Democratic majority in the Senate, to pass.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said that the White House is “not going to compromise on core values” in the infrastructure bill “and meeting the challenges of climate change is a core value. Equity is a core value.”

Host Joy Reid asked, “[C]limate change is a big deal. It’s a big issue and this bill’s supposed to help address it, but would you be willing to trade things that would increase the amount of coal or the amount of oil that’s being used? Because that’s the kind of stuff that I can foresee prince Joe Manchin coming in and demanding. Are you willing to do that or is the president going to do what he did on the stimulus and say, no, there are certain red lines here?”

Raimondo responded, “Yeah, look, this is a values-based package, and he is not going to — we are not going to compromise on core values and meeting the challenges of climate change is a core value. Equity is a core value. But, certainly, I would not want to speak for my friend Sen. Manchin, but there’s a lot in this package that he would like I think and that’s great for the people of West Virginia. It’s about putting people back to work in West Virginia. It’s about putting people to work in manufacturing. It’s about training folks so they can be prepared to get the jobs of today and tomorrow. It’s about housing in West Virginia and in every state in America. So, there really is a lot to like. If you’re serious about putting Americans back to work in good-paying jobs, you have to be for this, and yes, there will be compromise, but not on the core values to the point that you’re asking.”
