Florida Governor Calls on Biden to Resume Trump Immigration Policies

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he is sending a letter to President Joe Biden today asking him to continue the prior policy that allowed authorities to deport illegal immigrants in custody who had committed crimes.

DeSantis told reporters on Thursday that the Biden administration is removing detainers from illegal immigrants. Detainers are “critical for ICE to be able to identify and ultimately remove criminal aliens who are currently in federal, state or local custody.”

“We’ve already had in Florida a handful of criminal aliens that had finished their sentences and the detainers were removed by the Biden administration,” the governor said. “Normally they would have been transferred to federal custody and removed, and now the federal government is effectively releasing them into our communities.”

Speaking at the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum with a line of sheriffs behind him, DeSantis announced that he is directing the state’s department of corrections “to identity all inmates with detainer agreements who ICE is refusing to pick up and develop a process for transferring them to an ICE detention center.”

He also ordered the department of corrections to notify the Florida department of law enforcement and local law enforcement “of all instances in which ICE refuses to detain criminal aliens.” He said he wants everything to be documented.

“If ICE is not willing to take custody and remove … and ICE wants them released into our society, then any additional crime that is committed is by definition one that should have been prevented,” DeSantis told reporters.

“It’s a reckless policy … these are convicted felons. If you can’t remove them then what do you have? Just a complete lawless system? I don’t think any of us want that,” he said.

An ongoing immigration policy tracker by the Heritage Foundation found that Biden has rolled back almost all of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Under Biden’s immigration agenda, the construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall was shut down and ICE agents are now limited by narrower guidelines. DHS is also suspending deportations of illegal aliens for 100 days with the exception of those who have “either engaged in or are suspected of terrorism or espionage.”

Biden To Propose New Sanctions Relief Deal As Iran Again Expands Enrichment Capability

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday slammed the Biden administration's lack of initiative in rejoining the 2015 nuclear deal, in contrast to Biden's previously hyping such a move as he sought election (which he used to set his foreign policy vision apart from Trump's on the campaign trail last year).

Rouhani said in his latest remarks he's seen "no serious efforts" from the Biden White House on reviving the JCPOA. He called out the apparent hypocrisy in Biden's denouncing Trump's "maximum pressure" campaign while yet still keeping full sanctions in place.

Earlier this week Politico revealed a new Biden administration proposal in the works which would partially lift sanctions in exchange for an immediate reversal of some key nuclear deal violations on the part of Tehran, especially a reversal of its 20% uranium enrichment. Further, it would require Iran shutting down use of its advanced centrifuges.

Officials told Politico that the new US plan is expected to be pitched as early as this week; however, it appears Iran has already preemptively rejected it, reiterating its demands that all sanctions be dropped first as part US compliance to what it previously agreed to in 2015.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said in a recent interview which underscored that the Islamic Republic can no longer trust the United States: "If the U.S. passes the test of [the 2015 deal], which doesn’t seem very likely, then we can consider other issues." He added: "But I don’t think the U.S. would be prepared to discuss those issues. Is the U.S. ready to reduce its arms shipments to the region?"

Politico detailed of the sensitive timing of Biden's new proposal:

"Iran is poised to blow through additional nuclear deal restrictions in the next few weeks. This is the crucial time to avoid an escalation of the situation," said Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, an organization that has closely tracked nuclear negotiations involving Iran.

One reason for a sense of urgency among some U.S. officials as well as those outside American government is that Iran holds presidential elections in June, with campaign season kicking off in May. The politics surrounding the 2015 nuclear agreement are very sensitive in Iran, so the theocratic regime there is unlikely to allow any major moves on it amid a campaign.

U.S. authorities have seized four domains that purported to be the legitimate websites of Pfizer Inc., and where criminals advertised fake vaccine information and stock options to collect personal information from visitors.

Cybercriminals branded the domains “pfizermx.com,” “pfizerksa.com,” “pfizer-vaccines.com,” and “pfizerstockrate.com” with Pfizer and BioNTech logos and graphics to trick visitors into submitting sensitive information.

They would later use these details in fraud or phishing attacks and to enlist unwitting victims in money laundering schemes, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement.

Some of these websites deceived users into contacting fake email addresses and phone numbers, while the others attempted to trick visitors into providing bank account information while pretending to invest the money in Pfizer stocks.

Court records show that authorities have also seized three websites falsely branded as UNICEF, which criminals used to exploit the interest in helping people who need assistance in the middle of the pandemic.

These domains also intended to collect personal information by encouraging users to apply for jobs associated with distributing COVID-19 relief funds.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant opportunities for fraudsters to take advantage of individuals seeking information, cures, or vaccines to protect themselves and others. The websites seized in these cases are alleged to be simply masquerading as legitimate COVID-related sites to steal personal information for potentially nefarious purposes,” said Charge Raymond Villanueva, an agent from the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Last week, Interpol issued a public alert saying that cybercriminals are using logos from pharmaceutical companies to conduct phishing attacks, fraud and deployment of malware.

Interpol also warned of increasing online vaccine scams, claiming that cybercriminals are setting up illicit websites posing as legitimate organizations.

Some sites have even offered visitors pre-orders for vaccines against COVID-19, giving users the option to pay with Bitcoins or other online payment methods.

ViacomCBS Slams Georgia Voter Integrity Law, Claims It Impedes ‘Equal Right to Vote’

ViacomCBS is the first major Hollywood studio to speak out against Georgia’s voter integrity law, claiming without citing evidence that the legislation intended to fight voter fraud actually impedes the “equal right to vote.” The media conglomerate, which owns Paramount Pictures and the CBS network, stopped short of endorsing the left’s demands to boycott the state.

In a statement posted to Twitter, ViacomCBS said that it opposes the new law and will work to promote an “open and fair voting system” through its programming and partnerships with activist groups.

Rep. Matt Gaetz shared nudes of his sex partners with fellow congressmen: CNN

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is currently under investigation for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl, reportedly showed nude photographs of his partners to his colleagues in Congress.

According to CNN, who is citing sources, Gaetz ‘gained a reputation in Congress over his relationships with women, and even showed fellow lawmakers some nude photos of women he said he slept with.’

The report says photos seen on his phone included a naked young woman in a hula-hoop.

“We should be very clear from the top, this is a separate issue than the DOJ investigation that is ongoing right now,” CNN’s Lauren Fox reported. “When Matt Gaetz was a new member of Congress, he earned a reputation quickly of being a close ally of former President Trump’s. He liked to be in the limelight of the media. He also, according to multiple sources CNN spoke with, behind the scenes likes to show his colleagues photos and brag about sexual exploits he had with women.”

“Three sources told CNN this was something that Gaetz did, and two of these individuals had seen these images firsthand,” Fox said. (video below) “One of these individuals said they saw this image, Matt Gaetz shared this image with them, a nude photograph on the House floor. One said they had seen an image Gaetz shared with them just off the House floor, but still at the U.S. Capitol. CNN reached out to Gaetz for comment. We have not heard any response from either Gaetz nor his office. Obviously this is a significant development given what is going on with the DOJ investigation.”

“It was a point of pride,” one of the ‘sources’ said of Gaetz to CNN.

It is not known if this reported conduct is under review in the Justice Department’s probe.

Gaetz has denied all allegations made against him and says he is the victim of attempted extortion.

Court Throws Out Global Warming Suit by New York City Against Big Oil Companies

A lawsuit filed by New York City that tried to hold oil companies responsible for global warming was rejected by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan.

The ruling was a victory for BP Plc, Chevron Corp, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil Corp, and Royal Dutch Shell Plc. The court ruled that the case didn’t belong in state court and the problem of greenhouse gas emissions must be addressed at the federal level.

The city tried to sue under the state’s “nuisance law” for damages caused by the production and sale of fossil fuels that even the city admitted was perfectly legal.

“Global warming presents a uniquely international problem of national concern,” Circuit Judge Richard Sullivan wrote for a three-judge panel. “It is therefore not well-suited to the application of state law.”

Sullivan added that while the Clean Air Act did not address emissions from outside the country, foreign policy concerns and the risk of courts “stepping on the toes of the political branches” barred the city’s lawsuit.

Nick Paolucci, a spokesman for the city’s law department, said the city was disappointed it could not hold the oil companies “accountable for the environmental damage they knew their products would cause.”

Did the oil companies “know” their products were causing “environmental damage”? Greenpeace claims that Exxon knew about global warming as far back as 1981 when one of the company’s scientists wrote a memo to Exxon executives warning of climate change due to the burning of fossil fuels.

In fact, all the major oil companies had performed extensive research on the impact of their products on the environment. But then, as now, there was disagreement about how much, if at all, the burning of fossil fuels impacted the climate.

Thursday’s decision upheld a July 2018 dismissal by U.S. District Judge John Keenan. Since then, some states have tried their luck in state court. This kind of lawfare won’t stop with a few legal setbacks. The deep pockets of oil companies are too tempting a target for states and activist groups looking for a big payday to pass up.

Airlift Wing Commander Fired Amid Allegations of Inappropriate Relationship

A commander at an airlift wing at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, has been removed from his post amid an ongoing investigation into allegations he had an unprofessional relationship with another service member.

Col. Jaron Roux, the 437th Airlift Wing Commander, was relieved Thursday by Maj. Gen. Kenneth T. Bibb Jr., head of the 18th Air Force, for lack of confidence in his ability to lead, and for an alleged unprofessional relationship and fraternization, according to a release. In the military, fraternization typically refers to an inappropriate peer relationship between an officer and a subordinate.

An investigation into Roux began March 11, Capt. Alexis Burdon, spokeswoman for the 18th, said. The investigation into allegations of misconduct is ongoing, she told Military.com.

"There have currently been no charges preferred against him," Burdon said.

Burdon could not comment further on details into the pending investigation.

Roux, who assumed command of the 437th in August, has been reassigned to Air Mobility Command headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

"Commanders are placed in a special position of trust and are expected to exemplify the highest standards of conduct personally and professionally," Bibb said in the release. "I must have complete confidence in our wing commanders to lead airmen, maintain good order and discipline, and execute the mission in an environment where professional relationships and the Air Force core values serve as the foundation for our actions."

Col. Christopher Robinson, the 437th vice commander, will serve as the wing's top officer for the time being, officials said.

According to his official biography, Roux graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 2000. Following pilot training, he was assigned to the Charleston base to fly the C-17 Globemaster III. He returned to the academy as the executive officer to the Commandant of Cadets in 2009.

Prior to his role at the 437th, Roux was the vice commander of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates.

Roux has more than 4,100 hours, including 900 combat hours, in the C-17, KC-10 Extender, T-37B Tweet, T-1A Jayhawk and T-52A trainer, his bio states. His staff tours include assignments at the Academy, the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and at Air Mobility Command.

‘Generation of Conquerors’: Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham Denies Links To Gruesome Video Glorifying Its Child Soldiers

Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has denied links to a gruesome video exposing child recruitment in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The video, which surfaced on several social media platforms on March 31, shows HTS militant training minors on combat operations. The harsh training, which was shot in a dramatic style, included the use of live fire.

The video, dubbed a “Generation of Conquerors,” was not shared by HTS’ official news agency, Iba’a. However, it was attributed to the terrorist group.

On April 1, Taqi al-Din al-Omar, HTS public affairs official, denied to Enab Baladi that the group was behind the shocking video.

“There is no validity to the recruitment of minors in the ranks of HTS or any other faction of the revolution,” al-Omar said, adding that HTS is currently investigating the video.

Al-Omar’s attempt to deny HTS responsibility for the video were quickly foiled by activists, who affirmed that the group was indeed behind the gruesome footage. The activists noted that the up-armored vehicle seen in the video is of the same type made and used by HTS.

In fact, the very same vehicle, which is dubbed “al-Buraq” and carries the serial number “240,” was spotted just last year with HTS militants.

Despite HTS commitment to its radical ideology and practices, serious attempts to whitewash the terrorist group have been ongoing since at least 2017.

HTS is not hiding its ugly face. The recruitment of children is only one of many ways in which the group violates the international humanitarian law on a daily basis. The group is facing very little, if any criticism from the mainstream media.

US Military Smuggles Tonnes of Syrian Wheat to Neighboring Iraq - Report

This is the latest instance of what Syrian media say is an ongoing operation to move oil and grain out of the country, which has been devastated by a decade-long humanitarian crisis. SANA says trucks have been crossing into northern Iraq almost daily.

Twelve US trucks laden with tonnes of wheat from silos in northern Syria were seen going to neighboring Iraq through an illegal border crossing, Syrian state news agency SANA said Thursday.

SANA cited local sources who said that wheat had been stolen from the silos in Tal Alou in Al-Hasakah governorate.

On Friday, 18 US military vehicles loaded with wheat were reportedly witnessed driving through the Semalka border crossing towards Iraq. In addition to crops, Syrian officials say the US has long been plungering Syrian oil, which is believed to be one of the main reasons behind the continued military presence in the Arab Republic.

Russia said on Monday that it continues to receive daily reports about US convoys transferring oil and grain from Syria to Iraq, pointing out that 300 oil trucks crossed the Syria-Iraq border on March 23 alone as ascertained from the information in the received reports.

On March 26, local sources in Syria’s northeastern town of al-Malikiyah reported that 18 US military vehicles, loaded with wheat crops, had rumbled through the Semalka border crossing, and headed toward Iraqi territory.

After former US President Donald Trump announced in autumn 2018 about his plans to withdraw troops from Syria, as part of his 2016 election promises to cease the "endless wars", the ex-commander-in-chief soon changed his mind, saying that a residual force of US troops will remain in northeast Syria to "secure the oil".

The new US president Joe Biden has not reversed the policies of the former administration. In late February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow has received information suggesting the United States plans to stay in Syria indefinitely, "even to the point of destroying this country."

“Worst Voter Suppression Since Jim Crow” – Democrats Furious After Texas Senate Passes Election Integrity Bill Limiting Mail-In Voting

The GOP-controlled Texas Senate on Thursday passed an election integrity bill limiting mail-in and curbside voting.

The bill passed largely on party lines in an 18-13 vote.

The measure, if passed by the legislature and signed by Governor Abbott, would limit voting hours, eliminate drive-through voting lanes and would prohibit “solicitation” by elected officials at ballot drop boxes.

As expected, the Democrats are furious and comparing the bill to “Jim Crow” laws.

Jim Crow laws were state laws that enforced racial segregation in the South.

The bill limits mail-in and curbside voting, both of which were expanded in many of the state’s largest counties last year as precautions for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, SB 7 would prohibit clerks from soliciting voters to apply to vote by mail, require voters who want to vote by mail or curbside based on a disability to provide documentation from a doctor, Social Security Administration or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and cutting early voting hours by forcing them to all go from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – a direct response to Harris County having voting centers open until 10 p.m.

State Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, brought up the fact no civil rights organizations were consulted when drafting this bill.

“Passage of this particular bill is not indicative of ‘We the people,'” West said. “The reality is there is no problem [of voter fraud].”

“Senate Bill 7 is the worst voter suppression we’ve seen since Jim Crow, a full-on assault on the voting rights of Texans with disabilities and Black and Latino voters,” said Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa, reported The Dallas Morning News.

Georgia passed a similar law and the Democrat-media complex piled on Governor Kemp and accused him of bringing Jim Crow back to the South.
