This could have been an epic exchange if the reporter knew anything.

Of course, Hunter Biden signed a work request at the computer shop where he dropped off his computer and then forgot to go back and pick it up.

Crowded Train Crashes In Taiwan, Killing 50, Injuring 69 Ahead Of Holiday Weekend

Update (1130ET): We have new numbers for the death toll from Friday's crash: Authorities are now saying at last 50 have died, and another 69 are being treated for injuries. It has also been reported that the train's driver was among the dead. Authorities believe that everybody trapped below the wrecked train's carriages has been rescued, but some of the victims haven't yet been identified. In what appears to be the worst train wreck in Taiwan's history, a passenger train crashed Friday while entering a tunnel north of the eastern city of Hualien, killing at least 48 people and injuring another 66. The crash, which unfolded at the start of a long holiday weekend, was particularly devastating since the train was packed with nearly 500 travelers. Transport Minister Lin Chia-lung told reporters 490 passengers were aboard at the time of the crash.

Taiwanese news reports claimed that many passengers were forced to stand on the overcrowded train, which amplified the damage caused by the impact since many were simply thrown across the car upon impact.

"People just fell all over each other, on top of one another," a woman who survived the crash told domestic television. "It was terrifying. There were whole families there."

Images and video of the aftermath showed the train cars crumpled inside the dark tunnel, while dozens of survivors climbed out of the tunnel, some taking to the train's roof to escape. Video provided by Reuters depicted some of the early rescue work.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky on Wednesday said new data suggest vaccinated people do not carry Covid-19 so why do fully vaccinated people need to wear a mask and practice social distancing??

Rand Paul on Wednesday linked to a study examining T cell responses in Covid-19 convalescent individuals.

“T cell immunity after natural infection shown to include variants,” Rand Paul said in a swipe to Fauci. “Do we still need to wear multiple masks after we’ve recovered or been vaccinated?”

Moscow warns of ‘measures’ against any Western troop deployment in Ukraine, as Kiev cites guarantees of US support in a conflict

Russia has warned that it would regard any deployment of Western troops in Ukraine as a serious provocation, after Kiev asked NATO to step up its local combat readiness and claimed the US would come to its aid in any future war.

On Friday, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry issued a statement saying that it had received guarantees of American support after a telephone call with Washington’s top military official, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austen. “The US Secretary of Defense stressed that in the event of an escalation of Russian aggression, the United States will not leave Ukraine alone,” the Ministry said.

Asked about the prospects of a standoff in the region, Peskov warned that this could begin a potentially dangerous chain of events. The Kremlin official said that “undoubtedly, such a developing scenario would lead to a further increase in tensions near Russia’s borders. Of course, this will require additional measures from the Russian side to ensure its security.”

When pressed on what those measures might be, the official said only that the country would do "everything that is needed."

The public spat comes amid rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, after a series of reported clashes in the east of the country between Kiev’s forces and militias, who receive support from Moscow. Peskov called the escalations “quite frightening.”

Ukraine has since appealed to the US-led military bloc to increase its presence in the region. A call transcript published on Friday showed that Roman Mashovets, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, said that it’s been requested that the bloc consider “joint activities, including military exercises of Ukraine and NATO.” These activities, the transcript said, “should include land, naval and air components. In addition, it is advisable to increase the level of combat readiness of troops in NATO countries bordering Ukraine.”

In February, the country’s Ministry of Infrastructure invited warplanes operated by the US-led bloc to fly missions near Crimea, which it claims as part of its sovereign territory. Officials proposed that the skies be “used for NATO air operations in the airspace… which includes airspace over the sovereign territory of Ukraine and over open waters, such as the Black Sea, where the responsibility for air traffic services is delegated to Ukraine by international treaties.” Russia regards the region as its own after it was reabsorbed in 2014.

Moscow has previously described Ukraine’s membership of NATO and the deployment of troops there as a red line for the country. The situation has echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when Soviet weaponry was deployed on the Caribbean island off the Atlantic coast of America, sparking a crisis that led the two superpowers close to nuclear war.

Iran rejects prospect of meeting US at upcoming nuclear deal talks in Vienna

Iran will not talk to the US at the upcoming nuclear deal talks in Vienna, its deputy FM has said, as Tehran believes a return to the agreement does not require negotiations but instead depends solely on sanctions being lifted.

Next week, the remaining participants of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will get together for talks in Vienna.

However, the talks will not include any contact between the Iranian delegation and US diplomats, Iran’s Deputy FM Abbas Araqchi said on Friday following a virtual meeting of the JCPOA’s signatories.

“The United States will not attend any meeting in which Iran is present, including the meeting of the joint commission [of the nuclear deal], and that is certain,” Araqchi said, signaling that Tehran is not seeking any contact with the US. Other parties of the JCPOA, however, may be seeking “to consult bilaterally or multilaterally with the United States,” describing such contacts as “their business.”

The Iranian delegation will not have any talks with the US delegation at any level.

Araqchi said Tehran sees no point in talking with the US, as Washington’s potential return to the JCPOA, as well as the fate of the whole deal, solely depends on the issue of sanctions. As soon as the US “sanctions are lifted and this is verified,” Iran would immediately return to compliance with all the JCPOA obligations it recently suspended, he explained.

The nuclear agreement has been in limbo since early 2018, when then-president Donald Trump walked away from the JCPOA, branding it a “horrible” deal and accusing Tehran of somehow violating its “spirit.” Iran’s compliance with the agreement, however, has been repeatedly confirmed by international observers.

Since then, the US re-imposed old sanctions and slapped new ones on Tehran, effectively nullifying the effect of the whole deal, which envisioned a lifting of sanctions and other economic benefits for Tehran in exchange for strictly limiting its nuclear program. Since the US walked out, Iran has gradually ramped up its nuclear program-related activities, including uranium enrichment well beyond the JCPOA-imposed threshold.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was accused of undermining his government’s vaccination program after he told Brits that those fully inoculated against Covid-19 could still not meet indoors as they were not completely protected.

In a Q&A video published on Friday, Johnson said vaccinated friends and family members could not meet one another indoors because “we’re not yet at that stage”.

“Even though your friends and family members may be vaccinated, the vaccines are not giving 100% protection, and that’s why we just need to be cautious,” he claimed, concluding that the government does not think vaccination removes the risk of transmitting the virus.

Social media users were quick to criticise Johnson for undermining the UK’s vaccination program with his comments, and mocked the prime minister for inadvertently making an argument against vaccine passports, which he reportedly wants to implement.

“Feels like a slightly dangerous argument when govt trying to persuade everyone to get jabbed – and when road map suggests people will be able to meet indoors from next month,” tweeted Daily Mail political editor Jason Groves, while another Brit questioned when life “require(d) 100% safety”.

“Following that logic, almost everything would be banned,” he wrote.

Times Radio presenter Stig Abell said he believes two fully vaccinated people should hug if they want to, “otherwise why bother with anything. And I think two fully vaccinated people will hug whether the government likes it or not.”

Others pointed out that up to 30 people can currently be in a room together for funerals, whether they’re vaccinated or not, and warned that Johnson’s comments could make people stop following the coronavirus guidelines.

Pilot events for a vaccine passport system are reportedly being planned this month, and Johnson has previously said that pub landlords and other business owners could ban entry to those who have not been vaccinated or cannot provide a negative Covid-19 test result.

On Thursday, Johnson also claimed that vaccine passports would “definitely” soon be required for international travel and that a similar system could also be “useful” domestically.

US Capitol on Lockdown Due To 'External Security Threat', Congressional Staffer Says

Law enforcement officials placed the US Capitol on lockdown on Friday moments after an unidentified individual reportedly drove a vehicle through security barriers and into authorities.

Local reports indicate that Capitol staffers were urged to steer clear of windows and to take cover as officials addressed the growing situation.

Gretchen Whitmer Criticizes Republican Election Reforms with Fauci Pillow

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer criticized Republican election reform efforts in a video interview with a special cameo.

The face of Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and chief medical advisor to the president, appeared in a March video interview with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Whitmer spoke to MSNBC regarding Republican election reforms being pushed across the country, most notably in Georgia. On the far left, a pillow featuring the smiling face of Dr. Fauci is sitting on a shelf behind her.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Blasts American Airlines: ‘Texans Are Fed Up with Corporations that Don’t Share Our Values’

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) is “stunned” American Airlines issued a statement opposing an election integrity bill, Senate Bill 7, following passage early Thursday morning, as the CEO admittedly did not read the legislation.

“I am stunned that American Airlines would put out a statement saying ‘we are strongly opposed to this bill’ [Senate Bill 7],” the lieutenant governor said, “just minutes after their government relations representative called my office and admitted that neither he nor the American Airlines CEO had actually read the legislation.”

Patrick said he heard the same outcries from corporations in 2011 — claims that Texas passed a “voter suppression” bill when it passed a photo voter ID bill. He said the opposite of voter suppression occurred.

“Voter turnout in Texas soared from 7,993,851 in 2012 to 11,144,040 in 2020, a 39 percent increase. Gubernatorial election voter turnout has increased by 76 percent since photo voter ID was passed,” he said in his statement.

The Texan stated:

Texans are fed up with corporations that don’t share our values trying to dictate public policy. The majority of Texans support maintaining the integrity of our elections, which is why I made it a priority this legislative session. Senate Bill 7 includes comprehensive reforms that will ensure voting in Texas is consistent statewide and secure.

Patrick went on to say that in 2017, American Airlines “led the fight to try to force us to allow boys to play girls sports in Texas and take away their scholarships. They are probably still fighting for that today and it is likely they have not read Bill 29 either:”

The Texas State Senate passed Senate Bill 7 early Thursday morning. Republican State Sen. Bryan Hughes (R), who authored the legislation, describes it as a bill aimed to make it “easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

American Airlines released a statement Thursday afternoon saying, “Earlier this morning, the Texas State Senate passed legislation with provisions that limit voting access.
