“I’m wondering when can we expect a final determination from the president about the United States participating in the Beijing Olympics given that he said the Chinese president does not have a democratic bone in his body?” the reporter asked Psaki.

Psaki did not like the question and responded with a rude, snide remark.

Joe Biden told ESPN on Wednesday he “would strongly support” MLB moving the game, calling the Georgia law “Jim Crow on steroids”.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. announced Friday the MLB is moving the 2021 All Star Game and Draft from Atlanta in response to the new voting integrity law passed in Georgia last month. Georgia Sen. Ossoff Breaks With Biden Over Baseball Boycott Due To New Voting Law

Democratic Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff broke Friday with President Joe Biden, saying he won’t support moving Major League Baseball’s (MLB) All-Star game out of Georgia in protest of the state’s new divisive voting law.

The game was set to be held July 13 at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. The MLB moved the location due to the new voter laws, however, which require among other things that voters provide a photo ID such as a drivers license when they submit an absentee ballot.

“I absolutely oppose and reject any notion of boycotting Georgia,” Ossoff said. “Georgia welcomes business, investment, jobs, opportunity and events. In fact, economic growth is driving much of the political progress we have seen here. Georgia welcomes the world’s business. Corporations disgusted like we are with the disgraceful Voter Suppression bill should stop any financial support to Georgia’s Republican Party, which is abusing its power to make it harder for Americans to vote.”

The MLB announced Friday afternoon that they will move the All-Star game and draft out of Atlanta due to the state passing the new election law.

Biden was asked about moving the All-Star game in a Wednesday interview with ESPN, to which he said the MLB should move it out of Georgia.

“Look at what’s happened across the board. The very people who are victimized the most are the people who are the leaders in these various sports,” Biden said when asked about moving the game by ESPN’s Sage Steele on Wednesday. “I would strongly support them doing that. People look to them. They’re leaders.”

Two of the largest companies based in Atlanta, Delta and Coca-Cola, along with a range of other corporations have criticized the new law.

US Air Force Bomber Chief Dismisses Army’s Ground-Based Missile Push as ‘Expensive’ and ‘Stupid’

While the US Army tries to edge its way into the hypersonic weapons game with a ground-launched intermediate-range missile, the US Air Force is seeking to defend its turf as the Pentagon’s supreme long-range strike service.

The US Army’s primary modernization focus is its Long Range Precision Fires (LRPF) program, intended to give the Army missile and artillery weaponry capable of surface-to-surface strikes from increasingly long distances. However, the head of the US’ bomber fleet let slip earlier this week that he thinks that’s a really dumb idea.

“Why in the world would we entertain a brutally expensive idea when we don’t, as the [Defense] Department, have the money to go do that?” Gen. Timothy Ray, who leads Air Force Global Strike Command, asked the hosts of the Mitchell Institute’s Aerospace Advantage podcast released on Thursday.

“I’ve had a few congressmen ask me. And you know what? Honestly I think it’s stupid,” Ray continued, according to Defense News. “I just think it’s a stupid idea to go and invest that kind of money that recreates something that the service has mastered and that we’re doing already right now. Why in the world would you try that? I try to make sure that my language isn’t a little more colorful than it is, but give me a break.”

In particular, Ray argued it would be hard to sell regional partners in Europe and Asia on the Army’s new weapons, whereas bombers have “a proven capability” to strike targets at extended range.

According to Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, the service has already spent $1.3 billion on its LRPF program and he asked lawmakers last month to okay another $1.7 billion for fiscal year 2021, $800 million of which will go towards a ground-launched hypersonic missile battery. In all, the Army foresees spending $10 billion over the next decade on LRPF.

Some of the other weapons developed by the Army for the program have included the M982A1 Excalibur extended range guided artillery shell, with a range of 43 miles, and the Extended Range Cannon Artillery (ERCA), the massive mobile cannon that fires it. Many are more recent additions, since their longer ranges potentially violated the terms of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which then-US President Donald Trump allowed to lapse in 2019. The treaty banned American and Russian ground-launched missiles with ranges of between 500 kilometers and 5,500 kilometers (310 to 3,420 miles), which were feared for their ability to conduct a lightning-quick nuclear strike.

Another weapon created under the program include the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), a longer-range missile that will replace the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) fired by the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) platform. The Army is also adapting the US Navy’s Tomahawk cruise missile and Standard Missile 6 (SM-6), originally an air defense weapon converted to surface strike.

With such ultra-long ranges, these weapons are expected to rely on “spotter” aircraft, which could be drones but also F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, which have proven in tests to be able to transmit accurate targeting information on enemy positions to HIMARS units.

However, the Marine Corps’ long-range fires program has proven no more popular: in December, lawmakers gutted the USMC’s budget for developing its own version of the Tomahawk as well as a ground-based version of the Naval Strike Missile. The UMSC is looking to revamp its warfighting doctrine, shifting away from heavy land fighting units and toward a combination of naval units and deployable front-line assets like the HIMARS, which can be flown into forward areas at the start of a conflict and then quickly moved again.

It firmly warned against any potential looming NATO troop movements following Brussels voicing concern the day prior over the widespread reports and videos purporting to show a significant Russian build-up of forces along Ukraine's eastern border.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Taran, and "condemned recent escalations of Russian aggressive and provocative actions in eastern Ukraine," the Pentagon said.

"Our rhetoric [over Donbass] is absolutely constructive," Peskov said in response to journalists' questions. "We do not indulge in wishful thinking. Regrettably, the realities along the engagement line are rather frightening. Provocations by the Ukrainian armed forces do take place. They are not casual. There have been many of them."

Report: Andrew Cuomo Eyes $2.1B Taxpayer-Funded Benefits for Illegal Aliens, Convicted Felons

While more than a million jobs have been lost in New York and an estimated 80,000 New York businesses may not make it to the end of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) is negotiating a plan to provide $2.1 billion worth of taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens and convicted felons.

Sources told the New York Post this week that Cuomo, along with New York State Democrats, is negotiating a $2.1 billion fund where at least 187,000 illegal aliens and 87,000 felons could receive taxpayer-funded unemployment benefits that mirror state and federal benefits.

“It makes no sense to send billions of taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants and convicted felons,” state Sen. Daphne Jordan (R-NY) told the Post.

Illegal alien and felon recipients could receive up to $28,600 a year thanks to the taxpayer-funded benefits, according to analysts. Weekly, illegal aliens and felons could receive $500 a week. For those unemployed since March 2020, recipients could receive on average $12,600.

Recipients, should the taxpayer-funded program be included in the state budget, could also become secure medical coverage paid for by New York’s public health insurance program.

Illegal aliens already enjoy protection from federal immigration law in New York thanks to the state’s sanctuary policy while those accused of violent crime receive regular aid via Cuomo’s bail initiative that frees them from jail almost immediately after being arrested.

Those benefiting from the bail initiative include suspects accused of second-degree manslaughter, aggravated vehicular assault, third-degree assault, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, criminally negligent homicide, aggravated vehicular homicide, and about 100 other crimes.

New York, and particularly New York City, has been ravaged by Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s (D) economic lockdown measures that have now been in place for more than a year. Historic venues, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and local neighborhood spots have had to close their doors for good as a result of the lockdowns.

Those forced to close include The Roosevelt hotel in Midtown East that opened in 1924, the Copacabana nightclub which opened in 1940, The Paris Cafe which opened in 1873, and Empire Coffee & Tea which opened in 1908 among hundreds of others.

China has banned Facebook but that hasn’t stopped Beijing from using the social media platform as a gigantic instrument of state propaganda.

Hundreds of millions of people around the world are exposed to Facebook highlighting sponsored posts from the Chinese Communists that show Muslim ethnic minority Uyghurs happy and laughing the day away in China’s Xinjiang region.

The reality is that China uses millions of Uyghurs as slave laborers in its cotton fields and factories.

Facebook employees have expressed concern that their employer is just another cog in the Chinese disinformation machine that has hidden the human rights atrocities of the Communists — including genocide — by lying about conditions Uyghurs have to live in.

Wall Street Journal:

Facebook hasn’t determined whether to act on the concerns, say people familiar with the matter. The company is watching how international organizations such as the United Nations respond to the situation in Xinjiang, one of the people said. The U.N. this week called on firms conducting Xinjiang-linked business to undertake “meaningful human rights due diligence” on their operations.

A Facebook spokesman said that the ads taken out by Beijing pertaining to Xinjiang don’t violate current policies so long as the advertisers follow Facebook’s rules when purchasing them. He said the company is monitoring reports of the situation in Xinjiang “to help inform our approach and due diligence on this issue.”

There are very good reasons Facebook doesn’t want to rock the boat with China. Five billion reasons.

Although Facebook has been blocked in China since 2009, its revenue from advertisers in the country may exceed $5 billion a year, according to some research-firm analysts who study digital advertising. That would make it the company’s largest revenue source after the U.S. Facebook doesn’t break out revenue by country.

Taking action against state-controlled media outlets on Facebook presents a quandary for the company, some of those analysts say. The ads may contain content that Facebook staff are uncomfortable with, but introducing policies to tackle them would amount to deciding what governments are allowed to broadcast on the platform.
