You happen across a tree and assume that, because it is laying on the ground, it must have fallen. But did the molecules of the air all dance to the percussion when their efforts would not matter to the hatter?
In general, we would say that it did. Physics still plays out much as we expect on the macroscopic scale… Usually…
But when we get into the world where it takes more energy to extract meaningful information, then we find the universe loves shortcuts and approximations. Just what path did the electron take during photosynthesis? None… All… Makes no difference, and the electron is all the better for the distance.
Go far enough back in the big world, and we are subject to the same vex of hex. What I have seen few concern themselves with is the shape of space. If the smallest unit is of one Planck, then what shape is space?
