I often reflect, during this time of year, not on the resurrection as so many do, but the abject horror of what he was put through and what he had to endure, before and during the crucifixion. This motivates me moar than our dear savior rising from the dead.

Me too. I think about what it must have been like watching them interact, what they talked about, how they behaved. The love/bonding connection, humanity and humanities destiny. Also, to be so close, so intimate w/Him, only to see the events unfold. For some, it was a complete disassociation. Imagine the gut wrenching feelings of watching your friend whom you loved dearly who was filled with lovingkindness, grace, mercy, sweetness, innocence only to be beaten mercilessly, then nailed to a cross.

Other than Judas, they all 'responded' w/an 'pure' motive to follow through w/his plan, which is hard for us to really identify with today.
