Search teams locate missing plane in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – UPDATE, April 4, 3:10 p.m.: Officials confirmed the male pilot was found dead at the scene of the crash. He was the sole occupant of the plane.

 

UPDATE, April 4, 2 p.m.: Multiple rescue teams are working to find the downed aircraft.

 

Preliminary information from the Federal Aviation Administration says a single-engine Magnus Fusion 212 crashed overnight approximately 20 miles south of Conifer. Only the pilot was aboard.

 

The FAA will release the aircraft tail number when investigators verify it at the accident scene. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates when available.

 

UPDATE, April 4, 11:45 a.m.: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday a downed plane has been located, and authorities are working to check on the pilot and wreck site.

 

The sheriff’s office said at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday night, the office was notified of a possible aircraft crash in the area of Wigwam Creek Trail.

Man dies after powered paraglider crashes in Boulder County

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – A man died Saturday night after his powered paraglider crashed in a field in Boulder County.

 

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, the Boulder County Communication Center received multiple 911 calls regarding a powered paraglider crash in a field north of Arapahoe Road and North 119th Street in unincorporated Boulder County.

 

The adult male pilot was found unresponsive and was the only occupant. Medical personnel attempted to save the man’s life, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

 

Police will not say who the man was until his next of kin is notified.

 

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the cause of the crash. Based on witnesses who observed the crash, it did not appear the powered paraglider had any equipment malfunctions, according to the sheriff’s office.
