I think it's an artificial dichotomy, no matter what the name. A functioning group would have both perspectives to use, depending on circumstances and skills. The creation and promulgation of the theory of that dichotomy might have been done intentionally. When and where did that show up, and who was flogging it, and why? Also, what never gets much coverage is individual and organized psychopathic behavior, the monkey wrench that gets thrown into a society's workings, which will paint itself whatever color is useful to attain its ends.
