The left does not compromise. Ever. Every evil that can be mustered is and will be brought to bear. The other side does not believe in operating that way and so, does not. There will be a time when either the Left backs off due to its OWN recognizance or there will be a standoff between the two factions. One will win, this standoff may by physical and result in fighting or it will be like cancer where the good is simply eroded to the point where it is powerless, mainly due to good's own inaction. The left does not stop, ever. Reduction of the Left's power is required by those means that reduce a factions power. This will happen when the left believes they have sufficient power to effect the change they desire. The when is dependent on what is done to curb and delay the lefts rise to power. Total and utter destruction of the left is the only thing that resets this balance to delay takeover the longest.
Who knows what we have in reality. Anyone, Us or the Russians. Our 'fastest' aircraft ever that is publicly widely known was designed in the 50's built in the 60's and retired in the 90's. Since then we either haven't built anything new or its plenty secret and largely forgotten. I would not be at all surprised to learn that warp engines are running all over the place.
