you are missing the end game. if hundreds of millions or Billions die, the system will collapse killing off billions more. if the end game is depopulation, then it doesn't matter if the left joins the the right, the system is gone and the people are gone with it. the real question is why the need for depopulation. the best answer I have been able to come up with is the group is two fold. the usefull idiots who only see the plant being harmed by humans, and the other group who thinks they are saving humanity because they know something the rest of us do not. the second group is more dangerous in my estimation because they are logical thinkers using some information they see as necessitating the need for a smaller population. I suspect it has to do with the sun novaing on some type a a cycle, the magnetic pole shift, and maybe a reversal in the spin of the planet. I think they think that by reducing the population to 500M, and having the technology available to harvest resources, they can save up enough to allow 500M people to ride out 200-300 years of an ice age. Hard to say if their observations about the cycle are correct, but it explains a lot about why they are so hell bent on their goal, greater good and such.
maybe possible to ride it out in underground fortified bunkers, but questionable the bunkers would survive the seismic activity or glazers. the back side of the moon seems promising since it the same side always faces the sun and the atmosphere would not be affected the way the earths would be.
i am sure that is some peoples calculation, but from what I can see, most religious zealots (of any persuasion ) fail in their ability to pull off massive operations. the general populous sees them as unstable and will not follow.
No most of the Satan worshipers are humanist who see the lack of morals to govern their actions as the distinct advantage. Some are true spiritual believers, but for most it is a tool of control through back mail within the system because the masses will tare them limb from limb if the their actions come to light. it makes for a powerful command and control structure.

I would say yes. No doubt they do evil things, but that is what makes the blackmail so powerful.
