If the sun is far enough for us to be presented parallel light, the model breaks down..

if you lifted the sun up off the FE model, there would never be night as FE would always be illuminated.

This is why the FE model dictates the sun/moon are very close to the earth [to explain the phenom in 2nd photo]. 3rd photo has a complex set of problems to work out for FE model.
