MLB officials said they chose the Rockies because they were already in the bidding process to host a future All-Star Game.

“The Rockies had supplied a detailed plan for hotel, event space and security that took months to assemble, and MLB staff had already made several site visits to Denver. In addition, Governor Jared Polis and Mayor Michael Hancock have both committed to provide the necessary facilities and services needed to support this year’s festivities,” officials said.

Anyone else find this odd that Polis had everything in place before hand?

Myanmar ambassador to UK says he is locked out of embassyLONDON — Myanmar’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, who has criticized the military coup in the country, says he has been locked out of his London office by colleagues.

Kyaw Zwar Minn said he was barred from entering the embassy on Wednesday evening by diplomats loyal to the military regime.

Last month, the ambassador called for the release of Myanmar’s democratic leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who was detained when the military seized power on Feb. 1.

“They are refusing to let me inside. They said they received instruction from the capital, so they are not going to let me in,” he told the Daily Telegraph, calling the move a “coup.”

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Thursday condemned the “bullying actions of the Myanmar military regime,” and praised the ambassador’s “courage.” But it was unclear what, if anything, the U.K. could do about the move.

Virgin Voyages moves cruise line debut to England, canceling sailings in US watersVirgin Voyages is the latest cruise line moving sailings abroad as the timeline to resume cruising in U.S. waters remains unclear.

"Virgin Voyages has been looking forward to sailing, and we're so excited to announce our plans to sail from the UK," said Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, in a statement.

The cruise line had a slow start due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which squashed Virgin's plans to launch in April 2020. But after multiple delays, its first ship, Scarlet Lady, will make its debut in August in the United Kingdom with a series of voyages open to residents of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Scarlet Lady will be departing from Portsmouth, England, with all passengers and crew required to be fully vaccinated.

"Additional testing and protocols will be confirmed closer to sailing, all in line with the most up-to-date recommendations from the UK government," Virgin said in a statement. "We're committed to a healthy and safe start at sea and would never set sail without the proper precautions and considerations in place. This includes capacity limitations for this initial phased restart."

Dubbed "The Summer Soiree Series" there are two kinds of itineraries being offered from Portsmouth:

The Scarlet Lady was meant to make its delayed launch in July but in scheduling sailings to the U.K., Virgin canceled its stateside summer cruises.

The ship is scheduled to return to the U.S. in the fall, for cruises departing from Miami starting Sept. 22. Virgin Voyages' second ship, the Valiant Lady, is still scheduled to sail from Miami in November.
