New York Will Offer One-Time Payments of Up to $15,600 to Illegal Aliens Who Lost Work During Pandemic

New York lawmakers carved out a $2.1 billion Covid fund for illegal aliens who lost work during the pandemic.

This is by far the largest in the country and dwarfed California’s $75 million give away to illegals last year.

The fund is part of a larger state budget agreement that will offer one-time payments of up to $15,600 to illegals.

In order to receive the money, illegal aliens must prove they are New York residents who were eligible for Covid stimulus checks but didn’t receive one due to their immigration status.

If the illegal alien is unable to provide any kind of documentation, they will still be given $3,200 – the same amount of money Americans were given in Covid stimulus checks approved by Congress.

According to the Pew Research Center, there are approximately 750,000 illegal aliens living in New York state.

Mandatory vaccines are ‘necessary in democratic society,’ don’t infringe human rights, EU court rules

Making children get jabs for common diseases is ‘necessary in democratic society’ and is in their best interests, the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) ruled on Thursday in a landmark decision against anti-vaxxers.

It’s the first time the ECHR has ruled on mandatory vaccinations for children against common diseases. While the case dealt with the Czech Republic’s laws that require schoolchildren to have jabs against diseases like whooping cough, tetanus and measles, it has implications when it comes to compulsory Covid jabs.

Nicolas Hervieu, a legal expert specializing in the ECHR, said the ruling reinforces the possibility of compulsory vaccination under the current coronavirus pandemic conditions.

A panel of judges ruled 16-1 that the Czech health policy that prevented unvaccinated children from attending nurseries or schools was consistent with “the best interests” of children.

“The… measures could be regarded as being ‘necessary in a democratic society,” the court ruled.

The objective has to be that every child is protected against serious diseases, through vaccination or by virtue of herd immunity.

The judges dismissed the appeal brought by six Czech nationals who were fined for failing to comply with mandatory vaccination rules or whose children were denied admission to nursery school for the same reason. The parents had claimed that the mandatory jab rules violated their human rights.

“The objective had to be to protect every child against serious diseases,” the court ruled.

It said that the need for compulsory vaccination in the Czech Republic represented the national authorities’ answer to the pressing social need to protect individual and public health against diseases and “to guard against any downward trend in the rate of vaccination among children.”

The court said that while mandatory vaccinations raised sensitive issues, the value of social solidarity to protect the health of all members of society, particularly those who were especially vulnerable, required everyone to assume a minimum risk by having jabs.

There was no immediate reaction from the six who appealed the case to the ECHR.

Christian doctor and author of “Angels in the ER”, Dr. Robert D. Lesslie, was murdered in his home on Wednesday afternoon along with his wife and 2 grandchildren (+1 person of unknown relation) by former NFL player Phillip Adams.

Five people were killed — including a prominent doctor, his wife and their two young grandchildren — in a shooting at a home near the South Carolina city of Rock Hill on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

A sixth person also was injured in the shooting, and authorities eventually found a suspect in the suspect’s home nearby, York County sheriff’s officials said early Thursday without elaborating.

Investigators believe the suspect was the only assailant, and are trying to figure out why anyone would have gunned down Dr. Robert Lesslie and some members of his family, sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said.

The slain grandchildren were ages 5 and 9, the York County Coroner’s Office said.

Covid segregation? Venezuelan mayor in hot water after placing warning signs on homes of people who tested positive for virus

A mayor in central Venezuela has become the target of a government inquiry, after he began posting red markings on homes with Covid-positive residents, apparently as a way to warn locals to stay away.

The official, Luis Duque, posted a video to social media showing himself standing in front of a white paper sign featuring a red circle with a line drawn through it plastered onto the exterior of a home.

“We are protecting our people,” he said in the clip, adding: “This indicates that there is a Covid case or a suspected Covid case, so the people are alert.”

The mayor of Sucre municipality, located in Yaracuy state, told local radio that extreme measures were needed to protect against a second wave of the virus. Those who did not comply with quarantine rules could see a cut to their state benefits, including food relief, he warned. Violators could also be slapped with high fines.

Although Duque is a member of President Nicolas Maduro’s ruling United Socialist Party, it appears that Caracas didn’t take kindly to his zealous Covid policies.

The country’s chief prosecutor, Tarek Saab, denounced the markings as “segregation” and said he would open an investigation into the matter, adding that officials were now working to remove all the offending signs.

It appears that Duque has since removed the video from his Instagram account, but has yet to respond to criticisms of his heavy-handed policies. He had said in an earlier interview that anyone who thought the measures were unlawful could challenge them in court.

Scientists Call BS On WHO's Wuhan 'Investigation' - Demand Legitimate Probe With Or Without China

After a joint investigation between China and the World Health Organization (WHO) failed to produce a legitimate explanation for the origins of COVID-19, a group of international scientists has cried foul - and is demanding "more rigorous investigations" - with or without Beijing's participation, according to Reuters.

In a Wednesday open letter, 24 prominent scientists and researchers from Europe, Australia, the United States and Japan say the WHO study - which all but ruled out a laboratory leak - was tainted by politics.

"Their starting point was, let’s have as much compromise as is required to get some minimal cooperation from China," said Atlantic Council senior fellow, Jamie Metzl, who drafted the letter - which says that the WHO study's conclusions were based on unpublished Chinese research, while records and biological samples critical to the investigation "remain inaccessible."

According to Metzl, the world might have to "revert to plan B" and conduct an independent investigation "in the most systematic way possible" with or without China's participation.

China has vehemently ruled out the possibility that COVID-19 leaked from a Wuhan lab, where scientists were manipulating bat coronaviruses to more easily infect humans.

"China has databases of what viruses were being held… there are lab notes of the work that was being done," Metzl added. "There are all kinds of scientists who are actually doing the work and we don’t have access to any of those resources, or any of those people."

YouTube REMOVES roundtable video featuring Florida Gov. DeSantis & anti-lockdown health experts, citing ‘terms of service’

YouTube has taken down a video of a public health roundtable hosted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and a number of medical experts voicing skepticism about lockdowns, saying that it violated the platform’s community standards.

The nearly two-hour video was first streamed on the channel of a Florida CBS affiliate in mid-March, in which the governor spoke at length at the Florida state capitol with four public health experts hailing from Stanford University, the University of Oxford and Harvard Medical School.

While the roundtable remains accessible through an archived link, YouTube sent the video down the memory hole sometime this week, as was first noted by Jeffrey Tucker of the American Institute for Economic Research on Wednesday. The page previously hosting the video now gives a brief notice: “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.”

RT reached out to YouTube and the Tampa Bay CBS affiliate, WTSP, for further details on the decision, but received no immediate response.

YouTube has stepped up its efforts against what it deems “misinformation” in recent months, particularly as it relates to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and vaccines developed to combat it. During a panel hosted by the World Economic Forum earlier this week, CEO Susan Wojcicki boasted of the platform’s “very high ability” to hunt down false information and other rule-breaking content and “reduce it significantly over time.”

“So if you look at where we were in 2017… we’ve reduced this by more than 70%. And that is due to an incredible amount of hard work with machines and also improving our policies,” she said. “Not only did we remove content that violates our policies at that significant rate, but we also created more policies.”

Though it remains unclear what policy YouTube cited in removing the roundtable video, the decision may have been linked to the health experts featured therein, each of whom have courted controversy over their vocal opposition to lockdowns and other pandemic policies imposed by world governments.

Three of the four health scientists – Oxford’s Sunetra Gupta, Stanford’s Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Martin Kulldorff of Harvard Medical School – are leading signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration, an open letter signed by nearly 14,000 public health scientists that voices “grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts” of lockdowns. The experts call instead for “focused protection” of vulnerable groups, rather than sweeping shutdowns and stay-at-home orders.

D.A.R.E. Cop Arrested on 122 Charges for Raping Boys While Telling Them Not to Do Drugs

Doylestown, PA — The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program should better be called an hilarious exercise in how not to convince kids to keep away from substances the state deems illegal. As cops hopped on their high horses and had children pledge not to do drugs, the rate of drug use skyrocketed — thrusting the country into one of the worst drug epidemics in human history. The hypocrisy by the cops who pushed the D.A.R.E. program has been well-documented over the years, explaining, at least in part, as to why the program was such a failure from the start. Now, another cop who pushed kids to ‘just say no’ has been arrested and accused of disturbing criminal activity.

Warminster Township Police Officer James Carey swore an oath to protect the children of Doylestown and instead of protecting them, according to a recent indictment, this cop preyed on them. Adding to the insidious nature of Carey’s alleged crimes against children is the fact that he committed them while pretending to be a role model as the school district’s D.A.R.E. officer.

Carey, 52, is facing over 100 charges, announced by Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub on Wednesday. A grand jury presented a whopping 80-page indictment against Carey detailing 122 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and other related charges.

Carey is accused of raping multiple boys while working as the D.A.R.E. officer at elementary, middle and high schools in the Centennial School District. The incidents allegedly spanned the course of decades taking place between 1987 and 2009 and involved at least four boys.

“A police officer’s creed is to protect and serve his community,” Weintraub said. “In a perverse and criminal dereliction of his duty, James Carey instead took advantage of his power and credibility while on the job as a police officer to sexually abuse our community’s most vulnerable: our children.”

According to the indictment, Carey met his victims at school and would lure them to places outside of campus to prey on them, including on overnight camping trips to the Poconos and to Camp Ockanickon, a Boy Scout facility in Medford, Burlington County, according to the district attorney.

According to the indictment, rumors of the abuse began surfacing long before the investigation as Carey had a reputation of inappropriate behavior around male children which included inviting them to his house to get in his hot tub.

The investigation began to gain steam after a now-adult victim came forward in May and that he had been molested by Carey at a rec center in the township, according to the affidavit of probable cause for Carey’s arrest.

According to the the affidavit, Carey would use his D.A.R.E. police officer status to prey on kids caught with drugs, giving them the ultimatum of sexually pleasuring him or go to jail.

Biden declares, ‘No amendment to Constitution is absolute’ as he rolls out gun measures

WASHINGTON — President Biden on Thursday announced a slew of new gun control measures after a recent pair of high-profile mass shootings, and insisted the Second Amendment doesn’t grant an absolute right to own guns.

Biden presented the executive actions in the Rose Garden, joined by Attorney General Merrick Garland and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“No amendment to the Constitution is absolute,” Biden maintained, pointing to the famous Supreme Court ruling that you can’t yell fire in a crowded theater as part of the First Amendment’s free speech clause.

“From the very beginning you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own, and from the very beginning of [when] the Second Amendment existed certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons. So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution,” he said. “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic and it’s an international embarrassment.”

Harris, a former prosecutor, said, “I’ve looked at autopsy photographs. I’ve seen with my own two eyes what a bullet can do to the human body.”

“Real people on both sides of the aisle want action,” Harris said. “So all that is left is the will and the courage to act. And President Joe Biden has the will and the courage to act.”

The most widely anticipated measure instructs the Justice Department to issue a proposed regulation within 30 days to undermine the at-home manufacture of so-called “ghost guns,” which can be made with equipment that drills and folds metal parts. Activists who oppose gun control have promoted the technology.

“Anyone from a criminal to a terrorist can buy this kit [and in] as little as 30 minutes put together a weapon,” Biden said. “I want to see these kits treated as firearms.”

American Jewish Congress Says MTG Using Gab To Raise Money Threatens ‘American Democracy’

The American Jewish Congress apparently does not want Republicans to raise money using Gab.

The Jewish Congress, a far left advocacy group that claims to advance the rights of Jewish Americans, claims that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s use of Gab to raise money for her upcoming reelection campaign constitutes a threat to “American democracy”.

The Jewish Congress notes that Greene “raised $3.2 million in the first three months of 2021,” and “This was the fifth largest Congressional amount raised so far in 2021, demonstrating her impact in the Republican party.” In their press release headline, they claim Greene’s fundraising on the platform constitutes “a warning shot to American democracy”

The advocacy group then notes that much of this was raised using Gab, the free speech social network launched in 2016, and claims – without evidence – that Gab is “favored by neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and supporters of the antisemitic QAnon conspiracy theory movement.”

They then claim they scanned 100 accounts out of the of the millions of Gab users and determined that 58 of them shared posts supporting Greene, and 42 posted white supremacy content. With an unscientific sample size, the credibility of their exercise is severely lacking. Further, The Jewish Congress does not reveal whether the 42 who posted white supremacy content are the same users who shared posts supporting Greene.

Gab CEO Andrew Torba responded to the attack on Gab yesterday, writing, “Why does the American Jewish Congress want [Greene] off the platform?

“The American Jewish Congress provides ZERO evidence of ANY ‘incitement to violence’ on Gab that they claim exists here because we have zero tolerance for it and take action against threats immediately,” wrote Torba. “If people are discussing other topics that trigger the American Jewish Congress they are going to have to suck it up and deal with it because it’s not getting removed just because they don’t like it.”

New York Times Staff Admit Previously Working For Chinese Communist Party – “It Has It’s Benefits.”

Several New York Times staff have previously worked for the Chinese Communist Party’s state-run media outlet China Daily, including the publication’s current Director of Cinematography who admitted “working for the Communist Party of China.”

The news comes as the New York Times breathlessly backs big corporates opposed to Georgia’s new voting laws. The New York Times, however, seems less concerned with employing genocidal Chinese Communist Party apparatchiks.

Jonah Kessel – the current Director of Cinematography at The New York Times – served as the Creative Director of China Daily from July 2009 to November 2010 before departing work as a China-based photographer and cinematographer whose clients included People’s Republic of China Ministry of Information.

Kessel describes himself as “redesigning” China Daily – a gig he was “psyched” for and boasted about how publications such as The Economist hyped his redesign.

The New York Times is one of several Western news organizations that takes part in a “Marxist journalism school” in collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party.

The New York Times has previously expressed sympathy for Adolf Hitler, as well as being owned by a pro-slavery family. The paper has never apologized for these historical positions.

US Adds Chinese Supercomputing Entities to Trade Blacklist Over Chinese Military Ties

The U.S. Commerce Department said April 8 it was adding seven Chinese supercomputing entities to a U.S. economic blacklist for assisting Chinese military efforts.

The department is adding Tianjin Phytium Information Technology, Shanghai High-Performance Integrated Circuit Design Center, Sunway Microelectronics, the National Supercomputing Center Jinan, the National Supercomputing Center Shenzhen, the National Supercomputing Center Wuxi, and the National Supercomputing Center Zhengzhou to its blacklist.

The Commerce Department said the seven were “involved with building supercomputers used by China’s military actors, its destabilizing military modernization efforts, and/or weapons of mass destruction programs.”

This is the first time the Biden administration has taken action to penalize Chinese companies on national security grounds.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“Supercomputing capabilities are vital for the development of many – perhaps almost all – modern weapons and national security systems, such as nuclear weapons and hypersonic weapons,” Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said in a statement.

Companies or others listed on the U.S. Entity List are required to apply for licenses from the Commerce Department that face tough scrutiny when they seek permission to receive items from U.S. suppliers.

The new rules take effect immediately but do not apply to goods from U.S. suppliers already en route.

During the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump, the United States added dozens of Chinese companies to its economic blacklist, including the country’s top smartphone maker Huawei Technologies, top chipmaker SMIC and the largest drone manufacturer, SZ DJI Technology Co Ltd. Those companies were sanctioned for a range of reasons including their role in aiding the Chinese military, and supporting the Chinese regime’s repression against ethnic Musim minorities in the region of Xinjiang.

The Biden administration is still formulating its China policy, and has broadly indicated it would continue the Trump administration’s tough-on-China posture. President Joe Biden has repeatedly said the United States is in “extreme competition” with the Chinese regime.

Merkel Demands Putin Reduce Russian Troops Near Ukraine In Phone Call

It seems only in the case of Russia that Western leaders presume to lecture a large sovereign country on where it can station its troops within its own borders. It's primarily these "concerns" over a Russia troop build-up near Ukraine that's now driving the new emerging crisis following an uptick in renewed clashes in the eastern Donbas region.

On Thursday's German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded that Russia immediately reduce its troops presence near the Ukrainian border, according to a German government statement. Merkel conveyed the demand in a phone call with Vladimir Putin.

"Among other things, the conversation was about the strengthened Russian military presence in the environs of East Ukraine," the statement read. "The Chancellor demanded that this build-up be unwound in order to de-escalate the situation."

The Kremlin meanwhile says its troops are responding to a Ukrainian military build-up and provocative actions in the mainly Russian-speaking Donbass:

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of provocative action in eastern Ukraine that was inflaming the situation there during a phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Kremlin said on Thursday.

In a readout of the call, the Kremlin said that both sides had voiced concerns about the situation in eastern Ukraine.

Also on Thursday Kiev announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will personally visit the eastern frontline where clashes with separatists are raging.

The Ukrainian military on Thursday announced that another of its soldiers had been killed, bringing to 25 the number of troops killed since the start of the year, compared with 50 in all of 2020.

Zelensky, who has appealed to Ukraine's Western allies for support, was due to visit positions where a ceasefire "has been systematically violated in recent days" and Ukrainian soldiers killed or wounded, the presidency said in a statement.

Wyoming Governor Signs Bill Requiring Voters to Present Identification

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon this week signed into law a bill that requires voters to present photo identification in order to vote.

The Republican governor signed House Bill 75 that requires voters to present proof of valid government-issued identification before voting at a polling place or an absentee polling place. Identification could include a driver’s license, a tribal identification card, a Wyoming identification card, a U.S. passport, a U.S. military card, an ID from a university or public school within the state, or a Medicare or Medicaid insurance card.

The bill passed both chambers of the state legislature last Thursday with an overwhelming majority.

In a statement to The Epoch Times, State Rep. Chuck Gray, a Republican who sponsored the legislation, described the passage at the time as “a victory for the citizens of Wyoming.”

“It is a necessary function of our Republic to provide our citizens with confidence that our elections are secure, fair, and valid. Even though it took over 20 years for us to pass this necessary legislation, I am proud that we were able to meet this important milestone for Wyoming,” he added.

Meanwhile, some Democrats in the state have argued that the law would impose unnecessary burdens on voters, which they argue would result in “voter suppression.”

“I think when you look at how our election structure works, we need to do everything in our power to encourage (voting), especially with our young people, our new people, our people of color, and those less fortunate. This bill doesn’t encourage that,” said Rep. Andi Clifford, a Democrat who challenged the bill.

The Wyoming chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement that it opposes the bill but did not indicate whether it would launch a challenge.

The enactment of the bill comes amid a contentious battle over voting rights and election integrity that was triggered following the expansion of absentee voting during 2020 election. Voter ID laws have long been opposed by the Democrat party, which characterizes such laws as “voter suppression.” They are concerned that some Americans do not hold any proper documentation needed to meet the requirement.

Meanwhile, voter ID laws are common in Republican-led states but usually impose the requirement for in-person voting.

FY 2021 Counts 219% Increase In Criminal Alien Arrests In 1 Of 20 Border Sectors.

Customs and Border Protection officials in Del Rio, Texas continue to arrest convicted criminals attempting to cross the U.S. border.

“Since Oct. 1, Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested 577 criminal aliens, a 219 percent increase from the previous year,” the agency’s press release notes.

The stunning figure is buried in a press release revealing Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens attempting to cross the U.S. border that were also convicted felons on April 5th:

Agents arrested Jose Ismael Barcenas-Espinoza, 55, a citizen of Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. He was transported to Brackettville Station, where records checks revealed that, in 2010, Barcenas-Espinoza was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. Barcenas-Espinoza was most recently removed from the United States in 2014.

Agents also arrested Rafael Garcia-Nieto, 44, a citizen of Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. During processing, records checks revealed that, in 2004, Garcia-Nieto was convicted of sex penetration of a child and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment, and most recently removed from the United States in 2007.

Biden ATF Nominee David Chipman Spread Blue Anon Conspiracy Theories About Waco

David Chipman, His Fraudulency Joe Biden’s nominee to head the ATF, has spread wild-eyed, Blue Anon conspiracy theories about the 1993 Waco siege.

During a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) last year, Chipman, a former ATF special agent and current senior policy adviser at [Gabrielle] Giffords Courage to Fight Gun Violence organization, told this outrageous and provable lie:

At Waco, cult members used 2 .50 caliber Barretts to shoot down two Texas Air National Guard helicopters. Point, it is true we are fortunate they are not used in crime more often. The victims of drug lords in Mexico are not so lucky. America plays a role in fueling the violence south of the border.

That is some first-class, Blue Anon bullshit right there.

While defending themselves against an outrageous, unnecessary, and deadly government raid on their compound, there are reports the Branch Davidians did fire at helicopters, but no one was injured and none of the choppers were shot down. The only big question surrounding guns and helicopters was if the helicopters fired on the Branch Davidians — something the government has denied, but not credibly.

So it is simply a lie to claim the Branch Davidians shot down helicopters with “.50 caliber Barretts.” After people in the AMA thread pointed out his lie, Chipman never went back to address it. He just dropped his lie and moved right along — because that’s what dishonest, gun-grabbing conspiracy theorists do.

What’s more, according to this official report, no .50 caliber weapons were recovered at the Waco compound after former Attorney General Janet Reno stupidly ordered the raid that would result in totally unnecessary deaths of some 82 people, including 25 children and two pregnant women.

Additionally, this report makes it clear no choppers were shot down: “The subcommittees reviewed videotape of the raid shot by agents in the helicopters as well as videotape of the exterior of the helicopters involved in the raid after the helicopters withdrew from the scene.”

“Withdrew from the scene” is just a tad different from “being shot down.”

It won’t surprise anyone that Chipman is in favor of a ban on “assault weapons,” even though there is no such thing, and is obviously willing to spread lies to convince people to back that ban. After all, is there a bigger liar in the world than his potential new boss, Joe Biden?

Listen, a lot of people on both sides blundered at Waco. No question. But the bottom line is this… The federal government knew there were women and children inside and still launched a botched raid based on a lot of unfounded rumors — like Chipman’s helicopter lie — which resulted in the agents involved failing to see those inside the compound as fellow human beings.

The fake media, the Clinton White House, some (not all) senior law enforcement officials, and the corporate media launched a public campaign to dehumanize the Branch Davidians, to toxify a large group of people, most of whom were guilty of nothing more than embracing a faith that turned them into outsiders…

There are countless ways Waco could have been handled better. Why in the world the government didn’t just wait for Branch Davidian leader David Koresh to go into town and arrest him there is the most baffling. Instead, the government launched a big, sexy, made-for-TV siege — a PR move to rebuild reputations after the government’s breathtaking debacle at Ruby Ridge, a debacle created over a shotgun with a too-short barrel that never would have existed without a blatant act of government entrapment.

Chipman knows he’s lying, but the dehumanization propaganda campaign against gun owners is all part of the fascist government’s plan to disarm us.

‘Because I’m White You Think I’m Racist? That’s BS!’: Eric Bolling Walks Off Heated Live TV Debate On Georgia Election Law

Former Fox News host Eric Bolling walked off a live TV debate over the new Georgia election law Wednesday during the BBC’s broadcast of “Newsnight.”

“Because I’m white you think I’m racist? That’s BS,” Bolling said after fellow guest Aisha Mills turned the focus of the debate to his race. She said it was “really rich” to hear “a white man” claim he cares about the economic conditions of black communities and businesses.

The debate began to unravel when host Emily Maitlis asked Bolling if he would be boycotting the companies that have taken action against Georgia in response to their election law.

“Major League Baseball pulled the All Star game from Atlanta. Atlanta is 50% African American, and they did it on the heels of what Aisha has been told has been fed from the Biden administration that somehow this voting rule is bad for African Americans in the state of Georgia,” Bolling responded. “They pulled it from the state of Georgia and put it into Denver, Colorado, at 9.7% African American.”

Mills, seemingly frustrated at what Bolling was saying, attempted to interrupt him, but Maitlis stopped her and allowed him to continue.

“9.7% African-American representation in Denver. Here’s what they did to the African-American community,” Bolling continued. “They took $100 million of revenue, they took 8,000 booked hotel rooms, and they moved them out of the state and put them in a state, and a city, with far less diversity than the city of Atlanta.”

He went on to say that if Mills wanted to complain about the law, then she should “take it up with Stacey Abrams,” who said the boycott of the state was a mistake. He also said she should take it up with Georgia’s two senators, referring to Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who Bolling stated also said it was a mistake.

“The point that Stacey Abrams was making is that actually businesses are hurting Atlanta more by moving stuff out and by the activism and the stance they’re taking,” Maitlis said, to which Bolling responded that she was correct. Maitlis then asked Mills if she wanted to respond to Bolling.

“I do because I think it’s really rich for any Republican, especially a white man, to run around and claim they care about the economic condition of black communities and black businesses when that’s all a lie. Okay?” she said.

Bolling became visibly frustrated and said, “That is not fair. That is insulting and not fair to say that. You don’t know me. You don’t know who I am,” before Maitlis cut him off and told him to let Mills finish.

Sex Scandal Plagued Oxfam Suspended from Bidding for Taxpayers’ Cash

The British government has suspended Oxfam from bidding for taxpayers’ cash after the charity confirmed it had suspended two staff amidst an investigation into corruption and sexual misconduct in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Oxfam had been receiving around £30 million a year in British taxpayers’ cash until it was revealed in 2018 that charity workers had engaged in the sexual exploitation of vulnerable women in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Allegations of rape in South Sudan also surfaced that year.

Last week it was revealed that Oxfam was investigating abuse of power, sexual misconduct, and intimidation in the Congo — a month after the government cleared the charity to bid again for public funds after a three-year suspension.

Sources from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office told The Times on Thursday that Oxfam would again be temporarily blocked from accessing funds, pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations related to the charity’s Congo mission.

A spokesman for the FCO told the newspaper: “All organisations bidding for UK aid must meet the high standards of safeguarding required to keep the people they work with safe.

“Given the most recent reports which call into question Oxfam’s ability to meet those standards, we will not consider any new funding to Oxfam until the issues have been resolved.”

Whistleblowers in the Congo had become concerned that while an independent investigation had been opened in November, it has been six months without any findings. Further, the whistleblowers had said they had been raising their concerns over how the charity was operating since 2015.

In a letter sent to senior figures at Oxfam, former and current employees accused senior staff in the Congo mission of engaging in a “culture of bullying”, including the sexual harassment of female employees and managers having sexual relationships with subordinates.

The mission was also accused of corruption regarding the awarding of contracts for accommodation and travel and the hiring of contractors.

Whistleblowers also said that they had been victims of “threats to their lives and their families’ lives”.

Last week, the charity said: “We can confirm we have suspended two members of Oxfam staff in the DRC as part of an ongoing external investigation, which we set up last November, into allegations of abuses of power, including bullying and sexual misconduct.”

The Times also reported on Thursday that a British official, working for the UN’s peacekeeping mission in the DRC in 2017, who was accused of raping a minor had avoided prosecution, despite alleged compelling evidence against him.

It is claimed that the man had given a 16-year-old girl money and goods for sex. The girl’s mother told Congolese authorities, but after they appeared disinterested in pursuing the case, she contacted the United Nations’ mission in the DRC.

The UN’s Office of Internal Oversight Services investigated the claims and found them to be credible, and the man was dismissed.

Belgian Police Seize 27 Tons of Coke After Cracking Encrypted Phones

After they intercepted encrypted messages exchanged between members of organized crime groups, Belgian authorities seized in the port of Antwerp 27.64 tons of cocaine worth some 1.38 billion euros (about US$1.64 billion) just over the past two months, the Belgian Prosecution Office said on Tuesday

Belgian and Dutch investigators accessed the messages after cracking the encrypted communication platform Sky ECC in March last year.

The now-defunct Canadian company sold to criminals worldwide devices that used private servers and its own SIM cards to obstruct police detection.

A court in Antwerp confirmed the arrests of four people, including an employee of a port company.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said the suspects acted as intermediaries and exploited the access they had to public databases, such as the national register, to let the drugs enter Europe’s second-largest port.

Thanks to the decrypted messages, local authorities have since February been able to detect dozens of batches of drugs, including nearly 11 tons of cocaine discovered in a container in early April.

The Sky ECC interception led Belgian and Dutch authorities to arrest nearly 50 suspected criminals and search more than 200 premises last month. The Belgian Prosecutor’s Office informed back then the seizure of 14 tons of cocaine and the confiscation of over 1.2 million euros (US$ 1.4 million).

Meanwhile, a U.S. court in California indicted and issued an arrest warrant against Sky Global’s CEO, Jean-Francois Eap, and one of the company’s high-level distributors, Thomas Herdman, for selling devices that intentionally facilitated the transnational importation and distribution of narcotics.

According to U.S. prosecutors, the company made hundreds of millions of dollars by providing the service to criminal networks.

The Belgian authorities’ move follows the takedown of another encrypted communication service used “exclusively” by organized crime. A year ago, European law enforcement dismantled EncroChat, a messaging network with 60,000 subscribers.

The crackdown resulted in more than a thousand arrests, the seizure of tons of narcotics and the dismantling of synthetic drug labs.

Pennsylvania Forced to Remove 21,000 Dead People Off Its Voter Rolls: Settlement

The state of Pennsylvania removed more than 20,000 deceased voters from being able to vote after a lawsuit that was settled by the Public Interest Legal Foundation, according to an announcement from a public interest group, which said it reached a settlement with Pennsylvania state officials this week.

The lawsuit (pdf) was filed in November and alleged that some 21,000 dead people were still on the state’s voter rolls during the 2020 presidential election. Pennsylvania agreed to compare its voter-registration database with the Social Security Death Index before removing the names from the rolls.

“This marks an important victory for the integrity of elections in Pennsylvania,” Public Interest Legal Foundation President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said in a statement in announcing the court’s decision. “The Commonwealth’s failure to remove deceased registrants created a vast opportunity for voter fraud and abuse. It is important to not have dead voters active on the rolls for 5, 10, or even 20 years. This settlement fixes that.”

The lawsuit was filed after the Nov. 3 election and when then-candidate Joe Biden took a lead over then-President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. Ultimately, the Pennsylvania Secretary of Commonwealth’s office certified the election.

The foundation said it found that 9,212 of the 21,000 voters had been dead for more than five years, and nearly 2,000 voters were dead for more than 10 years.
