I prefer a road trip to a city such as Dallas (TxAnon).

And go to the oldest (not a fly by night) Asian (vietnamese or such) jewelry store, where you would typically find a family running it. They will deal in cash, and no reporting to IRS. Low overhead, and usually they will form your bullion into a "rapper style" chain for 50$ or so extra over gold price, this way you can "WEAR IT" across a border without being considered a smuggler. (Jewelry is not of monetary value when crossing borders!).

Hope that helps.

But in Texas, "we" commonly shoot several people at a time, it's a typical argument.

Wife caught cheating, you gotta shoot the three niggers banging her plus her, so that's four right there.

(I do not endorse that behavior- be loyal to your husbands!)

The best way to achieve that is making it so the tax "authorities" cannot get paid.

Not paying would require coordination of everyone at the same time, but bartering and paying cash would fix the problem.

Barter your time for gold instead of "wages for labor".

Your employer would come out ahead if he paid in gold as opposed to the red tape and benefit expense etc.

It would be LEGAL if he did that, assuming you both agree your labor is a finite resource that can be bartered. and not profited from.

SMART.

But you are in an even worse position if you rent!

That's why I went off grid.

Not to be primitive, but because my taxes on my last house were nearly 10k yr.

Now (with them assuming it's a barn without electricity and water- so no one can live here) it is 300$ yr for land AND house. (I have enough land they have to stay far away cant enter property- no meters to read!)

never seen mention of one that did it the way I did.

  1. get land - has to be 12+acres to do septic conventional (important because power)

  2. drill well. If you don't hit water - sell land and start over.

  3. build metal building to resemble a barn. Affix solar and hire only trusted contractors while covering anything visible with tarps (google earth flyovers)

  4. once building is erected you can build your house inside (out of view)

You have to RENT equipment to drill your well (without permit) and same for septic system.

It is LEGAL without permits, but only if you do it yourself. (or say you did).

The best way to learn about solar is to buy some small system and play with it, learn how much appliances use.

hints:

the major power hungry appliances are WATER HEATER, STOVE, and CLOTHES DRYER.

You can get propane for all 3 of those, and live very comfy on a 50amp power system.

I use 48v forklift batteries (I have 3 of them because my house is 5k sqft, but one is usually enough for 2000sf), and use minisplit a/c units.

And did not skimp on insulation, blow foam like a crazy fool! You will never regret that after you pay for it.

Do it without a loan!

A loan means inspectors and bank rules, plus tax valuation!

HAS to be done cash. But if you have the metal building loan it's ok, cause that's a "barn"…

I asked q several nights when he posted (hope he got the message) to help change the law to do sales tax (at worst) for property transactions, at least that way you can die on the farm without being thrown out for non paying taxes as an old man who cant farm anymore.

I also pointed it out to a few state reps, but silence all the way.

It would even out in the end for revenue if you consider many people move often.

Other note: Shallow well takes less power, you can always clean water (like iron removal system costs 1000 bucks), but a deep well costs 8000). My well is 100ft and can pull it up to change well head in a few hours time. deeper the well, more power and expense.

ALWAYS use an RO system to drink, especially "watch the water" thinking.

I never post online except here, so if there is a solar off grid blog somewhere that is decent I dont know about it.

Ouch.

I had a 2500sf house with pool and 4car garage on 1 acre, paid 8k/yr in rural Texas. That means I had to show income of at least 30-40k to not get on IRS shitlist just to "keep" the house I paid for.

(consider bills and taxes).

Now off grid, I pay 300/yr for 5k sqft home (resembles a barn) and can tell irs I earn nothing and still wont get audited.

I have seen you post before - very interesting stuff.

Bet my tax "authority" would tie my ass to a barrel and beat me for merely mentioning it. Or at best investigate and find my barn is not a barn.

I hope that becomes the norm. I would rather pay to fix my own street than have them stealing from me by force.

Used forklift batteries available online for 5-7k.

(48v system is best)

solar panels are cheap if purchased by the pallet.

Pallet gives 13kw or so, for 5-7k.

Inverters are getting cheap - off grid I have Outback system, but new SMA stuff is great. Check out the "sunny island" ones on ebay. Work great. $1000 or less.

Would need a generator , but a frame type will do.

All total 20k including everything should be enough to support a 1200sf living area for climate and occupants comfy.

But consider that if you build on the middle of 40 acres you would pay 20k for the WIRE to run that far from the utility pole, it made me smile when they told me that. And at that moment my wife was on board with me.

And as a freedom note:

If you have "good credit" (which is not needed when you live off grid)

There is no LAW saying you have to pay back credit cards.

You may have more than you know$

I spent about 200k but is 5ksqft with bunker and includes a complete automation system for everything including watering the batteries and a climate controlled workshop.

I do think 100k would be plenty for a 50x50bldg equipped as a home off grid.

You would be doing a lot of work, if you hire out everything you will go over budget.

Running a backhoe is not hard, i purchased one with the premise that I could use it and sell it later - never sold it. Find shit to do all the time with it and could actually make a soft income using it.
