Gowdy said he would better serve the U.S. in a law enforcement role outside of the legislature.
I am pretty sure you must be an elected representative in or to chair committees. If he doesnt seek reelection then he wouldn't be able to chair a committee.
I like the idea of having Gowdy either in a prosecutorial role or being an outside, non house member, Speaker of the House.
Think about that.. Gowdy.. and unbiased non-elected, meaning not beholden to a certain district of "party" being Speaker of the House.
