Decided to watch Bill Maher’s first movie:Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.B movie. Daddy Hugh Hefner’s playmate / former gf Shannon Tweed also stars in. ‘Lighthearted’ B movie that seems to joke about what is actually goes on in California and everywhere else.
Plot: The U.S. government engineers an avocado supply scare due to the "Piranha" tribe of cannibal women, who live in the mysterious "Avocado Jungle" (eastern ¾’s of SoCal, westernmost outpost:San Bernardino) andritually sacrifice and eat men.The government recruits Margo Hunt (Tweed), a professor of feminist studies, to travel into the Avocado Jungle and resolve the problem. Tweed and a student recruit Bill Maher’s character inSan Bernardinoas their guide.
They eventually succeed, with the help of the rival Barracuda tribe of women. Difference? Piranha tribe prefer to eat their male victims with ‘guacamole,’ whereas Barracuda tribe prefer ‘clam sauce.’
Allusion: The film's plot loosely parallels that of novelHeart of Darknessby Joseph Conrad, as well as Apocalypse Now, which was also partly based onHeart of Darkness.
Avocado (guacamole?) seems to have occult sacrifice / cannibalism / human trafficking connotation. Produced by FULL MOON FEATURES, which is/was into horror, occult, and sci-fi soft porn (sub labels). Also, GUACAMOLE FILMS is in credits at beginning of movie, but I couldn’t find anything on them—there’s something by that name in Argentina, but it didn’t seem to fit.
