According to a Rassmussen report released on April 6, 2021, 75% of Likely U.S. Voters believe that voters should be required to provide photo identification — such as a driver’s license — before being allowed to cast their ballots. They view it as a necessary step to guarantee “a fair and secure election process.” 19% are in disagreement.
Additionally, voters oppose calls to boycott Georgia as a response to its passage of its controversial election integrity law. President Joe Biden urged individuals and businesses to boycott Georgia for passing this law, which he described as “Jim Crow on steroids.”
However, half of voters oppose boycotts against Georgia. On the other hand, 37% are in support of the boycotts, and 13% are not sure.
Support for stronger voter ID requirements crosses party lines. A whopping 89% of Republicans believe that requirements for voters to provide photo ID such as a driver’s license before going to vote is essentially to secure “a fair and secure election process.” That number is 65% for responding Democrats, in addition to 71% of unaffiliated voters.
Biden, his Democratic colleagues, and liberal media boosters believe that Georgia’s new election integrity law would discriminate against minority voters. Yet according to these poll results a remarkable 73% of black voters and 81% of other non-white voters believe that showing voter ID is a necessary prerequisite for having secure elections. Voter ID is favored by 74% of white voters, just one point more than black voters.
