Colorado Child Dies From Flu, Health Officials Blame ‘Under-Vaccination’ As Cause
A Colorado child passed away last week from the flu. The child received one flu vaccine, but health officials are blaming the parents for missing a second flu vaccine. They are saying the child was “not properly vaccinated.”
The Colorado flu report claims the child came down with the H1N1 strain of the virus. The child died at the end of the week of January 12, according to Newsweek.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment told Newsweek on Wednesday that the child was only “partially vaccinated.” They said that flu shots for children under the age of nine should be given in pairs that are less than 28 days apart.
Rachel Herlihy said, “It’s a tragedy,” according to Fox 31. “It’s an unfortunate but important reminder of the importance of two doses of influenza vaccine for young children who are receiving influenza vaccine for the first time,” she said.
In other words, health officials are placing the blame squarely on the parents of the child.
