Are these people considered rational?
Nope.
God created an angel, the highest order and the highest angel in that order, and clothed him and equipped him magnificently, and placed him in the height of the Assembly of Angels to lead the worship of God.
That angel turned himself into the devil by staging a coup against the Almighty; a coup that lasted the length of one heartbeat before it failed. And that angel and all of those under his authority fell.
Because they used their agency to choose to disbelieve God, disobey God, and fight against God.
Humanity, created good, also used their agency to choose to disbelieve God, disobey God, and fight against God.
Only difference is God had a plan of salvation for humans, to transform humans into new creations in Christ Jesus, and made a lake of fire, a pit, the outer darkness, in which to throw the original rebel and those under his authority.
They will be there forever, in the dark, and on fire, for their rebellion.
As will most adult human beings who follow the devil's advice, and try to be good people.
