Clinton is now recalling the 'Wellington Declaration' she signed on a 2010 visit to New Zealand as Secretary of State. She said New Zealand's "vital democracy" meant more in the world than New Zealanders possibly recognised.
"What you do here will be the example we can hold up as to what works and how sharing the beliefs we have in democracy, human rights is essential."

She said since she was last in NZ she had become a grandmother. She recalls being up One Tree Hill - referring to it as "One Tree Place" - and her daughter and granddaughters rang on FaceTime.
"The biggest treat I could give them was to move my phone to show them the sheep."
