Triggered memories of the Junior Red Cross programs in elementary and Jr. High School. They had leadership classes and sent promising students to "Leadership Camps".

We would be sent to camps in the National Forest (also used for scouting) and have a variety of programs like life-guarding, first aid, physical fitness etc.

I don't recall there was any agenda other than trying to develop ethical leaders. America really was great once upon a time.
