PIERS MORGAN: Until Prince Andrew tells the FBI what he knows about his pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein, I don't want to watch any more media interviews with him or see him playing dress-up in an Admiral's uniform he never earned

British police to investigate Diana murder allegations

Britain's most senior police officer has been drafted by the royal coroner to investigate allegations that Diana, Princess of Wales, was murdered by her estranged husband and the heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

Sir John Stevens, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, will help Mr Michael Burgess determine the truth of rumours that followed the death of the princess and her Egyptian boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

Part of Sir John's instructions will include examining claims made by the princess that Prince Charles was planning to have her killed.

Mr Burgess said Sir John would help decide whether any of the many rumours - including claims by Dodi Fayed's father, the owner of Harrods, Mr Mohammed Fayed, that members of the royal family were behind the crash - should be taken seriously.

He opened two separate inquests, which come more than six years after Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were killed in a Paris underpass after their car, driven at high speed by a chauffeur later found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs, slammed into a barrier.

Both inquests were adjourned until next year so that the complex investigations could proceed.

Mr Fayed, who has been behind many of the more outrageous claims made about the crash, attended both inquests. He took the opportunity to reiterate his claim that the royals were behind what he called a "horrendous murder". Prince Phillip, he added, was "racist to the core".

Asked about a letter said to have been written by the princess 10 months before her death and handed to a servant as "insurance", in which she says that Prince Charles was plotting her murder so he could marry his lover, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Mr Fayed said: "I am always saying this from the beginning."

The Daily Mirror yesterday published the letter, which had previously been censored to exclude references to Prince Charles.
