They "found" a tunnel and explained it away as a safe passage to avoid street traffic in the 1920s (around 20th & Propect if memory serves) but the tunnel went many directions, no follow up stories on where they went. This article discusses a much older tunnel, far older than prohibition, the 8th street tunnel, near where the mob blew up the River Quay right after they built it up. Remember Tiger's Records?
