Mississippi National Guard to host Southern Strike in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WHLT) – The Mississippi National Guard will host a large scale training exercise called Southern Strike 2021 at the Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport.

 

Leaders with the Mississippi National Guard said starting Thursday, April 15 there will be an increase in aircraft, low flying helicopters, and noise in the areas surrounding the base on Hewes Avenue.

 

The event will be held on Thursday, April 15, until Friday, April 30.

U.S. Army Europe and Africa will organize and host the most significant military exercise in Europe this year. Last year’s pandemic restrictions might have caught most militaries off guard, and certainly had an enormous impact on the DEFENDER Europe 20. However, this year’s exercise includes a COVID prevention and mitigation strategy. DEFENDER Europe 21 kicked off in March and will last until June in an activity that consists of 27 nations and over 30,000 troops from Europe and North America.

FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) -The U.S. Army hosts a huge multinational warfighter training that started on April 6- and runs till April 15. The exercise will involve a simulation of a corps-level battle with U.S., U.K., and French Army tactical units.

Thousands of troops and support staff will engage, distributed across various installations, including Fort Hood and Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Grafenwoehr, Germany.
